Helpling is an online marketplace that helps match you with reviewed and insured, local cleaners. Payment is all done online too, so you'll never need to worry about cash again. To book, all you need to do is pop in your postcode, choose the time that works best for you and browse the cleaners available in your area before booking. Simple.

Excellent cleaner and easy booking process

Whilst this is a good service in principle, they cannot wait to find ways to take extra money from you. The platform is designed to get you to accidentally book multiple sessions (but not cancel them) or not easily cancel or amend your slots. The reminders come after the cancellation window has closed so you’ll find you’re suddenly expecting a cleaner you hadn’t booked. I got fined 2/2 times. The cleaners also complain about not getting enough of the cash you pay. You’re genuinely better going direct. I’d never use again.

Helpling have been fantastic at finding me a regular cleaner and also someone to stand in when my regular cleaner was unwell.

Very useful and easy-to-use service. Finding a cleaner was very easy. More expensive that it used to be, but oh well.

We have been using the Helpling platform for the past 3 years to find suitable cleaners. We absolutely love using Helpling as it's super simple for customers to use. You can easily amend your bookings, communicate and chat with the cleaners and have great visibility over your invoices and pricing. The costumer service is also very helpful and always responds promptly to any queries raised. We definitely would recommend Helpling!

EDIT:
Helpling replied to my email saying they had a technical problem with their phone line. Interestingly, other reviewers have said the same as me going back well over a year. Very strange for a technical issue to last such an incredibly long time!
I'll look for a reliable cleaning company that can provide its advertised service in the future.
---
First appointment was today at 9 am. Cleaner didn't show & didn't message beforehand to let me know.
Helpling's telephone number has been disconnected and no longer works. Still advertised on its website though, and Helpling still recommends you call it if you have any problems. Why keep advertising a disconnected number on the website...? - it comes across as very unprofessional.
At least Helpling also links to its Whatapp, you think. Except that messages sent to this also get ignored.
So I resort to sending emails to try and get a response. Again, all completely ignored.
The appointment cost £50 in total, which is fairly reasonable for 2.5 hours. Still, it's not a small sum of money and at this moment in time, I've got no idea whether I'll be charged for an appointment that never took place.
There's no way to report a no show on the website either, so I've just got to wait and see whether the cleaner lies & confirms the appointment. I won't even be able to query that on the website. Meaning I'll then need to go through the whole rigmarole of claiming the charges back through my bank.
I also had an appointment at 10 am this morning which I had to cancel, as I had no idea whether the cleaner would ultimately turn up. I wouldn't have needed to do this if Helpling had actually provided working contact details.
Out of the £50, around £7.50 is paid to Helpling for management & support, which seems completely unreasonable considering zero management & support is actually provided.

Great service, they matched me up with a cleaner quickly and the messaging worked fine. The cleaner who came round was spot on, did a good job and very friendly. I had to go for a one off, which is more expensive, but it worked out fine and looks like you can get discounts if you do a long term commitment.

My husband and I were in the process of moving, so he contacted them two days before the move to ask if they could help.
They were not only on time, but they additionally found a team to arrive the morning of our move-out date.
They were thorough, communicative, and simplified the entire process!
We were so pleased with their service that we hired them to do maintenance cleaning at our new home.
They are an exceptional team that provides the best customer service in the market.

Ok so updating my review several weeks later.
Firstly, I was invited by helpling to write a review after my first clean in exchange for a voucher (which I never received) and so please bear that in mind when reading other reviews.
Secondly, beware the regular/recurring clean option - I hadn't read the T&C's well enough (my fault) and so hadn't realised that I'd committed to six cleans within a certain amount of time otherwise I'd be fined a early cancellation fee of £60. Even though I was looking for a regular cleaner, I should have just done a one off clean to see how I found the platform. I would have tried to cancel before now if I wasn't tied in.
In terms of my actual experience, I've had four cleans through helpling. The first cleaner was great and she came twice and then left helpling. My next cleaner was well reviewed but the clean wasn't good and she had a poor attitude (I asked her to focus on cleaning the grout in flooring of the small downstairs loo instead of cleaning the living room and hoovering/mopping the hallways and she complained that it couldn't be cleaned and would take too long). The cleaning service isn't cheap (£18 a hour plus fees) so you should be able to expect a great service
The next cleaner I was allocated had little experience with helpling (which I queried with them and said I wanted someone with more experience) and they said just because she hasn't done many cleans with helpling, that didn't mean she wasn't experienced and so I tried her anyway. She was lovely and generally did a good job but she has damaged my kitchen tap - I'm sure it was accidental but whatever she did has taken the coating off the tap so it's now two different colours. I'm guessing this is due to a lack of experience in terms of knowing what cleaning products can be used on what. Now I need to buy a new tap and find a plumber. So instead of helpling making my life easier, it's instead given me another headache. Unclear if their insurance will cover it as they expect you to resolve anything under £310 with the cleaner yourself (not ideal) and I'm unsure how much it will cost. Also given the cost of living atm, I'm not keen to take that large amount of money from her and using the insurance would be much better. I had seen they were insured but hadn't realised the threshold was so high
I've contacted them re the damage and also asked to end my regular clean as I don't want any cleaners damaging my home. Unclear what they'll say
I also feel the rating system isn't great - I don't think you get honest reviews from ratings for a person, compared to reviews of a product, for example on Amazon. So I'm not convinced you can trust the reviews. For my second cleaner, I just switched cleaners rather than leave a less positive review given the impact it would have on her profile/ability to get work. I'm also not sure what to review the most recent cleaner because a negative review could stop her getting work but also I don't want damage due to inexperience to happen for other people.
Guess I was unlucky re the damage but hope the experience and the info re minimum number of cleans, the insurance and a word of warning re the reviews is helpful for others.
Original review:
Straightforward to book and great, friendly cleaner. Looking forward to my next clean

I really like Helpling! I trust the cleaners on their site and I think their customer service is very good. I also like the website in general as it's super easy to change appointments and message the cleaner if needed.
