Incredibly impressive engine, restricted by a very strange moderation team.
I'm thoroughly impressed by this game engine. It's FOSS, utterly cross-platform (AOSP + desktop Linux, Windows 11, and macOS are all supported) and it's decently intuitive. It's also generally available via each OS's native package management solutions, which makes it easier to access than UE5 (outside Debian-based Linux distributions).
However, the reason that I'm rating the Reddit community is due to a very strange series of behaviours by its moderation team. Despite being a user of the engine for a while, I've never participated much in its forums. However, I have followed its X account for a year.
Specifically, recently, the official account on X posted a public tweet, which was in retrospect in response to a very yet-unknown and incoherent response to a random user's. This context was not provided. When the context was ascertained, criticisms were levvied. I focus in this upon the reasonable ones. Their authors were almost unanimously banned. Even unrelated accounts were, and solely realized some time later. This was unexplained.
I expected to locate information about this on the Reddit forum, yet there was none. I learnt later that it had been removed, and in a non-impartial manner.
This is immature.
