Naples airport

Reply from Green Motion Italia
As previous reviews advice do not use.
On collection (late evening in dark pouring rain) staff actually good.
Car was mechanically unfit but only found on drive out of Naples.
On return accused of damaging car completely untrue as only used to get to and from resort where it was in a private secure parking space.
young staff at return fist punching each other as they thought they got one over on us.
Eventually i got last return paperwork which proved car was damaged when we collected.
This company has a culture of overcharging for insurance and not returning deposits. and not repairing cars that have been claimed for in short dishonest.
Advice use anyone else they couldn't be worse.

I rented a car via Booking.com, car rentals, everything included, full insurance, 2nd driver.
They work with green motion in Italy. A femal agent took me from the airport in a nice bew Peugeot to their office about ten ninutes away. There she started to frighten me about not covered insurance, and sold me an additional 330 Euro package to avoid problems. And offered a better car for this. Unfortunately I signed the contract as I was shocked and thought, it s nesecary. After one hour i came back. The next car was an old Polo with a big srcatch on the right side. She said, no problem.it s all documented.
They just steal additional mobey from travelers who arrive and are trustful.
Pay attention.
Hope.at least to get my deposit back in thr end and come out of this story without any more damage.
So annoied

I am writing this to warn other travelers about the fuel billing practices at Green Motion Milan Malpensa.
Despite being quoted a rate of €1.20/L plus tax at the counter, Green Motion overcharged my final invoice significantly. Based on their own net charge of €74.56, they billed me for 62.13 liters of gasoline. However, the vehicle provided—a DR 6.0—has a maximum fuel capacity of only 51 liters.
They have effectively billed me for 11 liters of fuel that the car cannot physically hold. I have provided written proof of the agent's promise of "No Penalties" and the manufacturer's specs for the car, but their customer support has refused to provide an itemized breakdown or acknowledge the error.

To echo the comments so far Green Motion are the worse. Collected the car told the additional insurance was not good enough told to buy their insurance which we refused. Told we could not hire the car until I had signed the agreement but was not allowed to view the car in advance. On return we were told there was damage to the car. We evidenced all the damage from the video take on collection. Still refusing that the damage was there on collection. We were told to pay the damages and then collect from our Insurence we were told this is how is works in Italy! We refused to sign the paperwork to date three days later no email detailing alleged costs, but over 1000 charge on our card and they are still holding a deposit of 1200 which they have not release. We are now following up with Green motion directly although reading the responses here highly unlikely that we will get any type of response! PLEASE SO NOT BOOK WITH GREEN MOTION THIS IS A SCAM TO MAKE MONEY!

I’d give them a zero if I could cheeky ill bred thieves. Firstly they are not in the bergamo airport terminal. They said they where I have proof of this. They would not accept my AIG CAR HIRE WAIVER INSURANCE. some crock and bull story about them not being able to claim on it. Then he DEMANDED €1100 up front or I could pay him €142 for more insurance and a €200 deposit. He wouldn’t accept an Irish post office master card. An aggressive rude charlatan. The car was filthy inside and out when I told him this he said. “””” they’re all dirty”””” an ignoramous

Completely agree with the all negative opinions! I was in Bologna on 28 of march and couldn’t get my booked car because I had no international driving licence! This is the only company who have their own sick policy. It’s clear that if you have a UK driving licence you don’t need an international DL It’s written on GOV website. I lost my money obviously and had to rent another car from a different company what cost me a lot more all together obviously. That company shouldn’t exist and it is necessary to do something about that. Shame on you people who work there, honestly!

If I could give Green Motion, a scam and sham of a company ZERO stars I would. The return is the issue. Staff, María specifically, scratched a mark on door handle and blamed us. When it was made clear via photo evidence that it was preexisting it was on to the next blemish on the vehicle as if they had a map and preplanned how they would charge someone. We had two of the exact same vehicles one was checked and cleared in less than a minute and the other took 20 minutes and incurred €1850 worth of damage for a period (.) size dot at the bottom of the windshield that scammer Maria found while laying on the hood of the car, which had she scratched it, she would’ve blamed us as well. Not to mention the disrespect of making a group of travelers late to the airport. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company and stay away from Maria, even if she tells you she’s just doing her job! We have photo and video evidence disproving her claims and yet Maria still wrongfully charges us!

Extremely unhelpful third-rate service - no surprises there. I was running late in travel to the airport as taking train from Switzerland. I contacted them about this to explain I will be later. They throw the policy in your face - if more than 2.5 hrs late. Let me explain that this would not have affected them financially as the payment would have been made in full and would have been happy to pay extra for troubles. VIP cars tried their best in this situation to provide an alternative booking but the costs has ballooned to 5 times the rate because of the last minute nature of my situation

It’s a scam. They request that your credit card has your full name. No abbreviations. I haven’t seen that anywhere else. None of my cards has my full first name so the either cancel my reservation and keep the money I have already paid or they ask 50€ per day extra.
The funny thing is that I reserved that through Ryan air to be safer.
It’s a steal.

Stop giving generic answers. I have ALREADY sent several emails to your local office and Federica, and all I got were dishonest excuses. You are ignoring a Premium Plus (PMP) contract with a €0 deductible and a valid Police Report. You charged me €597 illegally. I have now escalated this to your International Headquarters and the Italian Antitrust Authority (AGCM). Do not ask me to 'send an email' again; just REFUND the money you stole from my account. Case RFN-14229.
UPDATE 19.03. 2026: Green Motion has replied here with a generic message. I have already sent all the evidence (Official Police Report, PMP contract with €0 deductible, and proof of the illegal €597 charge) to their international team. My bank has officially flagged this as a fraudulent transaction. I am not looking for "apologies", I am looking for a REFUND of my money. I will not remove this review until the funds are back in my account. Case: RFN-14229.
Green Motion Italie at Fiumicino is a disgrace. After my rental car was broken into, they behaved worse than the criminals.
Even with Premium Plus (PMP) full protection (€0 deductible), they illegally charged me €597. They claim the official Police Report (Questura di Roma) is 'invalid' because of a stamped manual correction—a pathetic excuse to steal money.
They lied about my email address being 'wrong' to avoid transparency and added a fake €500 penalty for a 3 AM drop-off that was pre-notified. They are scammers in suits. I have reported them to the Italian Antitrust (AGCM), the European Consumer Centre, and started a Chargeback with my bank. Avoid at all costs!
Thank you for the generic reply. I have already sent all the evidence (Police report, PMP contract, and proof of illegal charges) to your international email address. My bank has already flagged this as a fraudulent transaction. I expect a refund, not just 'apologies'. I will keep this review updated until the €597.00 is returned

A really bad experience. We booked a car at the same time as we booked our flights, so everything should have been in order. When we arrived at Green Motion, they could not find our booking in their system, even though we showed them all the documentation confirming that we had made the reservation. They were unable to help us and simply told us that we would have to rent a new car at a higher price.
When we returned the car, we were told to call them 30 minutes before arriving so a shuttle bus could be ready for us. However, we ended up waiting for 40 minutes, even though we had called well in advance.

Reply from Green Motion Italia
I had a terrible experience. I booked a car for 8 days. On the website of the rental company Green Motion, it says to call once you land to arrange the shuttle pickup to their office. So I did probably around 30 times but no one ever answered or got back to me. Not to mention that it was pouring rain in Rome.
After all the hassle, I had to call a taxi to take me to the office myself. When I arrived, the employee didn’t even know that I had called so many times.
I mentioned the issue and at the same time politely asked if we could speed up the process, as I had an appointment in central Rome at 13:30 and only had about 37 minutes to get there. The employee asked for all the necessary documents (driving licence, credit card, etc.). When I handed over my credit card, which is Amex, the employee said they do not accept Amex.
At that point, I was really disappointed and frustrated. I said that nowhere on the website does it mention that Amex is not accepted. I then said I needed to leave as soon as possible. That’s when he told me they could accept my Amex for the deposit, but I would have to pay an additional fee.
So the reality is that they do accept Amex, but they never specify on their website that it comes with an extra fee. After a long and pointless conversation, I had to leave without the car because I was running late for my appointment.
Do not book with them. They told me “we are new,” which clearly means there are still many issues.

I have a Mastercard Gold that is issued by the main Danish Bank and that I used in the past 15 years all over the world.
This is the only bunch of scammers who refused my credit card because it can work both as credit and debit card. So, they took the money of the prepaid booking without giving me the car I paid for. I had to book another car with another company.
EDIT after the company's answer. My credit card IS registered as a Credit Card, and I have used that for more than 15 years as a credit card, including for booking and paying the rental in advance. However, it was refused at the counter. To me this remains a scam.

Poor customer service, terrible communication and currently trying to charge my credit card £4000GBP without notification or invoice. Haven't responded to my emails. Not worth the hassle or price.

Utter gangsterism from GreenMotion at Venice Airport.
Pre-existing scratch to two windows and feint dents to roof edge charged to my credit card on return, - not listed on condition form, but completely dark and invisible when collecting at midnight.
I am going to sue for punitive damages if not refinded in full within 7 days, and will be in touch with licensing authorities in Italy.
Update 2 March - silence from Green Motion. I have launched a Mastercard fraud case against Green Motion. Next stop - Ryanair.
Update 11th March : deadline day. No refund. This ignoring by Grern Motion UK HQ of my complaint will also be adduced to my lawyers' legal bundle.
Update 12th March : I have read your standard and formulaic replies on hundreds of the negative reviews you have received, and I already gave your UK head office 7 days to investigate the sharp practice visited on me by your manager Eleonora and the new recruit at Ventzia Airport depot. You have still not effectuated the refund, though such refund in full is the ONLY route you have, in order to avoid a lawsuit in the UK courts, where my legal team will pursue your company for fraud, for all costs, interest and punitive damages.
Update 14th March :
Email received :
Thank you for your extended patience whilst I have reviewed your case.

Update 16th March. Refund received in full. A salutory episode, a masterclass in confronting sharp practice at source. Caveat emptor.
Update 24th March.
It now turns out Green Motion made TWO unauthorized and fraudulent charges to my credit card when returning the vehicle, yet have refunded only ONE of these. Is this manoeuvre an attempt to hoodwink me into believing the matter resolved while in fact holding on to my funds? Legal action resumes next Tuesday unless the second amount is also returned to my card by 4pm that day.
Update 6pm 31st March.
Italy Green Motion depot " having difficulties" making the second refund. UK HQ requests bank details to effectuate refund by bank transfer. Easter break intervenes.
Update 31st March :
Dear *********
Thank you for sending these bank details to me.
I truly apologise for the delays in getting this resolved for you.
I have passed these over to our location team who will be processing your refund in the next 3 working days. We kindly ask that you allow 5-7 days for this to be reflected in your account.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this matter.
Kind regards,

Avoid this company at all costs. I rented a car from them in July 2025 (paid in full at time of rental) and apparently they saved my credit card information and charged my card without authorization in February 2026.

Reply from Green Motion Italia
This is a total scam company looking to charge disproportionate fees at every turn. First they tried to send me away with a car without a full tank of petrol.
I then used the second hand snow socks which didn’t last and they have tried to charge me €230 to replace them - €170 for the socks which retail for about €40 and a €50 euro admin charge +VAT.
I will never use them again and I urge anyone thinking to use them to choose someone else.

Reply from Green Motion Italia
⚠️ Do not use this company.. scam
You will only get .Extra charges, not the car you booked, and snow chains that don’t fit.
