Extortionate Rates

Extortionate rates , I was only with them 6 weeks and my bill had quadrupled to €144 from €35 monthly charge.
I repeatedly requested paper bills which I never received.
I had trouble logging into their site on a number of occasions , and when I was successful the statements were laid out like gobbledygook. The most non transparent company I've ever had the unfortunate twelve month relationship with.

Absolute Extortion of their customers

Glo power have been charging me a unit rate of 55c day rate and 29c for night rate. I just got a one month bill for just under 200euro. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and am rarely here as I am out working during the day Monday to Friday and have been really careful of my energy use. This is absolute extortion to the highest level. Looking on their website at their standard electricity rates I don't see that rate advertised. It's absolutely disgusting and robbing customers. I have never had to pay €200
for electricity for 1 month.

The wholesale market has seen a significant increase in wholesale costs which have been passed on to consumers by all suppliers, including Glowpower. We have been advising our customers for at least 6 months to look for better deals, and earlier this year we emailed you to advise you that because of further increases to wholesale rates, we would be moving our customers to our standard plan. No one likes price rises, but given recent events in Europe, and the nature of the energy market in Ireland, we expect higher prices are here to stay for the short to medium term. Whilist it might seem like extortion, this more accurately reflects the true cost of electricity in Ireland at the minute. Bigger players in the market are able to subsidise this, which is exactly why we've been asking our customers to search for better offers, as we want to be open and transparant about what's happening in the market. Imagine what we're paying for electricity and you'll soon see that even our higher price reflects the sustained hike in wholesale rates.

12c/kwh at start,come september…

12c/kwh at start,come september 18/22c,november 32c,december 42c!!!! while all other providers are around 22c.increase b.s
348 euro for 1 month bill this month more that 3x from my second highest bill,these guys are absolute chancers uping the rates as they please as a cash grab before people switch.
crooks and they need to be sanctioned by the regulator.do not touch

We've even waived termination fees so our customers can move. our cost reflects the real cost of power in Ireland right now, and to be honest, expect to see all suppliers lifting rates in the near future. Refund outstanding since Autumn last year has not been paid

I was a customer of GlowPower and always paid my in full, on time.

When the company asked its customers to move to Bord Gáis, I left with my account in an overpayment of over €200. This refund has been due since October and they have stopped replying to e-mails asking about the progress of the refund. This should have taken 20 minutes, and instead has dragged on into another year.

Will be considering further action next week but am absolutely disgusted at their cavalier approach to customers' money.

If I had owed money to them since October, I wonder would my electricity still be on....

Absolute crooks signed up to 12 month…

Absolute crooks signed up to 12 month contract and bill went from12c plus vat /kWh to 45c/ kWh within 6 months before I could change. And no where In the articles you suggested I read does it justify a 375% increase of cost to the consumer. And if it’s legal to do this we need an overhaul of the CRU

The wholesale market has been steadily increasing to unsustainable prices, and your prices go up because ours do. All suppliers have increased their rates this year because of this. Horrendous experience

Horrendous experience, left waiting months for my refund, no callbacks. The estimated billing is a joke, huge upfront payments. Avoid at all costs!!!

Glowpower is a rip-off electric…

Glowpower is a rip-off electric provider in Ireland. They will increase your bill constantly. Very bad service. I highly recommend everyone dont use them.

They were the best price when I switched, and after the first month, they constantly increased the bill.
In Nov 2021, at the end of the contract, then I said goodbye to them then they charged me €120 for this final month in comparison with my bill in Oct 2021at €70.
Note: when I switched to them in Nov 2020, bill was around €35. I understood that price has increased everywhere, but Glowpower was trying to clean my pocket.

Gas costs, low wind, reduced generation and other factors have contributed to this and we're finding all suppliers have done the same, and need to for the sheer fact that wholesale prices are unreasonably high. We have encouraged all of our customers to switch suppliers as a result, so we hope you took heed. The days of 35 euro bills are over we're afraid, as wholesale rates have more than doubled, however we do hope your new supplier is offering you a great deal. Best regards from the glowpower team.

Poor Customer service

Poor Customer service, Poor system, Very cheaply made database, always getting my bills mixed up, When I call them, they ask for a reading and I give it, they then agree the bill is too much and they would send a recalculated bill, This never came and nothing taken from my account to which they have all the correct info. they cannot even seem to use a simple direct Debit. Now sent a debt collector because they couldnt get their excrement together, When I asked about it I was told its a mistake.... A MISTAKE TO SEND A DEBT COLLECTOR????

Reviews are overly harsh

I feel the reviews below are overly harsh. Yes they have jumped in price and like others, I am now moving on because they have gone from cheapest to most expensive but they have A, Been honest about it and B, are far from alone in raising prices. All providers have.

I am leaving but its purely based on price and if they get competitive again, I will consider them again

Customer Focused

Signed up Late 2020, I've seen price increase after price increase throughout 2021. But these have happened in all the providers here. The one thing that made me give them the 5* rating is that they have removed the termination fee so people can move early. This shows their customer centered view unlike the other providers. I for one will be coming back to glow at my next renewal.

Do not use GLOW POWER. signed up with them in Feb 2021, they were the best price on switcher. price hike within 1 month and then various other ones since. Unable to leave 12 month contract. I was of the understanding he energy prices were locked for 12 months after signing up, apparently not with GLOW POWER. Unable to leave so essentially held to ransom, as they can increase prices as they see fit for as long as I am contracted for. JOKE of a company, never read the meter and the ID/online system looks like it has been designed by a 5 year old. Cant wait to leave.......................

we don't love raising prices, but we do it when necessary as do all suppliers. As a small business owner yourself, you'll appreciate that when your costs go up, you have to increase your charges to cover the costs. It's the same with us, hence the price changes.

Leaving Glow Power as long-term customer

After two years as a customer of Glow Power I regretfully have to move to another provider for a number of reasons

1. As meters are only estimated during Covid, Glow power have doubled the estimated readings over the same period last year to increase their short time billing revenues as customers must be leaving in droves.

2. There is no such thing as a 12 month contract with Glow Power As they have change my contracted rate within three months of renewal by increasing from 13.8 cents to 19.8 cents per day unit.

3. Nobody can make a decision on customer service without referring to a manager who does not return your calls. My contact Nino who signed me up originally has long left the company.

4. I have three accounts with Glow Power For the past two years and the estimated units billed this year has been all of the place And the rates have increased by 50% during the 12 month contract renewal period.

5. Also the rates have changed they’ve informed me that my contract cannot be left until the 12 months has expired in Feb 2022. I have contacted the CRU regulator to confirm if this is correct

BIG BIG mistake

I switched my electricity to Glowpower during the Summer (2021) as they were, according to the comparison sites, offering great value for money. Since then they have announced not one but two massive price increased making them one of the most expensive. I am getting out.... though they will probably charge me the €50 penalty. In future I will stick to the bigger providers ...these smaller guys are just too volatile.

Very very bad fraud company

Very very bad
My apartment bill is 100-120 a month but glowpower have been charged more then 250 when i left they tried to trick by putting false readings and billing €820 i canceled Direct Debit it took nearly 2 months to sort out final bill and they were in debit of €13
Its apartment not house i only use electricity for light and shower i use bottle gas for cooking even in winter my bill was never more then 240 when i use heating
DO NOT RECOMMEND DOUDGE COMPANY

As we advise all customers, if they give us their own readings, we will bill based on customer readings, otherwise we rely on estimates, especially during the pandemic when the network was unable to read meters. We can see that the final bill on your account is based on the network readings, so you have been billed correctly. Our notes also indicate that you gave incorrect readings to your new supplier who then passed these to us, which always makes billing a touch more complicated. All in all, whilst you did receive estimates, you have ultimately been charged correctly for your consumption and the overall cost from when you started to when you left, is very reasonable. We hope that you reset your expectations with regard to your own consumption, especially during the winter periods, because your consumption is more than you think it is.
