Beware of trick sign up process

The sign up process has you enter your payment details , then select boxes. At this point I found one recipe in my criteria Keto/Pescatarian , which was how they marketed themselves to be. I instantly cancelled giving the reason. A week later I can see a payment pending on my bank account even though everything is cancelled. There is no way that green chef would have been inconvenienced in the time that this all took place. I feel like I’m being scammed at this point.

Great Meals - Bring Back DPD!

Love the choice of meals and its meant my husband and I have tried foods we would not have done otherwise. On occasions we have had ingredients missing but have always got a credit added to the account as a substitute. This was always resolved quick and easily via the app. Had a made this review earlier I would have given 5 stars, however, our delivery courier has recently changed from DPD to Evri and the difference in service is like night and day. DPD always delivered on time and the box was never once damaged. Since being with Evri our box has been damaged twice (fortunately this did not effect contents) the delivery time seems to be random and not within the delivery window sent and they just leave the box on the doorstep without any handover. With DPD there was always a note on the box that it could not be left on the doorstep. With Evri is says it can be left! If we are not in when the box was delivered it would be in full sun this time of year and on full view for any ner'do well to come along and pilfer! When we realised that the courier had changed we were very tempted to cancel but have decided to keep for now but only because one of us is always home currently to take in the delivery. We loved our regular DPD drivers. I guess Green Chef changed to Evri as it was cheaper. However the only ones suffering this are us the customers. Bring back the DPD deliveries please!

Not a great help and the cancellation process is dodgy

I didn’t find the ingredients particularly fresh and there is no organic produce (not sure why I thought it was organic). But the real issue is that the recipes take an hour to make which is hardly a shortcut! I tried cancelling online and the cancellation button lead to nothing and so I used the “chat” function. The bot kept saying that the cancellation was done. I didn’t receive a cancellation email and so I went back in to try again and the same response. I tried calling on the Monday and was disconnected twice and thought oh well I have done everything I can to cancel. Of course this didn’t work and the company sent a new box. I rejected the box and still got charged.

All good in the first few months …

All good in the first few months however recently I have had missing ingredients for the recipes ordered and on two occasions whole meals missing but ingredients sent for an unknown meal. Issues have been dealt with when reported but most weeks I do have missing ingredients sadly. 😞 On a positive the meals are very tasty and generous portions and issues are dealt with swiftly.

Avoid

I haven’t gotten my order yet, so I can’t comment on the food. Now, I didn’t place the order, I was just curious and trying to see what meals are available. Then I noticed you have to pay BEFORE you get to see the meals? Which put me off, and decided not to carry on with the order, at some point I had to pay £1 to keep going, which I did thinking I’d get to see the food and then continue with the order, but when I saw there is no way of seeing it beforehand, I stopped the process. To my surprise, the next day I get a confirmation email with the order (which I didn’t complete) where my meals have been picked randomly and my money has been taken for the full order. I managed to swap those for others I might like and I will just wait and see what they’re like. I only tried because I had an offer of 50% off, which it all comes to £20 approximately. But the fact that you can’t even see the meals before you actually pay for it, that they make you pay £1 randomly with no reason and then they took all full price from my account with no consent…. Let’s say I’m not happy about it. Will not be using this company again (not that I even intended to, in the first place).

Be Careful

Unfortunately, to get to view the meals available, I had to register my payment details. On viewing the meals, It wasn’t to my taste. I thought that would be the end of it.I deleted my account and removed the app.
Apparently if you don’t choose the meals, the app does it for you, and here I am 10 days later with a notification that DPD are about to deliver my first order.

Really poor company, short dated products

Really poor company, they sent me out the items and three of the meat products expire in 3 days time! Customer services offer to give a tiny refund… account deactivated and id avoid. I wish i’d read the reviews before signing up.

Update,

I have contacted them and listened to their scripted replies, hence the insulting £14 refund… let’s see if that actually arrives, I will of course update on here if it doesn’t!

Very Deceptive!

They sent a discount code, so i signed in and browsed the menu for the week. But didnt choose the recipes,
they have some autoselected but I unselected some and was browsing and decided to not go ahead.
This was all last week, and today I receive a notification from bank that the payment has been taken out by Greenchef and then a message from Greenchef that the delievery will be made on Tuesday.

This is very deception and fraudulent practice as they never sent a confirmation last week to say this delivery is upcoming, as if they did then I could have cancelled this. Now the window to cancel is finished, so I am getting delievery of items that they selected on my behave and I had to pay for.

This should be against trading standards.

I thought I'd give them a try as it was…

I thought I'd give them a try as it was a member offer on my WPA health insurance, advertising 50% off boxes and free breakfast for life. Turns out that the free breakfast for life has been discontinued in January, yet the Green Chef's own website still hasn't been updated four months later... and the 50% off is only on the 1st and 6th boxes, with only 20% being offered on boxes 2 -5. And none thereafter! Very misleading.

The Salmon was not wild

The Salmon was not wild, it was pan-farmed and frozen. I felt that the Prawns were also farmed, reasonably sourced. There wasn't any information of what the sauce contained. There was a red dye in the sauce that stained everything.

Absolute scammers! Misleading subscription practices.

Very disappointing experience. I entered my card details believing I was simply creating an account and accessing/viewing recipes and was not aware I was signing up to a recurring subscription. The subscription terms and cancellation restrictions were not made sufficiently clear during checkout.

When I realised a subscription had been activated, I contacted customer support within a few days to cancel and request a refund, but this was refused. I was then told the “first box” could not be cancelled without speaking to a representative — something that was never clearly disclosed beforehand.

The whole process feels misleading and unnecessarily difficult to cancel. I would advise others to read everything extremely carefully before entering payment details.

Update following merchant response: I contacted the company following their comment. They were unable to support me in my refund at all. They ignored my concerns and did nothing. Avoid this company - Their meal choices are terrible, their subscription terms are opaque and misleading, and their customer service is even worse. Their comment was nothing but saving face.

Really tasty food

Really tasty food, wide choice of recipes and decent portions. The delivery service is a bit annoying, you get a 12 hour window and then on the day get a two hour slot at the last minute so need to make sure you are home. Otherwise I’d have given 5 stars

They are just AI operated business and…

They are just AI operated business and no personalised care. As a Muslim I am highly offended by them sending me pork. I ordered my first box but it didnt go through as subscription was cancelled due to a facebook account scammed my card. I was awaiting a new one in post. I have no idea how Green chef managed to take a payment and instead of pescatarian meal plan they sent me pork. Upon complain I had to argue my case through for ages on the phone to get my refund. I have no idea how can they send so much pork to my house despite a strictly vegetarian or pescatarian meal plan. No empathy or sorry from their end.

Terrible

You have to sign up to see the recipes, I didn't like any of them so cancelled, or so I thought. I now have a box arriving today that has cost £56 which I don't want! I cancelled well over 5 days before delivery day as stated on their website. I am getting a refund of £38 after pushing customer service, but have still paid £18 for something i don't want!
