Goviers of Sidmouth was founded in 1904 and has established an enviable reputation for retailing quality ranges with superb customer service. Over the last 35 years the business has grown to become the UK’s leading specialist retailer of high-quality collectables, commemoratives and gifts. Simon and Janet Willis are delighted to have recently acquired the business and aim to carry on the traditions that have made Goviers such a special and much-loved business. All of us here love beautiful things and are excited to work with the existing Goviers’ suppliers and to find new and interesting companies to bring fresh and unique ranges to our offering. Simon has worked in the ceramics industry for over 30 years, having initially intended to make the motor industry his career, Denby Tableware hooked him and then Royal Doulton, Minton, Caithness and Royal Crown Derby reeled him in. Escaping from the lure of beautiful things has been impossible! Janet was for many years a teacher and retired thinking that was the end of work for her but oh no! This new Goviers collection has been put together by Janet, with interference from Simon, and with another catalogue due in early September the range of items on offer will grow very quickly. We are really excited to have the chance to carry on the work that Alan and his team have done over the past 30 years. We are committed to carrying on the Goviers traditions, albeit from Staffordshire rather than with the background noise of seagulls in Sidmouth! And without the lure of that delicious Devon ice cream! There are a number of changes to ordering as you might expect. We have a new phone number for our offices in Staffordshire which is shown on the site. This new web site has been developed thanks to our colleague Amanda, where you will initially be able to order what is in our catalogues but in time we will expand this and add to the ranges. The phone lines will open Monday to Friday 9 until 5. If possible someone will always answer the phone if it rings but if you get through to the answering service please leave us a message and we will get back to you. This is an exciting journey for us and our team, one we hope you will take with us. We aim to find additional suppliers of beautiful products and new ranges from existing suppliers. Don’t recommend

I wish I had checked Trustpilot before ordering. I placed an order for plush toys on 4 March 2026 and only received a Goviers order acknowledgement. My card was charged, but I never received a receipt or any updates about my order. I also emailed them to ask about the status, but received no response. Very disappointing service. I cannot recommend this site.

Dreadful appalling customer service

My goodness. Our late Aunt ordered a vase whilst she was confused just before she went into hospital. She never went home and never got the parcel. It was left unattended outside her door. Our aunt very sadly passed and although the parcel is unopen Goviers are refusing a refund and return. Can you actually beleive this? Most companies would be more than acceptable to a return. I am actually astounded at their attitude.

Poor customer services,Delayed delivery and faulty item, quibbling, not provided returns label!

I bought 2 Merrythought keyringscosting over a £100 from this company. First the order was delayed and there was poor communication and I had to write emails, then I was informed it is out of stock and it will arrive early next week and midweek arrived without any communication and only on writing to them that they replied when I want to cancel the order. Sadly when I received the order, the bear had lost fur around his nose. The Freddie Fox was on wonky and I lost fur in the back. When I asked provide returns, ie label, they started quibbling that they will have to send the photographs to Merrythought and only then they will decide if they will provide returns postage . My understanding is that I have purchased from govier and not merrythought, and once I’ve sent them proof of the photos then a return label should be provided immediately instead of arguing. I will not recommend this seller at all. The items were a gift which I was unable to give as faulty , overall a very poor experience! Nothing has been resolved and I’m still waiting. How can you run a business like this!

King Charles steiff bear.

Great service from Janet. I ordered the wrong bear by mistake. The problem was sorted quickly and I still had the bear and refund sorted before Christmas First class service.

I ordered a porcelain egg online a week…

My order has been delivered 09/04/25. Lovely item which was well packaged so it survived the damage to the package in the post by Royal Mail. I ordered a porcelain egg on 22/03/25 and was told I would receive an email. I did not receive it so I emailed the company. There was no response. There was no information regarding when I can expect to receive the item. I have emailed them again and have had a response saying when I ordered it it was out of stock.

I recently purchased a royal Scot…

I recently purchased a royal Scot London crystal vase. I was pleasantly surprised on going to the checkout that I was to receive a free gift if 4 Darlington crystal wine glasses.
Very impressed with the process of my order and the speed it was despatched and delivered. The packaging was 100% secure. The items were delivered in perfect condition. I would highly recommend this company and their website. Thank you

Great customer service,great scissors

I placed an online order for a pair of Fiskars Classic Kitchen Scissors…and they are great. I’ve had a pair of Fiskars dressmaking scissors for over 20 years which still cut great so decided to try a kitchen pair. The delivery was prompt & tracked & arrived in perfect condition with an added surprise gift of 2 chocolates from Goviers in the package. I would definitely use this company again. Excellent shopping experience & excellent customer service. Website user friendly too. Everything was positive from start to finish, so nothing negative to report.

Great Shopping Experience

Placed my order online received immediate confirmation, parcel arrived 3 days later well packaged as i had bought fragile item. Also included a lovely Christmas gift and 2 chocolates. Will definitely use again.

Coronation Stock discrepancies

Appalling Experience-Now resolved adequately
I was promised a Commemorative Piece by April twice! Only to have received another email by them at due date claiming it will not be until late May.After the Coronation.Stock had all been allocated and I was put back onto a later stock.
Not a nice experience.
Have been in communication with the two ladies and we are working things out.
