Problem-solving very poor

Problem-solving very poor. I found their verification process painfully long and waste of time as their system wiped out all my uploaded info after my credit card was charged!. Disappointed with the Risk Management Department non-resolution of the problem which was to close my account.Fine by me

If you value you privacy, beware!

Went through the whole process of posting a job and finding a great contractor only to find out that they want a ridiculous amount of information from me to be able to pay the person a couple of hundred bucks (with my credit card!). Photos, government ID, billing address verification, and more! No explanation of how they are keeping that info safe or even why they need it. They justified it with the Patriot Act, which is not intended to apply to a job search engine.
Talk to your friends, find good local contractors and pay them a fair wage.
This site is crazy! What a waste of time!

Worst Freelance site I have worked…

Worst Freelance site I have worked with. We had our account closed because they did not want to work with an LGBTQ+ based company. This is after they stole tons of personal information from me. What a scam!

Bad customer service

I only requested the customer service to look into my verification after uploading all the required documents. I have paid $4.95 for review and the email I got was that my account has been deactivated. Now, they've took my money without doing the verification.

scammer alert.

Employer here. This website counts many scammers. I have posted a job. Then, someone accepted a my agreement for $25. Then, he asked me to add him on skype and asked me to give more money to get the job done.
Then, I discovered that their dispute procedure was super complicated. It looks like they do it on purpose to discourage you from filing a complaint. Also, the dispute procedure is not free:

Cost of Arbitration:
Arbitration costs 5% of the SafePay balance, with a minimum of $25.

This fee is taken from the funds in SafePay.

For example, if there is $1,000 in SafePay when you request Arbitration, the arbitration fee would be, $50.

Fee: $1,000 – 5%= $50
Total amount in Arbitration: $950

If the SafePay balance is $50 or less, the balance will be split between you and the Freelancer.

I'd like to share my experience so no…

I'd like to share my experience so no one else falls into the same situation as I did. I posted my job onto GURU and all was wonderful UNTIL IT WASN'T but it was nop one's fault but my own I thought I found the graphic artist to award and for some reason he told me he wasnt receiving the money I had sitting in the account and being I was such a nice woman would I like to pay him instead through PayPal and I agreed. All was wonderful until it came to doing 9x12 presentation folders that i paid $400.00 for 250 the art work was approved but IT WAS NOT DONE PROPERLY. When I told UPENKUMAR@YAHOO THE PROBLEM HE COULD CARE LESS. AND BEING HE WAS NOT PAID THROUGH GURU I HAVE NO WHERE TO TURN.
UPENKUMAR IS NOT KNOWLEDGABLE & I STRONGLY SUGGEST STAYING AWAY FROM HIM

Gave my horrible vendor a good review in my name over my objections

Buried in the contract somewhere is a clause if you take too long to rate a vendor Guru basically falsifies a "good" rating from you. I was trying to nurse a terrible vendor through getting me some value and silently passed the deadline which eliminated all leverage to motivate him, and a sorely misleading review for future customers. He seemed quite aware of how to game this system, so I suspect many vendors with good ratings are terrible. I lost $5,000.

First, let me say that I am Not paid nor do I have any affiliation with guru.com.

First let me say that I am not paid or have any affiliation with guru.com. I dont know what all the bad reviews are for but I have gotten exceptional customer service. Heres what happened. I hired a freelancer for a project, we were communicating all the way up until the moment i made payment. So naturally i assumed the freelancer ripped me off. So when i paid the freelancer i did not put my money in Safepay so it was not protected. ( i thought Safepay was automatic ) So i called guru.com first thing in the morning and talked to a man by the name of Jim, i think..maybe Joe cant remember. So i explained what happened and without my payment even being protected in Safepay he cancelled the payment for me right away. ( and were also very helpful the 5 times i called back to ask question lol ) But in the end it turned out that it just got late in the UK and the freelancer fell asleep. ( i am in the US ) then a little while after I had called guru.com the freelancer got in touch with me to tell me she had fell asleep, so the freelancer was very apologetic and cleared things up. Later we ran into a problem with the project that caused it not to be able to be completed. ( not the freelancers fault ) So I then called guru.com back and spoke with the same man. I asked him if i could use my Safepay to pay another freelancer. He instructed me on how to do that and now the money is safe in my Safepay ready for the next freelancer i hire. guru.com did a fantastic job at resolving the issue and then helping me get things back on track. There was nothing negative about the experience at all. So im not sure why there is a bunch of negative reviews, but in my situation i received great customer service ( even though i made the mistake of not using Safepay, they still made it right and protected my money ) Maybe they have new staff or a new owner or something but my interaction was very good and properly handled. I have nothing but good things to say about guru.com. So if you are trying to decide if you should use guru.com or not just know that they treated me great, were very polite, and went out of their way to help me. I just wanted to leave this review because they deserve credit when credit is due! Thanks!!

Guru.com - do not trust the freelancer ratings, they can hide bad ones.

Guru allow the freelances to hide bad reviews. Every time a freelancer invoices you, you get the option to review, if you don't review the freelancer automatically gets a good rating. If you have a job going on for months, invoiced each month, this will mean you only get to do a real appraisal at the end, when you find you've been scammed. The Freelancer can then hide the last review and keep the good ones. You complain to Guru and they really do not care. Most of my communications with Guru.com led me to India. Make of that what you will. My advice, stay away from these and Scopic Software who are one of their big freelancer scammers.

This site is a total scam-BBB Rated F'

This site is a total scam. At one time it was a good place to find freelance work but now it's horrible. The BBB rates Guru.com as 'F' because they have not responded to any complaints!!

They have less than 100 'jobs' posted. No sales jobs, Mostly SEO junk. All the 'employers' are scammers in foreign countries. The very few jobs that have looked ok that I have bid on are never awarded and the person that posted them never responds, which leads me to believe they are 'shill' postings, fake postings to make the site look good. Every 'job' has dozens of bidders from Asia. Scares off people in the USA and Canada. Don't pay one dime to this group of scammers.

Now Guru is offering 'web services' whatever that is. Probably the scammers in Asia selling web hosting services. Don't buy it!

Proseigner developer at Guru.com - DO NOT USE

I contracted proseigner to do some Android development work for me. Unfortunately the work was not carried out and the APK's are a waste of time, communications with the developer were terrible, the terms of the signed agreement were not met and after all this Guru.com did nothing to help resolve the matter despite the payment being made through SafePay. A terrible experience - DO NOT USE Guru.com
