We had two guys arrive on the morning of the 19th, one of which immediately relieved himself a meter from our outdoor eating area. 😒🫣 But I wouldn't be mentioning it here if things hadn't gone downhill from there.
Long story short, they were dishonest about the time they spent on site, literally texting me that they were working on it as they were driving away.
After explaining what happened to the owner, he wanted very badly to see footage from our (clearly visible) outdoor cameras that documented everything.
I can understand his desire to see it, but after considering legal concerns about privacy, and maybe harming the future of two employees who made a mistake, we declined.
They eventually checked their own GPS data for the vehicle, and it confirmed what we already knew and had told them – that we had been charged for time they were not on site.
For this, they promised to "correct the bill". OK. Not really an apology, but that isn't the Danish way really either. Fair nok. :)
But I still assumed this meant with a small discount of some kind for our trouble, maybe even a total write-off?
But... no. Not only did we not get any discount – they still rounded up on their time. And then, to top it off, tacked on a late fee. 😅
Really cannot recommend a business that is run this way. We don't expect or want free work. Time is money. But our time is also worth something, and they used more than their fair share of it with the way they conducted themselves.
Mistakes happen. None of us are perfect. It's how you follow-up and deal with it afterwards that matters.
And FWIW the work was not great either – but I certainly wasn't calling them back to complain about it. It was clear no matter what they are not structured to take responsibility for mistakes.
And I think that comes from the top, unfortunately. The followup message from them here illustrates that brilliantly.
