£90 PER HOUR FOR A HANDYMAN??

£90 PER HOUR FOR A HANDYMAN??

Make sure you ask for a quote before work is started.
Insist on having a comprehensive breakdown of all materials that to be provided plus hourly rate being charged.

As a woman on her own I was completely ripped off by Longton Handyman.

I was charged £730 for a maximum of eight hours work equating to a £90 hourly rate.
TO PUT INTO PERSPECTIVE
JUNIOR DOCTORS EARN LESS THAN £20 AN HOUR

I was charged for items that I did not receive and jobs that have been left incomplete.
- Spotlight has been left exposing wires hanging from bathroom ceiling;
- Light which I was charged for never provided;
- Sliding wardrobe doors still broken;
- Charged for fixtures and fitting of a TV which was not a job that I needed doing nor was done.

Would you pay £730 for:

- Hanging a mirror x2
- Fixing doorbell
- Attaching key safe to outside wall
- securing backs of 3 kitchen cupboards
- securing kickboards in small kitchen
- Attaching hooks, pictures and small clock to wall
- Drilling two hooks to secure a washing line.

A handyman service - Just don’t do it…

A handyman service - Just don’t do it…

I had a very unfortunate experience with Deal Handyman, and I urge all others to not use this service to avoid encountering the same issues themselves.

On 23 August 2023 I commissioned Deal Handyman to complete a number of tasks for me - one of which was to install and hang a number of pictures for me. The work was duly completed, to what I thought was an acceptable standard.

Unfortunately, on 1 October, a picture that they installed fell off the wall and crashed down to the floor. The work that they had completed was clearly unsafe and not fit for purpose.

On reporting this issue to Deal Handyman, I requested that they refit my picture, making sure that their work was fit for purpose and safe.

The reply I received was a refusal to do this. They suggested that my frame was the issue (incorrect) and that they would accept no responsibility for this. But they’d happily send someone out to make the work safe, but only if I paid an additional hourly rate to do so.

I find this refusal unacceptable. But I have suffered a brain haemorrhage, a stroke and have been in a coma. I am now permanently wheelchair bound, with both legs paralysed and I’m spasticated, and therefore safety is paramount to me. So I’m now unable to pick a picture off the floor, amend the fitting of a picture hook and re-hang the frame. Therefore I find this refusal doubly unacceptable.

I am now left with no choice - I have contacted Citizens Advice and will now take legal action against Deal Handyman.

So my advice is, based on my experience, only use this service if you don’t care about the safety of the work and not fit for purpose is acceptable to you.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE - THEY ARE JUST COWBOYS THAT CARE MORE ABOUT TAKING YOUR MONEY THAN THEY DO ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR WORK.

Home Maintenance Company uses top-notch…

Home Maintenance Company uses top-notch tools to easily complete the work at a reasonable cost with quality. This is a new and innovative idea for a business. Finding a plumber, electrician, painter, or other handyman for our home or office who is fully qualified and able to complete work properly and easily is a very difficult task. Most of the time, we observe that work is delayed for a variety of reasons, including the handyman leaving work in the middle of the day, having no time for you, taking an advance and abandoning your work, and misleading you for his own gain. The mission of HMC is to make hiring a handyman the BEST experience possible for our clients handyman near me. It has a reputable name among UAE technicians in Dubai.

I will use K fixes again

I will use K fixes service again. Very fair pricing, good communication and showed up exactly on time. In fact this will be the second time I’d requested his service.

Handyman treats their employees like UNFAIRLY

Handyman treats their employees like they work in third world country with extremely low wages. They are unfair and unethical. I purchased a closet system that cost almost $1,300. I opted to pay the $667 for installation given it was 96” long and boxes very heavy I thought that was fair but expensive. They sent two workers to my home which was appropriate. I also received a summary of who workers were and the price they were being paid $388. When one of the workers ask me “what I paid for the installation” I told him $667. They both then told me they only were getting $38 each for job and showed me their app validating what they were telling me. I was stunned and appalled. I was then very upset and called Handyman. I was told one of the two managers would return my call but neither did. These workers for Handy should RISE up and say no more. It is unfair practice and misleading customer to make it seem workers are being paid more than they are. VERY UNETHICAL and EXTREMELY UNFAIR. “Handyman” work for Wayfair, Target, Lowes, Walmart just to name a few. We as customers should all stand up for these workers. I am shocked they get away with this. They are also ripping me off, the customer. I pay $667, they pay workers 38x2=$76 and they keep $590. What is the justification for this. What a racket and scam! Stand Up!

One word- HORRIBLE, Horrible, HORRIBLE

This was THE MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE I’VE EVER USED EVEN THOUGH THEY KEPT RESCHEDULING!!! Three first time I was scheduled to have him come out to put my tables together it was at 9PM!!!!! Who wants a stranger on their home at 9pm at night??? So I rescheduled for a day assembly! The day before he was coming guess what? He rescheduled for two days later and I said ok. Then I started getting emails. He rescheduled, rescheduled, rescheduled!!! Literally!! No! That’s when i became super angry! I have boxes in my livingroom and I’m tired of tripping over them!! Then I called Handyman and they told me “because of covid they are having trouble finding a handyman to come to my area! I live in a very rural area but y’all knew this when I first paid for the service! I canceled it and got my daughter in law and her and I got them put together! The one table was actually damaged a little even though it’s does to be brand new but that’s a review for wayfair!! This has been a nightmare!! I’ll NEVER EVER EVER PAY WAYFAIR TO USE THEIR HANDYMAN SERVICE!!

Several Odd Jobs Well Done

Brad Tindell was our technician for the day. He was very polite, courteous, and professional. We had a small list of electrical and carpentry related issues we needed taken care of which he was able to accomplish in a timely manner. There was a conscientious effort to leave the area he was working in better shape than he found it. Would recommend, and will be using this service again.

FANTASTIC SERVICE

This company was quick and easy to contact. Even called me first and helped with my needs over the phone until I requested someone to come out. Came early and stayed until I was happy..
