Quite dissatisfied....

On a night flight of about 12 hours they served a sandwich as soon as we boarded and only a meal, two hours before we reached our destination. My friend who was traveling with me got food poisoning. In Shanghai the employee who served me at check in told me that there was no window seat while many people after me found a window. I will definitely not choose them again!

First time using this airline

First time using this airline to fly to Japan. The flight was on time and no issues during the flight. But the service is poor, not enough information on their website and the app is not clear.
We were not aware that we needed to proof that we live in the UK if you don't have a British passport. We have settled status, and been living in the UK for over 10 years. We didn't have to show anything when we entered Japan, but on the way back to the UK, they were asking loads of questions and to show them documents and proof that we live in the UK. They should mention this on their website, or add an online check in so you could provide all the relevant details. There's also not enough information on adding extra bags if needed, they didn't even know at the airport when we asked as I believe they don't have ground staff on the check in desks. At least here in Manchester airport.

The food was also very poor, not great quality and they weren't offering enough snacks for such a long flight. I understand that the price is cheaper so this will be reflect on the service too. Still a few things to improve.

Juneyao Air Services is inconsistent

The airline offering poor service for baggage handling. I had twice bad experiences with broken baggage during my flight from Manchester to Shenyang via Pudong, found both baggage broken and lost some items. It is very difficult making claims with customer service. It seems the only one staff is dealing with damage claims offering very low compensation not even to cover the cost of baggage. Customer services communication system is inconsistent and difficult to deal with, most emails bounced back, if you are frustrated need to call their service desk , the only phone line is located in China which will cost fortune. I made a damage claim since December 2025 still not settled up to now. Passenger needs to pay special protection on your baggage during flight with Juneyao airline. Hope their service should be improved in near future.

The flight was ok but...

The flight was ok, there is no online check-in. While checking in at the counter in Japan I was asked to provide an ETA to fly back to the UK where I live.

I don't need an ETA to enter the UK because I have settled status but the airline was completely ignorant on this matter and had no way to check my status, yet they insisted on acting like UK border enforcement, making me spend extra money on something I didn't need and causing me unnecessary stress and delay.
