Getbybus is a scam

Getbybus is a scam. They will sell you tickets that will not be accepted and you will be turned away at the station. Many people were turned away at the terminal and were stuck there for hours looking for alternative transport. If you manage to contact them, they will blame another company. If you tell them that TripAdvisor is loaded with hundreds of examples of these illegal business practices, they will argue with you. This company should be shut down immediately. I’m not even sure how they are legally allowed to operate. In many parts of the world they would be facing class action lawsuits. Avoid at all costs.

As per our answer to the comment above, the reason why your tickets were not accepted was because the operator did not update the list of passengers on time and sold tickets to other people, thus the bus being full. It is possible that there was just a glitch in the system.

This is unfortunate, but also something that we are simply not able to control. It can happen during high season, for the inventory to not be updated on time, due to the fact that we are not the only platform that sells these tickets, but there are others as well.

However, we are guaranteed that our clients get a seat on the bus. This is why you were granted a full refund for your purchase. Our goal is not to blame the operator, but to find a solution that is best for you.

We appreciate these reviews as they help us to improve our service. This includes finding better solutions to arising problems.

They only showed limited timetables and…

They only showed limited timetables and so I booked a bus from Budva to Porgorica, when I got to the bus station I realised there were far more options (and better suited to my flight times) but I couldn’t use the ticket I had already purchased on these. Waste of money. Just get the ticket from the station.

All online sales are closed usually 24-48 hours prior to departure time. The reason for this is the fact that the buying of tickets is a dynamic process, and operators close online sales this way. There are many logistic reasons for this.

You can always buy directly from the bus station, but then you have to go there, which can usually be not very efficient for a lot of people.

Awful experience GetByBus Croatia

The “direct” bus from Dubrovnik to Split booked with GetByBus made 34 stops, took more than 6 hours (arriving 2.5 hours later than scheduled), charged me extra to take a bag, and I ended up having to stand as there wasn’t enough seats. No explanation was provided, and when I contacted the company they didn’t take any responsibility.

Recommend finding alternatives

Worst experience ever

Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. The company informs you that the bus from Dubrovnik to kotor takes 2 hours and 30 minutes and the same from kotor to Dubrovnik. We got on our bus at 8:15am from Dubrovnik and didn’t get in to kotor till 1:30pm??? 5.25 hours in total. They fail to tell you that border control is a lengthy process, a ferry to tivat and also that you stop at different places to drop/ pick other people up, which clearly does not take 2.5 hours to do.

A few days later we got the same bus back to Dubrovnik thinking the first trip was just a one off and wouldn’t be as bad. We were so wrong. The travel back was also 5 hours so they clearly know that it does not take 2.5 hours. The staff for the bus company were they most ignorant/rude individuals that I have ever spoken to, they were so unhelpful and made us feel insignificant. I’d honestly find a different transport if you are wanting to go to kotor. Avoid this company unless you want a stroke.

Unfortunately, we are not liable for failure or delay of performance, as stated in the General terms, due to traffic or other circumstances not caused by negligence of the carrier, such as high season and crossing of border, where delays might occur.

In the process of buying the ticket there is an apparent note on our website as a kind warning to passengers to know these things. Considering the Tivat stop, before you purchase the ticket, you can select to See route stations, where Tivat is also stated, meaning the information is readily available.

Neum to Kotor : HELL RIDE

I am utterly disappointed by the horrendous experience I had with GetbyBus.com. The journey I booked fell far short of expectations, with overbooked seats, broken chairs, an aggressive and rude driver, and offensive behavior during passport control. The bus arrived hours late, leaving passengers frustrated, and two individuals had to sit on the stairs due to lack of proper seating. I possess evidence of these issues, and I demand an immediate refund of 34 Euros and a written apology for this distressing ordeal. I had anticipated a comfortable and safe ride, but this journey was an absolute nightmare. Immediate action is expected to address these grievances and prevent similar incidents in the future.

DONT EXPECT A REFUND EVEN IF YOU DON’T GET A SERVICE!!!!!

They won’t give you money back even if you don’t use the service because the bus didn’t come at all!!! We had to pay for a taxi. The worst company ever!!!

Bus never showed up!

Bus never showed up!! Left us in the middle of nowhere, with no shelter in 35 degrees heat, waiting for a bus that never arrived. Missed our transfer. The whole thing was a disaster.

10 am bus from Shkodër to Podgorica was…

10 am bus from Shkodër to Podgorica was 52 minutes late.
Bus driver: smoked, answer phone calls, made phone call, texted and played with the radio to find his favorite, loud, music. All of this while driving a very curvy high-way.
It made me anxious.

Do not buy ticket online from split bus…

Do not buy ticket online from split bus station to airport ,it doesn’t guarantee you a seat as priorities goes to people with paper ticket bought at the station .
Only if there are place in the bus then you will be allowed to board

Simple, easy and convenient.

We booked from Kotor to Podgorica in Montenegro. Booked in advance, glad we did as there would have been no seats left if we had just turned up on the day. I guess you could go to the bus station a few days early to buy tickets and not pay a small booking fee if you wanted to. We found the website easy to use and convenient. Some people have written unfair reviews about this company. They are simply a good service allowing you to get tickets conveniently- they have nothing to do with state of bus, delays, driver issues etc. we would use them again, thank you.

OVERPRICED !!Took it for 30euros Naples to Sorrento…

Took it for 30euros Naples to Sorrento and had to walk from the bus station to hotel. Then booked return with Curreri Viaggi was 10 Euro and they picked me up at the hotel!!

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. A glitch between the website and the service provider's website meant that the wrong date on a ticket was booked and they refused to take accountability for it or assist with changing the date of travel meaning we had to buy a whole additional ticket. Also issues using on the mobile site where it makes you select both journeys and opens up a pop up but that is only for a single ticket. The prices also don't line up and you spend more than it quotes.
Just book directly with a coach provider - this website will waste your money and time.

Update following their response - we contacted their customer service within hours of the issue arising and were met with a point blank refusal to provide a refund.

We waited on the bus stop for over an…

We waited on the bus stop for over an hour and because of the incorrect information about the time schedule provided by Getbybus we had to run to our train as well. We were supposed to have an hour between the arrival of the bus and the departure of the train.
Nevertheless, the bus drivers from the Promet Makarska were helpful and did their best to get us to the train station on time.
Therefore, we don’t recommend managing your time according to the Getbybus page or using their services.

Avoid the online booking

I've booked a ticket online for bus from Split to Split Airport which was overbooked. Passengers with the paper tickets from the station were given priority and all the online booked ticket had to stand in the aisle. Luckily we've made to the airport safely but I've never seen anything like this before.

The driver told us that the online bookings are basically less valid, using the word "sh**" - very unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.

I'm glad that I've made to the airport on time but I will never use this transport again.
