I've been tutoring for HeyTutor for a few months now, and I'm impressed by how easy it is to keep track of student progress. The pay is great, and the dashboard is intuitive.

My 9 years son is autistic and he is always uneasy among a large number of people. This is one of the reasons I couldn’t get him into a proper school. I approached heytutor regarding his studies and I am so glad I did. The tutor they sent for him is highly qualified and a certified teacher for autistic children. Alice handles my son like a mother would and I am happy that he is comfortable with his tutor. Thanks a lot, heytutor for introducing me to Alice. She is an amazing tutor and a fantastic human being.

I had to learn essay writing but had no clue how to do it. So I thought of taking online help from heytutor for one lesson. But I didn’t know I would end up making a long term relationship with them. I liked their teaching style and service so much.

Their "professional" tutors are college students

I was assured that they could match me with a tutor with professional experience in elementary education. I specifically asked for no college students. They assured me that their tutors have an average of 5-10 yrs of professional experience. I was assured that if the first two tutors don't work out, I could get a refund.

The first tutor they sent me was a college student with no professional experience. I rejected them, finding out they were an undergraduate college student when they said they weren't sure what their class schedule was yet, so couldn't commit to times.

I asked for a new tutor, complaining that my request had been ignored. They now say that they have "a few" college students, but that most of their tutors are professional.

They matched me again. Another college student with no professional experience.

I asked for my refund. They refused. Out $1350.

If you are actually interested in finding a long term private tutor, DO NOT use HeyTutor.

Used this service for college course…

Used this service for college course work and was set up with a tutor that was to come to my house because I was not able to learn from the video chats - unfortunately my tutor didnt want to come to my house anymore ( not covid related) and so I had no choice but to go online which then suffered horribly from. Not only that, but the tutor was not as reliable as I needed and I got the impression in the end it was ... Well better luck next time - so I took my final without help and by some miracle passed with a c.
I contacted hey tutor and the refused to refund due to poor service and now that I'm not in school ... That money is just wasting away sitting there.... For no reason.
I tell everyone I know to stay clear because it's impossible to know if you can use all your credits or not and without refunds it isn't worth it. Sign up for chegg instead.
Also, there should be some law against companies keeping money from people if they can't use the service.... Feels like fraud.

Terrible tutoring company, it's been two weeks since we asked for our refund back

HeyTutor was incredibly disrespectful to our family and lied constantly about their program. We were looking for tutoring in Python, and we're told by heytutor, that they would connect us to a tutor who has extensive knowledge on python programing language. When we had our first tutoring session, it was a tutor who taught C++, who had now clue how to even read python. We called them, and they said they made a mistake and would add a new tutor in two hours. Three days later no tutor, and my son scored horribly on his project. I called back for a refund, and they never issued me a refund, even though they said they give refunds for unsatisfied customers. We didn't even use 1 hour of tutoring. It's now been two weeks since we asked for our $1,500 refund, still haven't received it, nor do they want to answer our requests. Our bank has been notified of this situation and this companies vile behavior. Sad it had to comes to this.

They stiff the tutors

I sign a contract and pre-paid for 20 sessions. The first tutor they sent wanted us to pay him and quit when he didn't get paid. The second (she was wonderful) tried repeatedly to get paid, but was stiffed by this company. she quit also. They never answer their phone or emails but then call you back (at the most inconvenient time!). I feel like I've been taken. This is a warning, do NOT use this service!

A total waste of time and money

A total waste of time and money, do NOT use HeyTutor. We got the sales pitch in October and signed up, and after many emails, calls and texts to get a real tutor it's now Nov 30th and we haven't had ONE show up for my kids. They charged us a fortune promising a premium service, and have failed to deliver.

Received the hard press to commit to a minimum 20 hour tutoring package before we were even connected with a tutor. Person on the phone "schooled" me on whether my daughter would be able to learn java without a minimum package. My graduate degree and 20+ years of experience is in education/education reform. Tutoring can be a great scaffold -- doesn't need to be long term investment. I think HeyTutor needs some tutoring in this area!

TOTALLY DISHONEST COMPANY - DO NOT USE

I purchased 10 sessions for my son. He was finally matched with a tutor. She looked at his lesson and said she didn't have time for it. She told him to call the help desk. I CALLED the help desk. What tutor tells a student they don't have time to help?
The second tutor looked at the assignment and said he could help but my son would need to Venmo him payment!! By this time it is nearly 9:30PM and the lesson was due at midnight.
The tutor proceeded to tell my son not to use HeyTutor, but to just get in touch with him instead, and it would be cheaper.
I called HeyTutor to complain I specifically told them not to allow the tutor to contact my son again. Guess what?? The tutor started calling him. Harassing him! My son blocked the tutor. I have yet to get a refund from the company or the tutor!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are not reputable, or honest, or forthcoming.

This place is Horrible

This place is Horrible! They take your money upfront and then they take their sweet time "trying" to find you someone. I paid a ton of money upfront and then they want to wait until the very last minute to say they did their job by "matching" you with someone. They charged me for their 10 hour package, but only provided me with two hours of actual service. I stressed to them over and over that I needed an in-person tutor by a certain time and they assured me they could provide me with one by that specific date! DO NOT USE!

Tutors not proficient in the programs. I was set up 3x with 2 different tutors and both were not helpful for the program I needed tutoring in. They make you pay a lot of money upfront that it non-refundable. Stay away and don't sign up.

Thank you

Imagine being stuck in lockdown with no income and no one to turn to. I am an orphan with no one in the name of family. Giving tuitions is my only source of income. I was scared thinking that this pandemic would ruin things for me. But fortunately, I am associated with a beautiful bunch of people who continued giving me assignments knowing my situation. HeyTutor, Thank you for making me a part of your family.

Best English tutor

I don’t know how many people leave reviews here and not even sure anyone is going to read this. But if someone in authority is reading my review, please know that my son’s tutor, Rachel is the best English tutor and she deserves a raise and recognition. She is fantastic.

Avoid this service; not a business that cares for its clients

I wish I had read the reviews here prior to signing up with HeyTutor. They indeed are very quick to take your money up-front, and then effectively disappear. The tutor I was put in contact with after specifying what I was after was not a fit. After that, I never heard back from them; once they have your money, they're done.

I called today to get my account cancelled, they will not do it. I haven't experienced anything like this for the 5 years I've been living in the US.
