Kenyan and Tanzania combined safari
Just returned from an amazing 2 weeks in Kenya and Tanzania Safari having seen more Bird and wildlife nearby than I ever dreamed of. The organization of the trip for me as a solo traveler was great, joining up with 2 couples and the choice of small camps and lodges and a variety of reserves visited meant it was another adventure for the "famous Big five" each time we moved on. Early morning and late afternoon game drives meant I saw more sunrises and sunsets than ever before, and will never forget the dark African night skies, stars, and Milky Way. This is a "slow" safari in the best sense as you have time just to watch and listen in the bush or at a waterhole to see what comes along and I could never tire of watching families of elephants or the other birds and wildlife. The bush is still quite green at this time but the leaves are changing to autumn colors, with warm days and chilly nights, and very few insects. All the drive/guides worked so hard for sightings and it was fascinating to see he use sight sound and sometimes smell to decide where to track. You need to be prepared for and learn to wonder at animals coming very close to the vehicles and it took a while to realize that as long as we stayed still and quiet they mostly just went about their business, and the guides could interpret through behavior any situations where we should move away.
