The idea was not wrong in version 1. Now it's just a reduced set of features for way too much money. Support ist not existant and login a question of good luck. iOs is absolutely not usable, Safari as well. Maybe they should start vibe coding…

The app itself is great, but Gather turned it off twice because of an error in their billing department (tl;dr: we paid and they didn't update our account because they do everything manually, including adding licenses, so beware of that billing nightmare too!) Our business is entirely online and we have 25 employees. When they shut off our office, it affects us severely. Gather shut it off and took TWO MONTHS (we already subscribed to a new office by then) to respond to us saying they made a mistake and apologized. The app is ok, the company is full of idiots.

New version is too expensive and very buggy, and then once you pay for it then it further upsells you on an AI service that isn't included in the already expensive membership, and it doesn't tell you that part costs extra until you do a lot of upfront setup for it too.

V1 was good very good and was reasonably priced.

Our team of 30+ people has been dealing with constant bugs, login issues, and general instability that makes it impossible to work. WE SENT OVER 30 EMAILS AND NO RESPONSE. BIG SCAM OF A COMPANY

We paid $2,500 for the annual subscription, and we’re still being charged extra for Gather v2, a product that doesn’t work properly. Our team of 40+ people has been dealing with constant bugs, login issues, and general instability that makes it impossible to work.

We’ve reached out to support five times by email and haven’t received a single response. It’s been over two weeks of being completely ignored.

I love this virtual office! It creates such a strong sense of belonging, which is so important when working from afar.

Seems like an good idea, but has a poor execution. Also, extremely buggy across browsers and not reliable. I'd rather use Zoom

It feels like a real place and it works well! Now I can finally stop finding a website for a virtual office now that I have my very own gather space :)

Nice Idea, all Browsers has enought compatible, but the developers are not experienced enough to work across browsers! Android and IOS are no longer usable, but why?!? No App im AppStore… Pats are gread but limited for Nothing! The Idea is unbelievable but the People behind there are nothing. This is so mad, kick the developers!

Was excited to use this with our family but so confusing to use ! Hope you can make it more intuitive so more ppl can enjoy 👍

PROS: Looks pretty cute, has a social edge over the no-nonsense video conference apps like Zoom and MSTeams, excellent audio and good video quality, press Z for dance, many thoughtful features (but not as many as there should be), social setting audio simulation is super good

CONS: Can only walk in four directions, walking near others auto connects you to others' vid and mic feeds (this might give the feel of a real life setting where you can half-hear conversations you walk past, but here it just eats your processing power), could use many more thoughtful features (eg. option in settings to reset function keys, optional automatic ghost walking)

Overall, Gather is a great half-new idea that has been implemented to some success, and it will absolutely benefit from harvesting and considering opinions and suggestions from the community. Have a nice day :)

the call quality is so bad, it's always at 1 bar. I have a good connection, zoom, google meet, skype, everything works. but in gather the voice is choppy and breaking.. tried turning off on any/all possible settings. nothing helps.

It's a nice idea, but the map just doesn't save. I spent an hour constructing a virtual environment, saving regularly, only to end up losing it all to a really old saved version. Hopefully when it is more stable and they've worked out the bugs it will be a great platform. But right now it's not reliable enough.

Not very intuitive. Shame as it's a nice concept.

This works well for people missing their 'common room' or bar experience at conferences or events. Think 'milling' at a drinks party.... who might you bump into?

Would like to have more interactivity...

I just had a few minutes on this through my organisation. Seems a great idea and a lot of fun. We might subscribe to it.

I could not connect for a full 30 minutes.
The real gather.town was the friends we made trying to connect on the way.

Might become the next big thing. I was surprised how well it replicates office physical interaction. You need to experience it to really understand. And I could picture many other use case. I'm quite excited about it.
