Profit Over Principles at Hemmat Law Group
I joined Hemmat Law Group expecting a principled, client-centered practice. Instead, I discovered a business model that placed profit ahead of ethics. Within days, I learned that clients were being charged large, non-refundable “trial fees.” In an internal message, the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, John Avi Socha, confirmed that these fees were intended “to dissuade clients from going to trial.” That statement spoke volumes about the firm’s approach to client autonomy and justice.
When I questioned this practice, I was dismissed less than a day later under vague claims of “communication issues.” There was no discussion, no review, and no interest in addressing the substance of my concern. Since then, the firm’s conduct in related proceedings has only reinforced the same pattern: evasion, defensiveness, and attempts to control the narrative rather than confront the facts.
In my professional view, this is not the culture of a transparent or ethical law firm. Clients deserve candor, fairness, and respect—not internal policies designed to discourage them from exercising their rights. I would advise anyone considering hiring or working with Hemmat Law Group to proceed with extreme caution.
