Hakuna Matata Safaris 

On June 30th, 2019, we sent Ken $3,000 for two gorilla trekking permits. We were nervous sending so much money to a tour operator in Africa but given his reviews we thought we'd be fine. On July 2, Ken assured us the permits had been attained.

When we arrived in Rwanda on August 31st, Ken met us at our hotel and explained that his company had gone bankrupt, that he didn't have our permits, and that he could drive us to the National Park but we'd have to buy permits a second time. Having flown half way around the world we didn't have a choice. He drove us to the National Park and we paid the park $3,000 directly.

Ken promised he would pay us back within 10 days and when the park rangers heard what had happened they made Ken agree to a contract (attached in my tripadvisor review). Of course, we were skeptical. More than 3 months have passed and, unsurprisingly, Ken has not paid us back.

He has an excuse for everything. A new story every day why he just needs
one more day. But ultimately, Ken is a con man. I don't know if he steals the deposits of every customer - other reviews suggest he doesn't - but I know that he's not worth the risk. Do not book a tour with Congo Discovery Tour or Hakuna Matata Safaris - or any tour group Ken Rwema or Barack Nari is involved in

I arranged a four-day safari with Hakuna Matata over the internet. I was traveling on business and I was impressed that they did not charge me a single supplement. The communication with their office was very fast. After establishing a departure date I provided the 50% deposit via Western Union without a problem. They picked me up exactly when they said they would. Because I was traveling alone, I had a private safari van and driver/guide. My driver/guide provided excellent information about the land and people. In the Queen Elizabeth National Park, he got me as close to the animals as possible and let me spend as long or as short a time as I wanted in any one particular spot. A pride of lions walked directly in front of our car, which was spectacular. Hakuna Matata provided exactly what they described in the itinerary. I felt they were honest and treated me well. I would definitely recommend them to others.

The safari operator Kennedy had everything organised and made us feel extremely safe. We did a 3 day tour of Queen Elizabith National Park. He was very well informed and spoke excellent english. Even though we were camping, we were still very comfortable. Meals were all provided.
Since that trip my friend has been back for another tour and I intend to do the same in the near future. All in all we had a fantastic time and can't recommend this tour enough! Thanks Ken

From start to finish everything was perfectly organised. We booked with short notice for the 3 day Queen Elizabeth Safari tour but correspondence with Ken was always swift and he answered any queries fully. Our driver Moses was exceptional, going well above his responsibilities as a driver and truly caring and making sure we had the best time possible as well as being informative about Uganda during the drive to and from. Our Safari guide Innocent was great and had a vast knowledge of the local fauna and flora. The Engiri lodge was stunning, right in the heart of the Savannah but still serving up some of the best food we had all trip and the staff were always friendly. Amongst the Safari we went on a boat tour of Lake George and chimpanzee tracking which added another dimension to the trip and were both very well organised. We both felt that we covered a week's work in the 3 days. Great value for money - Couldn't recommend it highly enough!!

Very uncomplicated communication via WhatsApp. Great service. Good accomodation and food. The Safari itself was a blast. We've seen a lion family with 4 lion babys, a leopard, elephants, buffalos, lots of giraffes ... all from close distance. Joseph was a great driver and guide.

Hakuna Matata a very well organized and Planed Safaris in Queen Elizabethe, Bwindi, Murchison Falls and Kidepo Nationa park, in Uganda, They Gave us Innocent the best guide you can have, we didn't have to do anything except enjoying and relaxing everything.

The accommodations were very beautiful and the locations well chosen. And the game drives were excellent! The gorilla's were the max but also the country itself had much of beauty to offer We learned a lot of the country from our Guide. The food was always very tasteful, and there was always an alternative for the vegetarians of our group.

We are already thinking about the next trip to Congo and probably we will go again with Hakuna Matata.

Amazing Adveture in Africa

During our tour with Hakuna Matata safaris in Rwanda and Uganda all was well organized and our guide managed all for us perfectly. So we can enjoy a spectacular holiday with so many fantastic and impressing moments. We saw all kind of wild animals so close to us. A real safari feeling!!! The accomodations had been placed inbetween with great jungle noises in the night, spectacular views and very nice stuff. My Safaris in Rwanda was great! Fantastic country and travel experience. Ken arranged all transportation and that was comfortable. A professional car driver and tour guide showed us all the highlights of Rwanda and explained a lot about the country. The selected lodges were all very atmospheric, super clean and located at the most beautiful spots. Also, the food was excellent during the trip. And last but not the least: Service. Amazing Experience

Last Mouth I went with my Friends for a 8 day round trip through Uganda, Rwanda and Congo with Hakuna Matata Safaris and the whole journey was beyond expectations.We booked a private tour to Climb Nyiragongo Volcano, gorilla track and chimpanzees. Everything was perfect for us. Communication in advance was good, our driver knew all the important places, additional info about the country and about the animals. We really enjoyed travelling with Hakuna Matata Company! During the trip everything was arranged perfectas well ( good hotels, good food etc).The Gorilla Trekking was an absolute highlight but also the other places impressed with the variety of landscapes and wildlife. There is nothing to complain about!

Me and a friend traveled with Hakuna Matata to see the mountain gorillas in Virunga NP, DRC. Hakuna Matata team arranged everything for us: our hotel in Goma, our permits for the best price (we approached 2 other companies before we heard of Hakuna Matata), they had us picked up at the Rwanda/DRC border and drove us to the
NP and to the DRC/Uganda border, they tour-guided us on our hike to the gorillas, Ken the owner of hakuna Matata, filmed the gorillas for us with our own handy-cam while we were busy taking pictures, and he even made us dinner at his own house in Goma! I wouldn't dare to go to DRC at that time on my own (there was the need for armed UN forces to have a control post at the Rwanda/DRC border). Thanks to Ken of Hakuna Matata I felt safe and welcomed.
Without him I would not have seen wild mountain gorillas in my life so
far.

Ken at Hakuna Matata was amazing when we visited the Rwanda/Goma/Uganda area. Not only did he work with me to set up an excellent itinerary, but he also helped us re-schedule and modify our plans when there were unrelated issues with our Gorilla Permits. On a one-day notice and through a personal contact of his, we were able to audible and travel to Uganda for our trek when Rwanda didn't work out. He was also the local expert-to-know for our trip up the Nyiragongo crater -- one of the most breathtaking experiences of my life!

Oh my God Where do I begin? Ken was amazing at helping me plan this trip. I started in DRC and climbed Mount Nyiragongo and then a safari in Rwanda and Uganda. This was the best trip I have ever been on and Ken really helped to ensure everything was planned perfectly. From the shuttles from the airports, to the climb to the safari everything was planned perfectly. All I had to do was show up :)
