Not enough range

The catalogue in Austria is sadly rather small, with barely any movies or shows. Hopefully, this will change over the year, but right now, it is not worth it.
Also, there are way too many ads. For a 45-minute show, you have to watch approx. 3 minutes of ads.
With Disney+ or Prime, it's not even two minutes.

Movie and Ad Volume Levels are not Equalized

I have just started watching some shows on the HBO Max website.

1) My biggest complaint is that when the player switches between the movie and the advertising, the volume levels adjust. I normally listen to stuff on my computer at a headset volume of 30. But when I watch a movie on HBO Max, I have to turn the volume up to around 60+ or usually even 80 in order to hear the conversations. But then when the movie switches to an ad, the volume of the ad is WAY TOO LOUD to listen too. So then I'm scrambling to turn my headset volume back down to around 30. Not only is this frustrating, it is also a safety issue with acute hearing.

2) Also, the video player often times looses it's place when it switches back from an ad to the movie... and next thing I know, I'm rewatching scenes from the movie that happened 20+ or even 40+ minutes prior. It is almost like the website player forgets what ad break it was on, and picks a previous ad break to start back on.

I tried to resubscripe on their website

I tried to resubscripe on their website, what a nightmare. Kept telling i was unable to change my plan. Thier suggestions just ran me in circles, totaly useless. Then when I tried using their chat bot for help, I got nowhere, has no option for the error message i was getting and cant talk to a real person,
Netflix is it, how does HBO max stay in business with the worst service ever.

Slow as it can be

Go ahead and brown the hamburger then cook the spaghetti and add homemade sauce while you wait for HBO Max to load on your smart TV. Believe me, you will have plenty of time before it launches.

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever! Never helped me. Kept sending the same email over and over. After I ask for help, then a supervisor, them billing. I was being charged twice for my subscription and they didn’t care. I finally had to cancel.

hbo max the worst streaming

hbo max is possibly the worst quality streaming service, hbo amateurs can't even make good buffering or force the highest quality always, instead like anti-consumers they are, they downgrade the streaming quality. not even prime or skyshowtime does this... old movies on prime are shown in better quality than anything new on hbo's max turd. those who sacrifice quality for stability don't deserve even a broken cent.

The worst platform

The worst platform.

Try to avoid if you can.

Here is how they fck with people.
As HBO moved to new region they offerd you life time pay 4,2e per month great no?
After they settle in country they changed it not 4,2 but 33% discount from original price. They increased subscription and you have to pay 5,2 (33%discount from subscription)
As before you was streaming in the best quality, they took it away from you as well now only HD quality for more money.
After some time they changed that again for 6,99 (which is 33% from standard subscription) the year one is 99,9 but you cant pay yearly because this 33 is only for montly subscription. So they fck you again. This is how they treat loyal customer which sign in from beginning,
The worste part is if you travel you can’t use it as its not workingoutside of your country.
So bad servise and so bad atitude.
Its also crashing on my tv from time to time.0

Customer care is zero and they fool you

Don’t buy it! As soon as you have a subscription is game over for you! I’ve been battling an issue with the customer service team for over 3 months and their answer is just a macro without zero care for your problem or even trying to understand the issue.

I am paying for my subscription plus an add on for sports and what do I get? A proper “don’t care, don’t bother” from them. It’s an easy and simple “issue”, which makes it even sadder and shows the importance you have a as a customer. You’re just another dollar on their pocket.

Be careful with these guys.

Deceptive practices keep you locked in. After several rate increases I’ve been trying to cancel for well over 6 months. Impossible to cancel. BE AWARE. chat bots are useless. Emails have not been returned. Phone calls unresponsive. Lastly I have this useless platform to uselessly vent. Trust pilot does nothing to help any consumer. I’m knowingly posting just to vent. If you’re reading this be very careful to signing with HBO. Deceitful practices will rope you in and it’s impossible to cancel your subscription. Be very careful with these guys. Super shady.

Can only see very few titles with cheapest subscription

I paid for a months basic subscription to HBO max, but I can only view very few of their movies and I see no way of filtering my search so I can view only the ones that are included in the subscription. Very frustrating as I have to click on each one that seems interesting just to find, on most of them, that I have to pay extra to see them.
Also, somehow the subscription is now weirdly enough on prime, even though it was on HBO that I clicked to join, so now it's very confusing how to cancel.

I was using a VPN so i could watch…

I was using a VPN so i could watch other countries content. Such as Naked and Afraid Brazil, Mexico, Latam. But it wont allow me to do this anymore. I pay a subscription so i can get access to all the content. Wether i use a vpn or not shouldnt matter to the company. Those choices are mine. Ill wait until my sub end and ill not renew it. Im sure the company will lose alot of sub like this. I choose what i want to watch you cant force me to watch the content in my country. Its boring and not worth my money :) unfortounately

App doesn't play the movie sometimes, just frozen. Tried reinstalling, updating, clearing cache. But still has problem playing. Although it allows me to play the trailers.. fix your app!!!

No good service

No good service

I had some foreigner friends in my house last week. We watched some TV shows and movies in English original audio, but in chinese subtitles, as my friends are not so fluent in English. They had a lot of complains about their experience watching HBO Max. It should improve fast and soon!! How could I recommend HBO Max to any friend if I have such bad feedback so far? NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!!
