Magical and Heartbreaking all at once
Our experience at Golden Goose was both magical and heartbreaking.
Walking into the flagship store in SoHo, we were greeted by an incredible team that made us feel so special. Champagne, endless creativity, and the excitement of designing our very first pairs of Golden Goose shoes made it one of the highlights of our trip. Elijah, our salesperson, was exceptional! Do ask for. him. He patiently helped my husband and our boys try on countless styles and encouraged us to dream up shoes that reflected our personalities and passions.
Then everything changed.
After choosing four pairs of shoes, we began customizing them to reflect who we are. For our family, our Christian faith isn’t just something we believe—it’s part of our identity. We wanted to include simple crosses and Bible verses on some of our shoes.
We were told no.
No crosses. No Bible verses. Nothing religious.
In that moment, what had felt like such an authentic, personal experience became anything but. We were told this was about self-expression and creating shoes that represent who you are—unless, apparently, that expression involved faith in Jesus.
Had we not already been well into the design process, we likely would have walked away.
We’re grateful for Elijah (who was AMAZING), who treated us with kindness and made the experience memorable despite the policy. But it’s difficult to reconcile a brand that celebrates authenticity while excluding something as central to our family’s identity as our faith.
We love our shoes, but we’re left wondering whether we’ll ever purchase another pair. Authenticity should include everyone—including those whose greatest passion and purpose is found in Jesus.

Nobody wanted to help- I walked around for 20 minutes before I finally had to walk up to someone and ask them to help. It was very disappointing considering all of these shoes are over $500/pair. Then when I did get help, it took a while to get my size

I bought a pair of shoes for $500. After just three months of normal use, the stitching on one of the shoes came apart, which is completely unacceptable for shoes at this price.
I contacted Golden Goose to make a claim, but they refused to take responsibility. They claimed that the shoes were bought from an online store that they say is not an authorized retailer. Their only offer was to pay for a repair of the shoe, which I do not consider
