Great concept, poor execution

Great concept with connection of training plan to nutrition. I benefited from the increase in food it recommended, my training felt solid but I could never loose weight on the level of feeding it recommended.

It needed the ability to adapt to the user once it had a few weeks data.

The food logging experience is terrible, the worst I have ever used. It was impossible to log good clean food sources.

I don’t regret using it, as it realigned my concept of how much to eat for training. But I can’t deal with its clunky interface and terrible food logging anymore

I liked the overall concept of the app…

I liked the overall concept of the app and what it’s trying to offer for cyclists. The integration of training and nutrition is genuinely useful, and one of the positives for me was that I very rarely felt hungry while using it. It definitely helped create more structure around fuelling.

That said, I didn’t feel the execution matched the price point.

Food logging also felt quite clunky, which is probably the most important daily interaction in the app. A lot of fairly basic foods were missing, and the barcode scanning function rarely worked properly for me, so entering meals often became laborious rather than seamless.

I also suspect my metabolic rate is on the lower side, but there didn’t seem to be much ability to fine tune energy expenditure beyond a few broad lifestyle/activity categories. The recommendations therefore sometimes felt a bit generic.

Overall, I think the concept is strong and there’s definitely value there, but at its current price I expected a more polished and user friendly experience.

For Serious Athletes, Hexis Is a Game Changer

Hexis has been the single greatest improvement to my training and performance since I first started training with power data years ago.

Like many endurance athletes, I spent years training in a chronically under-fueled state without realizing the impact it was having on performance, recovery, and adaptation. Hexis has completely changed that for me. The integration with TrainingPeaks allows you to fuel specifically for the work you need to do each day, and the difference has been remarkable. In just a few months, I’ve seen more positive changes in my body composition, recovery, and performance than I had in years of cycling.

As others mentioned, there was a small setback following a recent update, but what impressed me most was how responsive and engaged the Hexis team was throughout the process. They were fully aware of the issues, communicated openly, and worked diligently not only to restore the platform to its previous standard, but to improve it beyond where it was before — which they’ve now done.

For serious athletes who genuinely want to perform at a higher level, Hexis is a non-negotiable. I can honestly say it has fundamentally changed the way I train.
