Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 280 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers frequently encountered issues with their orders, such as receiving incorrect substitutions or having items unavailable, leading to incomplete deliveries. People also expressed dissatisfaction with product quality, noting short use-by dates on fresh items and changes to recipes. Furthermore, customer service was often described as unhelpful and difficult to engage with, particularly when trying to resolve problems or obtain refunds. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with delivery staff. Several reviewers mentioned drivers being pleasant, polite, and helpful, even going out of their way to assist or being apologetic when issues arose. These positive interactions often contributed to a good delivery experience for those customers.

Extremely Disappointed with ASDA Wallington’s Service and Complaint Handling

I have been ordering from ASDA Wallington for quite a long time, but my experience has gone downhill badly. Many of my orders have arrived with missing, damaged, or incorrect items, and the delivery drivers often show little care when entering the property.

The worst issue happened on 23 June 2025, when a driver damaged my door's panel by carelessly moving his trolley. I opened a case right away, provided photos, and spoke to several customer service representatives and even store managers at ASDA Wallington. Despite all my efforts, nothing has been resolved.

One manager even told me this was a “grey area” that could take years to sort out and advised me to keep calling customer service every week — even though it can take over an hour just to get through. I’ve been given different case numbers for the same issue, and no one has ever updated me on whether this was passed on to ASDA’s insurance team.

It’s extremely frustrating and disappointing to see how poorly ASDA handles complaints and how little accountability there is. I expected better from such a large company. All I want is for ASDA to take responsibility and fix the damage to my door caused by their driver

What has gone wrong with Asda

What has gone wrong with Asda? I've been a home delivery customer for years. They used to be really good for the basics. A couple of years ago I started to find some of my favourite items were out of stock. Some never returned. Over time, more & more vanished. Substitutios became a regular occurrence & mistakes crept in. I hung on in there as I valued my regular delivery slot. Then a couple of months ago the app changed. What a mess! Booked deliveries beyond the next one vanished. My shopping bag contains a permanent item I can't get rid of. My shopping lists have gone to be replaced by a generic Favourites list of everything I've ever bought (well over 200 items.). It's useless & frustrating. And still favourite items are going out of stock (2 more last week). I can't go on like this every week & I'm not optimistic it will change. I'm done & I've finally given up & gone elsewhere.

Expected delivery for a party had a call to say could not find us even though been delivering here for 9 years !!! I called straight back and got voicemail both times Then during delivery slot 4-6pm at 5.30 pm they cancelled the order o called customer service and they told me order cancelled as not enough delivery drivers - all lies and very inconvenient so order at your peril and hope You receive the order but do by trust it!
Terrible customer service even had the nerve to say have a great evening when the party had been ruined by lack of food and drink!

What happened to the good deliveries?

I have been buying online as it was easier to get all things at once as I tend to get stuff for a few weeks in advance. I think I'll stop Asdas service as this is a third time in a row they sneakily put in meat, fish and chicken with best before dates which litterally runs out in two days as if I am dumb and won't check dates. One order had chicken thighs with the plastic film ripped open on the actual package and stuffed in a plastic bag as if nothing was wrong with it. Several orders had quite litterally rotten produce with mold. I don't know how you train your pickers, but putting opened chicken, rotten produce or things going out of date in the delivery it's potential health hazard and can make someone very sick. Was looking forward to having pork chops for dinner, had to return it to delivery driver. Atrocious service.

I would give them zero rating

I would give them zero rating if possible. I have had problems with both their delivery service and their store on Beverley Road in Hull. Deliveries. I stopped using them because what I ordered was often not there. When you insisted that you did not want substitutes, they would deliver half empty or worse orders. How bad is that? Customer service. Sometimes staff who lose their rag for no obvious reason. And address you with a degree of overfamiliarity which is just plain obnoxious. And then they whinge to the media when people are like that with them. The term 'poor service' is generous. The latest. They are letting aggressive marketers operate outside their stores. I experienced a group of them a few days ago. Energy switchers. These characters are obnoxious. Their manner is rather like aggressive beggars. ASDA think it is OK for aggressive marketers to confront customers as they enter and exit their stores. It is not OK. The staff, security and managers do not give a damn. They fob you off with the usual verbal, It is all insincere and totally cynical. Why bother complaining? Just turn your back on them. ASDA will now be blacklisted. Blackbooked. And what goes onto my blacklist also goes onto those of my 4 kids and 10 grandkids. Bye ASDA. You have lost thousands of pounds worth of custom from me and my relatives.

ASDA's secret email address

It appears that a publicised email address for ASDA.com is very hard to find. If customers can’t find an answer on their website, ASDA seem to prefer people to phone the contact centre, or to visit the customer service desk at the local store.

There are many reasons why someone may prefer to type out a query or complaint, rather than to make verbal contact with ASDA. Sometimes it is just more convenient. We must also remember that some people may face verbal communication problems due to certain disabilities. ASDA do offer a Live Chat messaging service which sometimes can be helpful.

I’m happy to report that in October 2025, I eventually managed to contact asda.com email customer support line by emailing the ceo. Trustpilot advised me that I'm not allowed to publish an email address, but for people struggling to discover this a good start would be ...... ceo who of course works at asda.com

This resulted in me receiving a prompt reply from another email address, leading to resolution of my issue.

I’ve asked asda.com to consider publishing their email address. I do think that in many ways, asda.com does perform well, but there is obviously much scope for improvement. Making email contact easier sounds like a good start to me.

ASDA deliver? Occasionally...

I ordered an ASDA grocery delivery this morning to arrive this evening 7pm to 8pm as I knew I would definitely be home by then. But, whaddya know, another no show (This also happened a couple of months ago).
I called customer service at 8.15pm who said they would be with me at 8.23pm. No show. So I called again at 9.15pm to request a refund, which they say can take up to 5 working days.
After a long working week this is beyond inconvenient.
Lesson learned. I will no longer order ASDA groceries.

What is wrong with their new update to…

What is wrong with their new update to mobile app. Who did you employ SACK THEM. Its atrocious, it freezes then flickers, you cant complete orders. You cant do a review or upload pictures. It constantly logs you out. A company your size should have a decent IT department. You must be losing a fortune because nobody can shop. What a waste of time.

Worst online shopping experience ever

First time using Asda grocery delivery as had flu and couldn't travel. Was an hour late with no apology or explanation. Couldn't track it online. Can't easily complain as only option is to call and stand on hold - gave up after 10mins.

Awful experience. Won't use again

Absolutely unacceptable

Absolutely unacceptable.
We have been lifelong customers and home delivery subscribers for many years as much that we have a monthly delivery subscription with them for a very long time which we cancelled after many episodes of them missing the delivery time, showing delivered when we didn’t received it, completely missing items, rotten produce and not being able to provide a basic customer service.
Most of the time the customer service doesn’t know where the driver is, hasn’t got any info about when and if will be delivered and can’t retrieve any information from the shops managers that are always not available. I was asked to call the store myself if I wanted to find out when my delivery will arrive and customer services would “try” to call me back.
You can see for yourself what an unreliable service is, we had to cancel our plans many times because of them and having even to pay for this sounds ludicrous.
This not being enough we got to discover through their delivery drivers that the reason for the poor service is that they overload them of deliveries for the same time slot whilst making them work constantly to meet the deadlines without breaks and charging customers extra for the pleasure of this service in what it sounds just like exploiting their employees. They also refer as absolutely broken communication between the delivery services and the shops.
Won’t spend a pound more for this shite.

Absolutely appalling service

Absolutely appalling service!
I am ill at the moment and can’t leave the house so decided to place an online order with Asda (which I have done many times before but not recently). As we had no food in, I paid the £8.99 (8.99!!!!) for express delivery so that myself and my son could have our evening meal. I booked a slot for 5-6pm, however, by 8pm the order had still not arrived and the website said they were still preparing my order! I tried to ring customer service but got cut off repeatedly - very frustrating after going through so many options on the phone!
Eventually, the order arrived at 8.10pm. When I checked the items, 8 were missing, totalling £19.43. I put in a refund request but it was rejected within minutes saying I had tried to refund too many items!
I rang customer services and spoke to someone who said that they would refund the delivery fee and the missing items and that I would get email confirmation of both refunds. I have checked my emails and have only had one confirming the refund of the delivery fee. After closer inspection of the website, they say that customer service cannot refund missing items so that’s £19.43 Asda have made from me for absolutely nothing in return!
I have always shopped at Asda but I will NEVER shop with them again. I don’t have enough money to be forever guessing whether or not Asda will just randomly steal some of my money with no option to get it back. Absolutely shameful Asda. Listen to your customers and sort this out!

Dreadful customer service - broken promises

I have been waiting for Asda customer services to deal with my refund issue since 25th Aug. Received an email on 5th Sept to say it’s been processed but it hadn’t. Been phoning a chasing since with 3 further promises it would be done. 15th Oct promised a manager would call me back within 3 hrs. Now 2 days and still waiting. It’s only for £39.50 for goodness sake and yet it’s cost me hour and still no joy. Can someone please deal with this today !!!

Awful online shopping

Awful online shopping. Meat quality is very poor, prices constantly increasing, but not even by a few pence we're talking extra 40-50p plus per item. Always something out of stock or delivered wrong. The fresh meats literally have a days date on them to eat when online it says typical 5 days shelf life, can safely say I've never had this. I am unable to use the app after the last upgrade so have to use the mobile website, which isn't straightforward. I have also recently discovered it doesn't allow me to review products I have purchased. Overall a load of rubbish for the amount of money they are making.
