If I could choose 0 stars I would

If I could choose 0 stars I would. Horrible customer service with little to no response nor any hopeful resolution to what seems to be a simple problem to resolve. I correctly ordered my daughter’s cap and gown for her upcoming college graduation. The packing materials and invoices all showed the correct university. What I received was a cap and gown for a NY university- very far from her Texas based college. After numerous phone calls, emails, and picture evidence proof, I have not received the correct gown nor was I given even the promise of a new gown. Just dead silence or confusion from the customer service rep as to what he could offer me. Outrageous. How are they still in business????

Graduation Announcement - HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

Ordered/paid for graduation announcements and received with the University name not printed on the announcement (they acknowledged that was wrong) and the degree had an extra “s” (in other words it was misspelled). They stated they would reprint but I would have to pay 50% of the reprint. Their drop down was wrong, but they stated I should have told them that their information was wrong (I honestly did not review it as I thought I was only responsible for what I typed in (name and address). Long story short - they are going to reprint (not fixing the spelling error on their part) and send to me and I should have them in two weeks. I will be sending them out via USPS and they will be received a day or two before the graduation - TOO LATE! Paper quality is poor, spelling mistake and missing University name (really?????). No offer to send overnight and also they will not credit back my order as it was a confirmed order (that they screwed up). I would never ever recommend this company to anyone - avoid! Use a different supplier or better yet create some on your own.

I ordered my stole for my college graduation from Herff Jones. I ordered past the deadline for regular shipping and had to pay an extra $30 for rush shipping. I was okay with this, thinking that my package would, in fact, be shipped in a rush. I’ve waited well over a week with no notification of shipment. I’ve reached out to customer service who assured me it should arrive within two weeks. I’ve sent several emails since then addressing my concerns that we’re approaching two weeks and it hasn’t shipped yet and I’m getting completely ghosted. I have no issue paying rush shipping but I certainly expect my package to get here quickly if I do and I am incredibly unhappy with the way Herff Jones has handled this issue.

They are the worst

They are the worst. When my son went to pick up his ring at school they told him it wasnt paid for when i had paid it in full. Then it took at least a week or more to get a hold of someone to ask about it. Which they did confirm it was paid for he continued to tell me someone would call me or my son to pick up the ring within a week and no one ever call I've stopped by the Brownsville office a couple of times when they say they will be open and no one is ever there. It is so frustrating.

Makes consumers responsible for their errors while holding your money hostage!

Ordered my son’s graduation cap & gown for May 2026 commencement on 3/16. He received on 4/1, only to open the box to a packing slip with someone else’s name and their graduation attire. Called customer service and in order for them to fix THEIR mistake and send my actual paid for order, they require us to send to them pictures of the box and all the wrong items THEY sent, which must be put through a “quality review”, and send the wrong items back via FedEx and send them the tracking number BEFORE they will reorder and fulfill the CORRECT order!! I have NEVER heard of a company making the consumer responsible for proving it was the company’s mistake!!! Must happen a lot that they have this kind of policy to begin with. They should start making their fulfillment quality control folks accountable instead of their consumers!! Won’t refund my money either without me sending back THEIR ERROR, which means I have to spend my time and gas to go to FEDEX. Unfortunately this company is the only vendor for cap and gowns for this university, so they know there is nothing they can’t do to screw their customers. For a company whose products are focused on celebration and achievement, you’d think they’d do WAY better on the customer service side of things.

My daughter waited 5 weeks for her cap

My daughter waited 5 weeks for her cap, gown, tassel and hood. When she received the package, 5 days before her pictures were scheduled, the tassel and hood were missing. Upon calling customer service they told her they would look into it but could not get the items to her before her graduation picture session. No compensation, no overnight delivery, nothing! My daughter has worked so hard for her Master’s. This company is a joke. I hope the university she attends looks into another company because my daughter is not the only one this has happened to.

we put a deposit on the ring and paid for cap and gown. when we saw the ring we were astonished at how cheap the ring looked and decided to not get the ring, knowing we would forfeit our deposit. now the company is demanding another 100$ in order to release the cap and gown which we already paid for . this is despicable . I highly recommend finding another company to do business with. Herff Jones customer service rep ,Jamie, was rude and very unapologetic. BUYER BEWARE

Order elsewhere if you an get away with it

I’m graduating with my doctorate. Kind of a big deal. Worked my whole life for this. I buy a $200 dollar regalia set. The gown is a joke- it was falling apart when it got to me. The hood has no point of attachment to the actual gown, which means the hooding ceremony is going to be fun. I will be surprised if the gown lasts through the graduation- and I’m only supposed to wear this outfit for every ceremony I attend as a PhD holder. This was something that I was supposed to have forever to represent my Alma mater and instead, I’ll have to buy a replacement gown off of Amazon after one use. I would personally punch the owner of this company in the face if I could. All this work to graduate and THIS is what you get? Some thrift store regalia that doesn’t even function? BS. Do. Not. Buy. Anything. From. This. Company

Extremely frustrating experience with…

Extremely frustrating experience with Herff Jones while trying to resolve issues with my Boston University graduation regalia order. Customer service was unhelpful and communication was very poor. I worked with a representative named Thandi, and instead of addressing my concerns, she repeatedly re-explained numbers that still didn’t add up and never clarified the discrepancies.

I was also told that certain items were suddenly “packaged” together, which prevented them from being refunded individually—something that was never made transparent when I placed the order. Because of this, I was unable to receive a full refund for items I should have been able to return.

Overall, the process lacked transparency and was incredibly frustrating. For such an expensive graduation purchase, the customer service experience was extremely disappointing.

Herff Jones told me 5-6 weeks to replace a bezel and re-size my college class ring. Two months later, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. By the time I receive the ring, it will be way past two months. Told me they are understaffed and things are taking longer.

Terrible customer service / slow delivery

February 23, 2026: I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the level of customer service from this company. My son’s school uses them for both letterman’s jackets and class rings. Delivery of both has taken months. Both were ordered and paid in full last fall. The jacket only arrived a couple of weeks ago and the class ring has still not been delivered. I learned today from the company that the sales rep “didn’t have time to deliver the rings to the school” for distribution and so the ring was sent via USPS more than a week ago. It hasn’t arrived of course. Additionally if it does arrive it won’t be left because it requires a signature and since I work, no one will be home. I am mystified why the sales rep had time to come collect the orders but didn’t have time to deliver expensive rings back to the campus. Instead the company elected to mail them. I consider this to be awful customer service. They don’t keep customers informed. Their products are very expensive but they don’t have time to deliver them to the schools! I had to call to get any information - there has been no communication from Herff Jones since they took more than a thousand dollars from me last fall. I do not recommend this company to any school considering using them for important items like letterman jackets and class rings.

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience with Herff Jones.

I purchased a $100 graduation package through my school, and initially, only the cap and gown were delivered to the school. The remaining items in the package were not provided until I made repeated calls and sent multiple emails to follow up. This lack of organization and accountability is unacceptable, especially when families are paying significant amounts during an already expensive milestone event.

Charging $100 for what is essentially a cap and gown rental — which must be returned — is excessive. The additional items included in the package were of extremely poor quality and did not justify the cost. The overall value of what was received does not align with the price charged.

Graduation is a meaningful occasion for students and their families. Companies that operate in this space should prioritize transparency, reliability, and fair pricing. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I strongly encourage others to carefully review their options before purchasing.

Extortion like predatory behavior

Our university requires rental from Herff Jones in order to participate in graduation. If you want to purchase your regalia to avoid wearing old used gowns they will not allow you buy rental style gowns. The only things you can purchase are their highest end designer level regalia in the thousand dollar range. I was forced to rent and my tam came with a center crease and the gown has a gps tracking device. Did not get the hood I paid for with my delivery. You can’t call anyone or email. Repeatedly redirected to a website. I did eventually get my hood, thank goodness I was luckier than some. From online reviews it looks like I should prepare myself for Herff Jones to pretend they don’t get my return so they can take another $500 from me. Very worried.

I'd give them a .2 if I could. They're abnoxious customer service, over price and sub standard college rings and non-functional we site combine to provide one of the worst retail experiences in my 68 years. Stay far, far away!

Herff Jones' School Reps Need to be Vetted

I am a proud mom of a senior student at a local high school in Newnan, Georgia. Of Course, the school uses this company (Scholastic Images, an affiliate of Herff Jones) for all of the senior swag and cap & gowns. I went to a senior parent meeting yesterday and stood in line for about 15 minutes. The representative, named Todd, was helping a lovely couple in front of me. While they were filling out the form for their son, Todd looked at me and left the table. I thought that was odd, but didn't say anything. I stood and observed his next actions. He proceeded to pass out forms to white parents, but continually bypassed the African-American parents. I looked at two other parents who were African-American, and they looked at me and shook their heads. I finally just picked up a form and filled it out. I then noticed that he came back around the table and started assisting the white couple that was behind me. If I could have purchased my child's cap and gown through anyone else, I would have. I will be returning all of the gear I bought and only purchasing the cap and gown. My advice to the company is, "If you are going to send representatives to the school, please make sure that they are okay with interacting with people of color.

Refuse to refund for services not provided

The cap and gown arrived for my son's graduation, nothing else did. We canceled the rest of the order right before graduation, because it would too late to send announcements after the event. We requested a refund of the $499.52, they sent an invoice stating it was refunded, but months later still haven't seen a dime. They only respond with a screenshot of the invoice, funds were never sent to our account.

Charged $500 even though items were returned …

My daughter received her doctoral stoal, cap, and gown. We had 3 days to return the items after graduation with a pre-printed label. We returned within 2 days and have receipts from the Office Depot shipping. Three months later we were charged $500 for not returning. We have called numerous times and they hang up every time just as the line is picked up. We emailed and they apologized for the error and said it would be fixed. After several days of it not being fixed, I disputed the charge with my credit card company. This company is running a scam.

Don’t buy!

My school had our cap/gowns manufactured by this company and it was absolutely ridiculous for the budget they (the school) had.
Quality is terrible: the material is the same sort of fabric I’d find with a cheaply made costume off Amazon. Zipper was not visually broken but, it could not be closed no matter what angle or direction you decided to tug it, or even how careful you went.
This is more of a personal opinion nevertheless, the design is tacky and is even more obvious with brighter colors in comparison to at least having most features hidden with black. Party City might have better graduation gowns…
