I've heard a lot about headspace and it sponsoring certain youtubers etc, so when my work offered a free membership, I signed up. The meditations were all very strange, not particularly relaxing or me... See more

Offered me a free trial charged same day
Offered me a free trial, and when I signed up charged me automatically £50 on the same day with no free trial, and now they are refusing to refund me. After 7 days of trying to contact them via email I eventually had to find them on Instagram to get a hold of anyone. They said I must have already used a free trial years ago and so now I have to pay. So WHY did you offer me a free trial if I wasn’t eligible? It should say ‘sorry you aren’t eligible for this service.’ At this point I don’t even know if they’re lying if I did use a free trial it must have been sooo long ago.
They have now told me to speak to Apple. But I don’t think Apple are going to be much use either. It’s so funny to me how a company can take your money but have problems giving it back.
Do NOT use this company, scammers.
Use CALM for great experience
I was on a free “trial” and noticed that they put through my bank a yearly fee before the trial was up. Customer service is horrific.
Dreadful experience
Dreadful experience. They took £49.99 without warning, partly my inattention. I tried now to reset my password in order to cancel my subscription. Headspace said they would send an email. They didn't. Went to Trustpilot and was horrified by the poor reviews.
DO NOT USE HEADSPACE, THEY ARE THIEVES
I subscribed to the headspace app following a recommendation by my psychologist. Less than 48 hrs into listening to various relaxing themed scenarios I realised this was not for me and 'is not fit for purpose'
The relaxing music is dreadful and all music sounds the same, I felt more anxious trying to listening to this garbage.
**Do yourself a favour and don't waste your money!**
I urge anybody who is thinking of using the headspace app to steer well clear of it. It should be called mindf**k app.
Also in Australia under Australian Consumer Law if something is not fit for purpose then you can ask for a refund, but not this company they refused refund and gave a complimentary 2 month access for a friend (as if I'm going to do that)
This company is exploiting people who are trying to get through traumatic events in their lives. I put my faith and money into hoping you could help but now you've just added another stress in my life - SHAME ON YOU HEADSPACE!
**I do not recommend this app as these people are scoundrels**
Avoid headspace like a the plague.
Sneaky Auto renewal and no reply to email complaint
Auto renewal - like other reviewers, there was no prior reminder like most decent companies do before annual renewal, just had the ‘thank you for payment’ notification. I emailed straight away explaining that I haven’t used in months and didn’t want to renew, got a holding email, then a ‘sorry for delay’ email and then nothing and no reply to my next two emails. I have since raised this through pay pal in the hopes that they take that seriously, but I am extremely disappointed that a ‘wellbeing’ app treats people this way. I do not recommend and would suggest using one of their competitors.
Abysmal “customer care”, be very careful of their small print
I find it abhorrent that a company touting mental health would screw someone out of £50 they can’t afford for a renewal on an app that they haven’t used in 6 months with no warning or way to decline the auto-renewal!
Not a scam
I used to have issues with sleep and generally being reactive and letting my feelings get the better of me, outside of the meditations there are focus sounds and music, including Hans Zimmerman and John Legend, daily messages of being grateful and tips on dealing with daily stress, and most importantly for me is the sleepcasts which are short stories that send me to sleep each night, including stories of cats that live in a marina and cozy cottages. Has honestly improved my life and ability to be more reflective.
A lot of these bad reviews are people that clearly don't understand how re-subscriptions work and that deleting an app doesn't equal cancelling a pay subscription... And quite honestly with the amount of new content being made each week, and all the big names and qualified people making exclusive content for the app I can see where the money goes
I regret my free trial.
I wasn't conviced by what the subscription offeres so I wanted to end my free trial. But the app had an issue, so I just deleted the app thinking that was that. Instead, they billed me the annual price. I kindly requested a refund, but they said no. There are a bunch of people this happened to on reddit and other forums. It's super unethical for a company making it's money with meditation and mental wellness.
Scam
Scam! They will set up auto billing outside of the Apple Store and not notify you of auto renewal and then refuse to refund you! Don’t but this app! Just out for the money!
Horrible customer service
As many people here have written, I signed up in November 2022. A year later they charged me for another year at £50 without any warning or reminders. I contacted them within minutes. I have had no reply or response.
At a time when the cost of living is affecting so many people, it is inhuman that they are causing so much mental and financial distress. For all their claims of promoting mental health they are just money grabbing scammers.
Dont bother trying to sign up for the current 50% 0ff
Do they never check their payment page, i know of at least 5 other people including myself who have tried over various days and times to sign up and when it comes to making payment it fails. And its nothing to do with the banks either we have all checked With the various banks. . Come tomorrow the deal will no longer be available. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel, balance app is offering a free years trial. So we will all sign up to their app instead. Judging by the many poor reviews here i guess we have all had a lucky escape.
resolution department
Their resolution department is terrible. I signed up Nov 2022 and shortly tried to cancel. A year later they charged me for another year. I contacted them immediately and they said they cancelled the Nov 2024 renewal but they couldn't reverse the Nov 2023 charge. I don't even have or use app. Still trying to get $ back.
Dont let me cancel my sub. .. i canceled it with apple but they still charged me 59$
Evil Company
Fraud
Fraud. They keep sending promotions, but the website won't let you have them.
Why would anyone trust them with their credit card?
Paid for a yearly subscription, and only got 3 months
I have had constant problems with Headspace (from gifting a subscription to my niece and her not being able to use it until much time and energy was spent arguing with customer service, to paying for a yearly subscription for myself and them cancelling my account after only 3 months). I have sent them at least a dozen emails to no avail. I get the same automatic reply saying they are sorry for the delay in getting back to me and then never receiving an actual response to any of my emails or responses to the automated email. In other words they NEVER get back to me. It’s pathetic that this company constantly talks about awareness and compassion yet it’s quite obvious that they have none. I am a 56 year old woman who often has to work 16 hour days. I also have number of health conditions including severe polyneuropathy which causes an intense amount of severe chronic pain and I desperately needed an app that addresses both mental and physical health. With this app I not only got neither, I got a large dose of added stress to my life. And yeah, $70 for a yearly subscription might not be a lot of money to Andy Puddicombe—the man who started and runs Headspace—but it is to me as well as to the average Joe or Josephine. I can’t afford to buy another subscription to another app and I don’t have the many extra hours of free time to spend listening to all the advertisements that you are forced to listen to when using a free app. So I am screwed. If you are looking for an ethical meditation app, this is definitely not the one. And I’m sure Andy Puddicombe is well aware of his app’s crappy customer service; after all he incessantly talks about awareness being the main goal of meditation. This company doesn’t care about people; they care about money, otherwise they would have addressed their poor customer service issues years ago.
I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and enough unhappy customers do so as well, I can guarantee they will make improvements, because you see, it’s all about the money for them.
Headspace
To try out headspace medtations and to close my eyes and do some deep breaths to help me

I feel like I feel better after doing it
I feel like I shouldn't worry too much about things
Awful customer service I have contacted…
Awful customer service I have contacted them numerous times. My subscription renewed as expected however it has since been cancelled and I cannot use the app unless I do a free trial. The settings say my subscription runs until 2024 however it is not working for me. I'm sure Andy Puddicome or started this would be disappointed at this poor service.
F… scammers
F…king scammers, recharged for a YEARLY subscription without ANY warning.
Dodgy
I signed up for the free 14 day trial and got charged a £49.99 yearly subscription. I've contacted them but no reply as of yet.
I am genuinely puzzled by the numerous…
I am genuinely puzzled by the numerous poor reviews for Headspace because my personal experience has been overwhelmingly positive. This app has been a game-changer in my journey towards better mental well-being.
Headspace offers a wide range of intense courses that delve into various meditation practices. These courses are accompanied by helpful videos and exercises that provide valuable insights and techniques for personal growth. I have found these resources to be incredibly beneficial in managing stress, improving focus, and cultivating mindfulness.
One aspect that stands out is the seamless video playback. Unlike other apps I have tried, Headspace ensures that the videos always play without any technical glitches or interruptions. This uninterrupted experience allows me to fully engage with the content and maximize the benefits of each session.
In conclusion, I believe that the negative reviews for Headspace do not reflect the exceptional quality and effectiveness of this app. My personal journey with Headspace has been transformative, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a reliable and comprehensive mindfulness app. Give it a try, and you may find it to be a true game-changer in your life as well.
