Disappointing experience with an unresolved Miele repair and unclear pricing
I booked Glotech to repair a specific problem with the TwinDos system on my Miele washing machine.
Unfortunately, my experience so far has been very disappointing.
Firstly, there was an issue with the appointment itself. Glotech emailed to say they wanted to attend on a different day from the appointment I had requested and asked me to confirm whether I was available. Before I had had the opportunity either to confirm the new date or rearrange it, the engineer attended anyway while I was out. Fortunately, someone was able to let him in.
According to the engineer’s subsequent notes, he found the TwinDos valve/pipes blocked, unblocked them and tested the machine twice, recording that it was working correctly. However, when I returned home and actually used the washing machine, the same TwinDos problem was still present. I contacted Glotech immediately and sent them photos.
Glotech has now said that parts are required AND wants to charge me a further £61.95 + VAT (£74.34) for another engineer visit, in addition to the initial £148.74 call-out/labour charge and the cost of the parts.
This is where I have a serious concern about the clarity of Glotech’s pricing.
On Glotech’s own booking page, under “One-off Cost”, it currently states:
“Includes Unlimited time and repeat visits with only parts charged on top. Simple pricing to make it easy.”
Their Terms & Conditions also describe a “one-off fixed charge” covering call-out, diagnostics and labour and state that it applies “regardless of the number of visits”. I relied on this in good faith hand I booked.
However, elsewhere in the booking process, Glotech have said there is an additional charge for subsequent Miele visits. I do not recall seeing this when I originally booked, but in any event I find these messages very difficult to reconcile. “Unlimited time and repeat visits with only parts charged on top” seems quite different from charging £74.34 for every subsequent visit.
There is a further issue which I have asked Glotech to address. The Miele repair option they have shown me advertises a six-month guarantee on the same fault as standard. Their engineer recorded that he had repaired and successfully tested my TwinDos fault, yet I reported immediately afterwards that the same problem remained. I have therefore asked why a return visit for that same fault is not being dealt with under that guarantee. The engineer also reports testing twice but I note he attended for a very short time (approx 30 minutes or less - he arrived around 13:30 and I received a call from Glotech at 13:51 saying he had completed the repair and asking for immediate payment).
I have made it clear throughout that I am willing to pay the agreed initial invoice and for any replacement part properly required. I am not trying to avoid paying for the service. My dispute is specifically about the additional attendance charge and what I consider to be conflicting information concerning repeat visits. In other words, they have not done what they promised to do.
I have raised all of this directly with Glotech and am currently awaiting a satisfactory resolution. I will update this review to reflect how they ultimately deal with the complaint.
So far, multiple emails back and forth have not solved the issue, hence this review to warn others.

When a booking is made online, the quote is generated based on the postcode and appliance details provided. Before completing the booking, our site shows the specific charges applicable to your appliance and you are required to review and accept these before proceeding. In the case of your Miele appliance, the quote included the initial labour/attendance charge as well as a separate charge for any subsequent visit. This information was also included in the booking confirmation sent to you.
The “fixed one-off labour fee” and “unlimited time and repeat visits” wording you have referred to applies to the standard pricing structure for the relevant appliance categories. Premium appliances, including Miele, are subject to a different pricing structure due to the specialist nature of the repairs and this is reflected in the individual quote provided when the booking is made. We appreciate that seeing the general wording on the website then the specific Miele pricing with your quote has caused confusion, and we’re sorry for any misunderstanding this has created.
That said, our office team has recently reached out to you with a revised goodwill offer towards proceeding with the repair, in our best efforts to resolve your concerns and improve your experience with us. We hope this demonstrates that we have listened to the issues you have raised and are keen to find a positive way forward. We would encourage you to review the offer and let our team know if you would like to proceed, so that we can assist you further with getting your appliance repaired.
We’re sorry that the clarification around the pricing has required several conversations and emails. Misdiagnosed and extortionate charge for unnecessary parts
When my Siemens microwave failed I paid Glotech £119 to come and repair it . The engineer told me it needed 3 new parts which would cost £750 which made it a write off . I then contacted Siemens directly and discovered the parts were priced at £350 so I bought them and Glotech installed them.
2 weeks later the microwave failed again so I got Siemens to come and have a look , they said that Glotech had misdiagnosed the problem and the appliance was not repairable.
Despite Glotech being responsible for the misdiagnosis they would not even refund the call out fee .
As with other reviews there is a common them with Glotech , wrong diagnosis and extortionate charge for parts .

We’d just like to clarify a few points from our records; the £750 mentioned by the engineer was an approximate indication of the potential parts cost based on his experience with the appliance, rather than a formal quote. Had you wished to proceed with our parts, our office would have been happy to provide a full quote and explore whether any discount could be offered. Our parts are sourced through genuine manufacturers and suppliers and come with a warranty, which is reflected in our pricing. You chose to purchase the parts directly from Siemens instead, which we were then happy to fit for you, although these parts were not covered by our warranty.
The parts were fitted and, according to our records, the microwave continued to work for around a month before you reported another fault. We appreciate that this understandably led you to question the original diagnosis, but this does make the situation less straightforward than a part simply not resolving the original fault. It is possible that there were further underlying issues with the appliance, particularly given that it subsequently became considered beyond economical repair.
When you raised your concerns with us, we asked whether you could provide the report from the Siemens engineer who had inspected the appliance, as this would have allowed our technical team to properly review their findings against our engineer’s original diagnosis. Unfortunately, we weren’t provided with this report, so we have been unable to establish from the available information that the original diagnosis was incorrect.
We appreciate this is understandably frustrating, particularly given the additional expense you incurred, and we’re sorry that we have not been able to provide the resolution you were hoping for.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Glotech Repairs and would not recommend them to anyone.
First, their high call‑out fee of £99.95 gave me confidence that I’d receive a professional diagnosis — but that didn’t happen. They misdiagnosed the fault completely and told me I needed parts that turned out to be unnecessary. They also failed to turn up twice for the repair appointments they booked, wasting my time and leaving my oven unusable.
Because of their incorrect diagnosis, I had to call out another oven company. Within less than five minutes, the engineer identified the real issue: melted wiring at the connection point. I was shocked to learn that, had I continued using the oven as Glotech advised, it could have resulted in an electrical fire.
In the end, I had to pay two oven companies and an electrician to fix a problem Glotech should have diagnosed correctly the first time. They have only offered to refund the cost of the unnecessary parts, but not the call‑out fee — despite the fact their diagnosis was wrong and their service unreliable.
Overall, Glotech Repairs caused stress, extra expense, and potentially put my home at risk. I strongly advise avoiding them.
