Used this company for our house move…

Used this company for our house move and was promised two vans and four staff, only three staff turned up and one van did not turn up till 3pm in the afternoon. Also two staff disappeared before lunch leaving me and my friends to do most the move ourselves. Poor service, rude management and would not offer any compensation as a Gesture. Avoid using this company.

Brilliant service

Used Happy Moves today. 4 days before Xmas is not the best time to move but they made the move a painless experience.
Had a few hiccups along the way as our sofa wouldn't fit up the stairs in the new house but Steve sorted that and stored it for us until we could get rid of it.
In all, the fellas that moved us were brilliant and stayed extra hours to get it all done for us. Brilliant service and couldn't be happier with them.

Absolutely terrible experience, anything but a Happy Move!

Absolutely terrible experience, made an already stressful occasion much, much worse. We paid for the packing & removal service. 4 people came the day before the move to pack but only 2 of them seemed to be doing most of the packing. The driver packed a couple of boxes or so and then started to try and load furniture before hardly any packing had been done. He wheeled double sided open storage units out onto the van still containing books (Rare 1st editions) Which he didn’t bother to box or shrink wrap. (We didn’t realise this until the units were unloaded at the other end). He spent most of the day on the van when he wasn’t up our side drive smoking. Another seemed to be wandering around with not much direction and when he did start packing, packed bags with personal effects that I specifically asked not to be packed. The aforementioned two never wore a mask indoors or out all day long. The boss turned up in the afternoon and wrapped a large heavy wooden mirror on our bed, which got left on our bed and we had to lift it off before we went to bed that night. They left at about 4pm having not completed the packing (we were advised it would all be done the day before apart from what we needed for that night). Fortunately we had packed 30 boxes ourselves in the preceding week otherwise they would have beed even further behind. They turned up late the next day on the day of move (10am). The sale completed at midday, (as our solicitor informed us is quite usual.) Our buyers had to wait outside for over an hour when we should have already vacated. Either Happy Moves had wrongly estimated the size of the lorry required for our belongings or it had been badly loaded, either way it meant they could not fit all our belongings on the lorry. This meant they had to put all the excess stuff into the garage until another van could collect it. I spoke to them at 11am that morning & asked if a van was on it’s way for the excess stuff, I was told “ yes, a van is on it’s way”. This was untrue as we were later advised there were no available vans. We had to leave the house with a garage full of our belongings (Fortunately our buyers agreed to this). It meant we were not there to supervise the removal of the stuff left. The extra van didn’t turn up until much later that afternoon/evening and we were advised that the remaining belongings would be loaded and put into storage at the depot but wouldn’t be delivered to our new home until some time the following week! Despite leaving our old address at the same time as the main removal lorry, they arrived at our new address an hour & a half after we arrived. They trod mud into the carpets of our new house, they kept stopping for smoking breaks, they had no barrows to assist them with heavy items or to load multiple boxes, consequently they didn’t finish unloading the lorry until after 9pm. The remaining stuff got delivered 4 days later and items were damaged and missing. When I reported the missing & damaged items to Steve the owner of Happy Moves I was advised that he would check around the yard for them. He later informed me he had found one of the items damaged beyond repair, he made no mention of the other missing items. When we engaged Happy Moves I was advised I could take out their insurance to cover any damage that might occur during the move. I paid about £120 for the insurance cover. When it came to the damaged items he quoted a clause in the insurance policy excluding cover for general wear & tear and claimed that because the items that his company had smashed/damaged were garden items they wouldn’t be covered under the insurance because they would have sustained some wear & tear. This would imply that any outdoor item would not be covered by the policy. Funnily enough he hadn’t mentioned that garden items would not be covered when he he sold me the policy! He offered me “as a goodwill gesture” of £100 compensation. This was significantly less than the value of the damaged goods & missing items, not to mention the inconvenience & stress that we endured. Had the items been put on the main van as they should have been not only could we have ensured that all the items were loaded but additionally they would have only had to have been moved twice. However, because of their cock up our items had to be moved into the garage, onto the van, off of the van at the depot, back onto the van, and off of the van again out our house the next week, clearly multiple moving of items significantly increases the chances of damage. I accepted the £100 compensation not because I was satisfied with it but because the experience of dealing with Happy Moves had been so stressful I just wanted these cowboys out of my life! My advice would be avoid this mob & use a more professional outfit.

Disappointed

Used this company to move in March.
Had 2 items that were damaged by them in transit.
I have emailed the company 3 times regarding the broken items and have sent pictures over. I have told them where the items were bought and given them all the details /pictures to enable them to replace my items but my emails have been totally ignored.
I can understand the delay back in March given the covid situation but now the shops are all open and most things are back to normal there is no way the items they broke shouldn’t be replaced.
So given this lack of customer service I wouldn’t recommend them.

Had the unfortunate experience of…

Had the unfortunate experience of seeing these fools move a customer into a property near us.

Blasting music from the van, smoking cigarettes and shouting to one another, I would highly advise anybody not to use this cowboy company for your removal service.

The best removal company we've ever used

This was our fifth home move and by far the best. Happymoves are a team of total professionals in every way and carried out our home move without any fuss, stress or problem. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.
