Overstay charges
Just pulled up at Premier In. Stepps with no charge left in car at 23:00. If I plug in it will charge full by 3am then charge me an overstay. I called their helpline to see if any overnight rate until 7am but not.
Left it unplugged and will have to find somewhere else in morning. Won’t ever stay at a Premier Inn again with these chargers. Absolutely useless.
Fails every time, and charges me for the privilege
I have a 100% failure rate with these chargers. Each time I try to use them they take the pre-auth charge and then it takes 7+ days to be refunded. I contacted the company who were not interested. They just say the diagnostics don't report any issues and there have been recent successful charges. They don't even ask what connector I was using. I refuse to use them now. There's no point. I know they won't work, the company will refuse to help, and I then may not be able to charge elsewhere if I'm at the contactless limit on my card. They're especially annoying as they are in convenient locations, likely preventing other operators from installing working chargers there.
Quite possibly the worst charging…
Quite possibly the worst charging company in the UK. We tried to charge at Babraham Park and Ride, downloaded the app and discovered that all sorts of charges were going to be applied on top of the charging... I had to get a bus back to the park and ride early to unplug or risk incurring the most ridiculous extra charges. Terrible business model, incomprehensible terms and conditions.
Ridiculous system for charging at…
Ridiculous system for charging at Babraham Park and Ride in Cambridge. Sounded like the ideal way to charge thr car whilst enjoying a day out in Cambridge. However as well as an expensive .50ppkwh charge you get a flat overstay charge of £10 after 90mins which gets repeated after another 90mins so a day out would become very expensive. A ultra fast charge a few miles down the road would be cheaper and more convenient. App is terrible with limited information on the charging requirements for each location. Don't get caught into this con.
Complete rip off
Complete rip off. They told me I had to pay £10 for a charging card which I did . Card doesn't work and can't get through to speak to anyone. Imagine paying 90 pence per kWh for slow charge. If people stop using them hopefully they'll go out of business and so they should. Don't try to rip people off
Avoid Geniepoint
Had to use a Geniepoint which I normally avoid. Surprise it just did not work. Why do they bother?
Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking. Why you can't just pay and go is beyond me. Avoid at all costs
Would give it no stars if I could
Would give it no stars if I could
Went to try and charge my car took £35 out of my bank most others put it straight back if not used but not this company takes 7 days for it to register i didn't use it and give me my money back I need that money you robbing company
Very expensive & punishing overstay charges
Ridiculously overpriced chargers at a Premier Inn - who needs fast, expensive charging when they are sleeping overnight?! And an overstay charge punishing one when the car hasn't even reached full charge. Appalling. Avoid wherever possible.
I've had an electric car for two years
I've had an electric car for two years, I've found geniepoint to be among the least reliable and most over priced, I definitely check for other options.
Just awful and pointless chargers
Just used the chargers at Cribbs shopping center in bristol. DONT USE THEM. The card payments dont work all bays were empty but only one was listed in there awful app. The best charge rate we got was 3.5kwh which pointless. We gave up and used the tesla stations 50yards away. This is everything that makes the UK charging system so useless compared to Europe
Avoid points at Premier Inns
I charged at the Premier Inn and have received a parking ticket as I didn’t also pay for parking. (Another £10) I contacted Genie who told me this was not under their control. The map detailing the charging points does not make it clear that you also have to pay for parking while in a genie charging spot nor is there any such information on the charger. My penalty notice clearly shows I was only parking whilst I charged my car.
Dodgy Chademo charger at Premier Inn, Chipping Norton - AVOID
We used the Genie Point charger at the Premier Inn, Chipping Norton - our advice is AVOID! The Chademo charger didn't disconnect at the end of a full charge. The Green light on the Chademo didn't go off and it would not release from our car. It took 5 hours and many many phone calls to get Genie Point to finally accept that they needed to switch the electricity to the whole unit off.
My first experience with these …kers …
My first experience with public charging… so i downloaded a fistful of Charging apps. I had planned to stop in Bath for driving break, dinner and charge.
Turns out to be GeniePoint. OK, no app. No QR. OK website. Tortuous sign up with multiple repetitions of input. 2010 style website. Finally after swearbox nearing overflow, charging. Return after an hour (didn’t need fast charging) on 7kw left town. Got home, checked credit card and found that I had been charged £1, then £25, then £1, then £8.70, then another £25. This makes £60.70. I hope I get the £52 back. If not, I am nowhere near wealthy enough for this game.
I really hope I’m wrong about genie point, but they look like sharp practice cheap shots, no updates and no maintenance.
Having seen internet reviews it reinforces my view. Avoid.
Was trying to charge as a guest,
Was trying to charge as a guest,
Followed the steps as per instructions on notice board next to charger, Downloaded the app that was indicated on the charger that didn’t work,
Downloaded another app that was indicated at the bottom of the notice board next to charger below the top app that didn’t work
had to put down 30£, accidentally pushed don’t allow GPS, menu kicked me out
rung customer service, had to put down 30£ again, he walked me through the steps the system still wouldn’t let me charge (guy said this is weird)
had to then register for 25£ and go through the process for 4rd time, I was down 85£ at this point just so I could charge for 6£
the whole experience was so bad I would easily call it a SCAM !!! very expensive lesson to learn, please learn from my mistake and avoid at all cost.

nothing works and no one cares
theres a geniepoint charger right next to my kids school here in Huddersfield. Its been many months now and its has never worked. Same is the situation with many other geniepoints around the area. Absolutely terrible
Terrible charging points in Cromer
Terrible charging points in Cromer, app would not work and payments rejected. Avoid
Finally managed to get the app working…
Finally managed to get the app working after several tries only to discover that the app does not tell me the charging status. Also wad stung by going over 90 minutes when the unit clearly says 240 minutes on the unit I was using. I assume its better if you use raid but I wouldn't put money it. Its a rip off but it seems to be the best we can come up with. Perhaps it'll improve
I wish I could award -1!
Actually it’s less than 1. They owe me an hour of my life I will never get back! Profoundly buggy app kept rejecting every new password. Then I discovered the two Genie units I had sat beside for an hour were out of order. No signage to let anyone know! Zero customer care seems to be their ethos.
Chargers offline and no response from their 'support' line
10 chargers at charge location available but within 2hrs of charging (only a 7kw destination charger), all of them went offline!
Has now been offline for 2 weeks, I emailed their 'support' line and have got no reply, poor to not even acknowledge your email. I notice on their EV charging map, that 6 out of 12 of their chargers in my area are down, the wait to go back online and charge continues...
