Very nice hotel, lots of facilities but don't eat the food
We stayed at Gloria Palace Amadores from 21 March 2026 for a week. The hotel itself is very nice with huge rooms and plenty of facilities. Unfortunately, the food is very poor and all members of our party of four experiences sickness and diarrhea -- in fact, my daughter was hospitalised for a day and night following a severe bout of food poisoning. Upon discussing it with the hotel, they refused (as you'd expect) to associate the illnesses with their food preparation. We discussed with other customers who suffered illness and they all agreed food prep was not handled well.
The service itself from staff is hit and miss -- around the pool bar we found that staff would prefer to stand and chat rather than serve customers. During evening entertainment (which was...okay) it was a little easier with some very polite and helpful staff. At dinner and lunch it, again, could be tough to get served. After our collective illnesses and despite being all inclusive customers, we ate in restaurants outside of the hotel. I would recommend that, if you do come to this hotel, either eat outside or eat plain food only. Their bread rolls are probably about the limit
Disappointed
I have given this hotel several chances, but unfortunately the same issues I experienced a few years ago remain unresolved.
I travel to Gran Canaria at least four times a year. As I usually stay in five-star hotels but do not use facilities such as pools or spa, I occasionally choose a four-star Hotel instead. This was my fourth stay at Gloria Thalasso in San Agustín and, regrettably, it will likely be my last.
My expectations were simple: a clean hotel, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet these expectations. Upon arrival, we had to walk through an entrance area crowded with people smoking. As we passed through the glass doors, a guest with a bicycle nearly collided with me.
Reception was busy, yet staff appeared inefficient. The receptionist was polite but lacked confidence and did not provide a welcoming check-in experience. After completing our details, she asked if it was our first visit. When we replied that we had stayed several times before, she simply said, “Oh, so you know where everything is,” which felt dismissive. Shortly after, a male staff member interrupted and took over without acknowledging us or excusing himself.
During our stay, I became trapped in a lift, which was a particularly unpleasant experience. When pressing the alarm, the speaker was extremely quiet and only in Spanish, making it impossible to understand. I later raised a complaint and questioned whether the lifts are regularly serviced and compliant with safety standards.
Departure was equally disappointing. Due to long waiting times for the lift to reach our room (floor 3), and following the previous incident, we chose to carry our suitcases down the stairs, which was not ideal. At reception, we returned the towels and received our deposit back, but there was no courtesy, farewell, or even a simple “thank you.”
With each visit, I feel the hotel experience has declined. Staff attentiveness, particularly in the breakfast restaurant, is lacking. On one occasion, after placing food on the table and briefly returning to collect sugar, I found my food and freshly made coffee had already been cleared away. A small amount of attentiveness would greatly improve the guest experience.
That said, the hotel rooms are comfortable, clean, and the staff are generally polite. The location is convenient, being close to the seafront. However, parking is problematic for guests with hire cars, and reception lacks professionalism.
Overall, the hotel delivers what might be expected of a basic four-star property, but it could be significantly improved. Addressing the reception service, smoking at the entrance, parking issues, lift safety, and attentiveness in the breakfast area would make a noticeable difference
Very bad staff at restaurant
Me my wife and my son were actually staying at hotel Riu in Puerto Rico, but on our last day on Gran Canaria we decided to try the dinner at our neighbour hotel Thalasso at Amadores. I went to the reception and asked how to reserve a table, she told me there is no need for that just be on time. Then we arrived and sat on a table on balcony. We took food for us and for the baby then they asked our room number, then we said we don’t live here and I thought this was like an ordinary restaurant like at Hotel Riu, the staff suddenly became very rude and disrepectful, I went to the manager and told him about the situation and that I wanted to pay for dinner of course we didn’t want to steal food, what do you think of us! I paid for 77 euros for dinner, but the staff was still looking at us like we were criminals and followed us wherever we went. I was embarassed in front of my family and that last dinner on Gran Canaria was horrible. I strongly don’t recommend this hotel.
Hotel & staff are nice enough
Hotel & staff are nice enough.
All Pools are very salty, bring googles as it really does sting if you’re not use to it.
All pools are fairly deep, especially for younger children, bring swimming aids if children aren’t confident swimmers.
I’m 5ft and could only reach the floor by steps or walk in slope.
Food is average, some days better than others.
All inclusive drinks not all of them are all inclusive- ice cream & snacks average.
Locations nothing seemed to be open, there wasn’t much hustle and bustle in local town. We were here for week (end June)
Beaches were nice, sea was less salty than the pools.
Entertainment was good of an evening, outside entertainers, went on till 11pm- if you have young children is very loud when in apartments.
Kids entertainment seemed to be better for older children- only 2 people for pool entertainment.
Wouldn’t return till kids were older based on pools and location.
What Gluten free but Hotel and Staff are brilliant
Hotel and Staff are brilliant. Drinks measures are much smaller than last year. And the Gluten free knowledge they advertise is none existent. Last year they told me to give them lists of what I wanted every day! No good. This year STILL no signage and it took 3 men from the kitchen to tell me 2 items that were gluten free! Deadly if your Coeilac. Why they cannot put signs on I don't understand?? Bit off putting when you pay but cannot eat.
I'm still here for 4 days. Good for loosing weight I guess. December 24
Foot note They do have the Allergens list by one of the doors- you need a magnifying glass to read it and a lot of time!! Not a good way to eat at all.
Recently stayed at Gloria Palace Amadores
Recently stayed at Gloria Palace, Amadores. Hotel was great and we had a fab time!
Arrival:
On arrival you are greeted with Prosecco or orange juice and there is always (very nice) caramels on reception to munch through!
Rooms:
We were upgraded to a suite due to availability which was very nice! One room with a sofa and wardrobe, second room had second sofa, wardrobe etc, the bed was two double (maybe king sized) together so huge! Double balcony!
There was a bath with a shower over it as well as a separate shower. We had concerns after reading some reviews that the toilet didn’t have a door- technically it does, it’s a glass door with frosted stripes but it doesn’t fully shut- big gap at top and bottom and you can obviously make out the outline of the person in there which isn’t entirely romantic 😂 (that would be one of the two areas we would suggest improvement on!)
Restaurant:
Ahead of going I read some reviews which said there wasn’t much variety of food- having now stayed there I want to know what more these people want!! I have never seen so much food! Each night also has a different themed food section so you could try something different if you wanted.
We ate lunch in snack bar which is nice and then on other days we ate in the restaurant which is also nice!
All Inclusive:
Drinks available from 10am onwards, there are beers/soft drinks on tap but our experience was that they tasted horrible! You can ask for a bottle of beer or Fanta and that’s fine though and no arguments when asking for a bottle!
Pool
There are 3 pools, one on the top floor, and second/third on a different level. Second/third was a kids pool and another infinity. We didn’t use these. We chose to use the adults only pool on the roof top which was lovely, availability of sun loungers was fine although people do go out early to put towels down- only an issue if there was a specific location you wanted. Our only other gripe of the hotel was that we were promised a heated pool from start of November- it was not heated (and very cold!) they started heating it on our last day.
You can get towels from reception so in reality no need to take your own, you can hand them back in and they give you fresh ones.
Spa:
Spa access was included in our room and was very nice, much better than English spas although the pool could have been a tad warmer!
Location:
We took a 10 minute walk to the beach which was ok, man-made. You can hire a lounger or parasol. We took a taxi back which was about 7 euro. You can get a lift to the promenade, but they said it was broken. We took it down to promenade but I think there was a second lift to go further!
We also went to Puerto Rico via taxi (8 euro) to the mall which was nice to have a look around, (wonderful gelato shop in the mall!)
Apart from that we didn’t find much else to do but as we were only there for 5 days we didn’t look at the excursions so maybe more is available!
AOB
We had some photos taken by the hotel photographer at sunset, free to have done and then you purchase any you like (11 euro)
Jet2 website said the hotel was a 1 hour transfer from the airport but I would say more like 1.5 with all the drop offs (obvs not the hotels fault- just an FYI)
Can’t comment on entertainment as we did not partake!
Hotel had free WiFi
We had 2 x rainy days but still managed to get sunburn whilst wearing factor 50 in the 2 days there was sun!! (And this was mid November!)
I think that’s it! Wouldn’t necessarily go back to Gran Canaria again as couldn’t find much to do but would definitely stay here again if we did!

I was there 5 years ago and we picked the hotel for my 70s because it was exceptional, such a shock to see the difference, on arrival our room was given away, we received someone else bill. The rooms, and so much around the hotel required serious cleaning and painted. The food was standard with very little difference from day to day, I had to ask that someone clean outside the balcony, they did but left a cherry 🍒 picker instead spoiling the ocean view. Diffently not four star.
Definitely don't recommend this hotel
Definitely don't recommend this hotel
We arrived for a 5 day break for our anniversary. When we got to the hotel we were given a room below the pool area dispite booking a Seaview room. When we notified the staff at reception they agreed to changed our room the following day. So we had to pack up and "check out" but weren't able to check back into our new room until 2pm. The first room wasn't great at all. There was someones body hair in the bath. The toilet door was dirty with hand marks and what looked like cream. There was a razor what was used but also left in the bathroom. For Gloria Palace I expected better. The second room was better. Initially when we went to the room there was 2 single beds and a cot bed. As mentioned above we were on our anniversary and left our children at home. When we notified staff they did get a mattress topper for the bed and removed the cot bed eventually...
3 days into our stay, cash was stolen from our room. Furious, we notified the staff. Staff weren't of any help at all. I know we didn't use the safe but I still expect my room to be safe regardless of using the safe. I am extremely disappointed in the staff of the Gloria Palace.
Lastly, on the morning of checkout I assume housekeeping stay out of the room until you've checked out at 12... Not here, at 9.30 while still in bed the housekeeper entered our room. When she heard me say wait a minute she left. I followed her and her response was are you checking out today. I found this extremely odd behavior considering 2 days previous the money was taken from our room. When I notified the reception about the odd behavior they didn't seem concerned or bothered at all.
Very poor customer service
For the money you'll spend go elsewhere
We've just come back from a 10 night…
We've just come back from a 10 night stay at this beautiful hotel. This is one of the best holidays we've had so far. The room was so spacious and clean with such a great view. The pool area was spotless and cleaned down every night and morning.
The food was lovely. The restaurant was extremely clean.
The children's area was great!
The entertainment staff were fantastic, the house maids, waitress & waitresses were all extremely friendly.
I've read a few negative comments on here and I genuinely feel like the comments were for a different hotel.
I'm very particular when I go on holiday and was pleasantly surprised.
We can't wait to go back.
worst hotel stay and dismissive management
We have recently stayed at Gloria Palace Gran Canaria for 12 nights 15th aug to 27th aug. And we had a very very poor stay to the quality/suitability of the accommodation. We are a family with 3 adults and one child. When we arrived at the hotel having booked a double room with sea view the room we were allocated was not a sea view and had to be relocated.
The new room had only 2 single beds and a pull out sofa bed. I can only say we had 12 nights of the worst sleep ever and spoilt our holiday for all of us. Everyday we had to request sheets/towels/water from housekeeping as they would only leave 2 sheets or sometimes no sheets believing that there was only 2 people staying there due to room size.
Most of the staff at reception were very disappointing, and did not want to deal with our issues. We had to resort to bringing in the lounger from the balcony to try get some sort of sleep. We paid a lot of money but left extremely disappointed by our stay.
It was totally ruined by the hotel and the fact our issues/concerns were dismissed.
Also the condition of some of the furniture and walls in our room was dirty/unclean/stained, and also cocktail sticks still on the floor when we got there (which was there for the full stay). It was like room had not been cleaned for us. Based on our experience I would not recommend the hotel and to say we are devastated at the stay having looked forward to our dream holiday for the past year. The response we have received like our stay was disappointing, dismissive and disrespectful.
We got offered an upgrade if we were to return, so spend another 3ooo on accommodation plus flights expenses to be upgraded from half to full board with a bit more comfort. Its been a joke from the hotel.
We Got Oure reservation cancelled…
We Got Oure reservation cancelled today, and Found out Oure reservation Room is gone up up by 600 Rs, this is how they want to do business, we Will ofcourse find anothet hotel, for Oure business in future.
The Hotel Gloria catered to our needs…
The Hotel Gloria catered to our needs immensely, the reception staff was excellent and considerate.
The room service was impeccable and prompt, the restaurant staff was very kind and helpful( especially Juan Almeda Almeda).
Juan went out of his way to make our stay very pleasurable. He should get a commendation, me and my wife will return to this hotel purely because of the customer service.
Absolutely fantastic holiday.
Gloria Palace, San Augustin via jet2
Stayed at San Augustin via jet2.
We were in a family suite. One room with super king, one with two singles and a sofa. Obviously the couple/parents would be in the super king right - but the only mirror was in the other room and the bathroom so not ideal for my wife when she was getting ready to go out. Best cupboards were int he other room too. Nowhere to store the cases so they were just out for the 2 weeks.
Room was not cleaned properly, floor dirty, nets at the windows grubby and was not mopped in the 2 weeks we were there. Sheets changed only upon request on day 5 as they hadn't been, and they are supposed to be every 3 days. Coffee not replaced in the room at all so asked several times for milk, coffee and sugar. A/C in the room was rubbish - 24 degrees every day. No apparent A/C in the hotel or restaurant.
Pool was heaving, cloudy, warm and some guests with young children felt it was OK to take their baby's nappy off, then get in the pool with them being naked...couples getting a bit carried away on the double sunbeds and in the pool too...needless to say we didn't use the pool after seeing that. Didn't know where to look sometimes.
Entertainment team had 3 paid staff and the rest were interns so really poor. Badly organised and publicised activities. Aquagym, Club dances etc were a joke but actually funny as they were so bad.
Stage for evening entertainment had a space for kids in front of it and was treated as a gangway for waiters and guests to get to and from the bar so forget about watching any shows. Professional outsourced shows started 9.30 but kids still running around despite this.
Food was OK. A lot of it was warm rather than hot which was a shame but just meant we watched for when fresh stuff came out of the kitchen and then went for it. Good fresh pizza. Good cakes and deserts. Proper bacon. Good bread. I don't eat meat and a few of the dishes were badged as plain rice for example, but there was chicken it. Drinks good apart from squash and OJ in the mornings as the machines all ran out quite early. Restaurant and bar staff were very good.
Good location though as close to San Augustin shopping centre which has got a lot quieter since or previous pre-pandemic visits.
On arrival given inferior room
On arrival given possibly the worst room in the hotel 2101B floor -1 . When I went into room, measured noise level at 78db. Asked to be changed and told to come back at 2 pm the next day. On return to room found that the sea, or swimming pool could not be seen from the balcony. Returned again to reception, and was told there was a sea view. Asked to talk to the duty manager, I was told that he was the manager. I told him that if he didn’t find a room of the quality I paid for, I would take an action against the Hotel Company.
A room was then found. My partner and I are pensioners, maybe this was why reception thought we could be fobbed off. I have a heart condition and felt shuck for the night. I leave the hotel tomorrow, and of yet have not received an apology.
Definitely not worth 5 stars.
all inclusive is not what it seems, you have to pay at the bar downstairs and in the evening at the pool bar just the same so offering ALL inclusive is not justified! furthermore, the beds are only made up and not cleaned. animation can no longer be compared with 6 years ago when there were still interns working. In short, for the money they ask for it, this is certainly not worth 5 stars
Second visit to this hotel last time…

BEST HOTEL IN PUERTO RICO GRAN CANARIA…
BEST HOTEL IN PUERTO RICO GRAN CANARIA - we have returned recently from a weeks holiday with family and this hotel is simply the best. Fantastic staff, excellent restaurant and facilities. The front of house staff were and are very professional and helpful. The activity programme for our grandson who is only 16 months old was first class. The children's entertainment and staff were amazing. A very safe hotel and equally safe pool area for the children with outdoor play facilities to use also. Nothing was too much for any staff and the cleanliness was just so so good. The manager of the Hotel was very helpful and spoke perfect English -she was very helpful to us all. The staff work very hard to provide a professional service and we were very grateful. We loved our time so much we are going back in June! - Highly recommended and just the perfect hotel to stay in. We booked through "Jet2" who were amazing. There was nothing to fault the service of Jet2 or the Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso Hotel - the facilities in the Hotel on all levels are wonderful . We cannot wait to get back! :)
Racist and Discrimination from Angelo on reception
Just arrived and was greeted rudely by Angelo and wouldn’t help with my booking as booking.com didn’t pay?! My friend booked it as I’m dyslexic and can’t do stuff online. But I couldn’t get through to her on the phone and was in a bad situation as Angelo say not his problem GET OUT!
I DONT CARE. IF YOU DONT GET OUT ILL CALL THE POLICE!!! I’m dyslexic (disabled) and can’t stop crying in my room. I’ve spoken to the uk new paper and they are calling me tomorrow for the story.
Angelo wouldn’t listen to me telling my to shut up and get out and called the police. I’ve got this on video and like to meet you to show you as this is going viral online and to the paper’s.
I had to get another friend in the uk to transfer me another £440.45 or I’d be homeless!
So I paid again! When I finally got up to my room and layed on my bed, it smelt strange and noticed some seman stains, very disappointed and will not be coming here again. I will getting my money back and going to another hotel as I will not tolerate this behaviour.
Can you call me urgently? as I very upset and offended! I’ve got video footage on my phone if you want to see it?!
Just returned from The Gloria Palace…
Just returned from The Gloria Palace Amadores my sixth stay . As always my wife and I had a great time .
Swimming pool area wonderful with its infinity view ,plenty of sun beds whole area very clean and tidy .Excellent Pool Bar wonderful staff who where always efficient and very friendly. My only gripe was being All Inclusive Plus was served Inferior Cocktails from a machine so on some occasions paid for superior freshly made cocktails, all other drinks Smirnoff Vodka Beer were all fine . The Pool Bar closed sharply at 6pm which for us and others is to early as it’s such a wonderful place to sit and watch the sun go down .
The room was very clean and comfortable and freshly decorated would be great for Inclusive plus customers to have a bit more stock in the fridge just 2 bottles of water .
The Restaurant was very inviting with a massive food choice of good quality food ,drinks including Bottled Wine and Beer were served promptly by the superb hardworking friendly staff .
Reception Staff are again very efficient with all tasks dealt with in a very professional manner.
Although our holiday took place during Covid Pandemic everything possibly was provided by the hotel with the only notable rule being the wearing of face coverings while moving around The Hotel which just makes all feel safe . My Wife and I look forward to the day we return .
