Several reviewers also noted concerns about hygiene, such as dirty tables or issues with food preparation and service areas. Some customers reported issues with lukewarm drinks and the use of paper cups for dining in, which they found disappointing for a higher-end establishment. I absolutely love all Gail’s upmarket…

I absolutely love all Gail’s upmarket café’s. Their coffee is the best. Better than the usual high street chain ones. Gail’s is quality every time & you may pay a little extra but it is the very best. Their brown seeded sourdough can’t be beaten. This is the only bread we eat in our household.
The staff in all the branches I’ve been in, have been so friendly, professional & very helpful indeed but one in particular branch in Highgate, North London, the manageress Katie, went that extra mile & with that I thank her so much. If you haven’t been in one, then you must☯️

GAILS RADLETT branch…

I've been coming to the RADLETT branch since they opened. Excellent service. I am a regular customer
The team tries to recall your name and preferences and are very helpful and friendly. The drinks and bakery side provide a wide choice mostly made in-house. Recommend it.

Too lazy to use real cups

The tea was insipid and over-priced. Moreover, despite it being an hour-and-three-quarters before closing, it was made in a take away cup. When I queried this, I was told it was because it was 'nearly closing time and we need to get stuff washed up'. I was not warned about this. If I had been, I would have gone elsewhere as it is a terrible waste of resources caused by sheer laziness.

I visited the GAIL's in Covent Garden…

I visited the GAIL's in Covent Garden (Long Acre) and was shocked by the lack of value. I paid £4.50 for a coffee that was served in a tiny, handleless cup that was barely a few sips. To make matters worse, I wasn't even offered a choice of sizes, the staff just charged me a premium price for the smallest possible portion.

When a shop combines high prices with a total lack of transparency and an unfriendly vibe, it feels less like a bakery and more like a tourist trap. This "luxury" pricing doesn't match the service or the product. It’s a complete waste of money, and given the exclusionary atmosphere I felt, I definitely won’t be back. Save your money and go to one of the many independent shops nearby that actually value their customers. NEVER AGAIN!

Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport - I often stop by,to get some bread. Same as today just after 7:30 PM on my way back from work and the staff never disappoints. Today was no exception — guys were super friendly and helpful, as always. I didn't catch any names as they were quite busy, but a big shout out to them♥️

WOOLWICH SHOP

WOOLWICH SHOP: We are frequent patrons to our local Gail’s, however recently it’s been a lot harder to get a table inside for my disabled husband and I to eat lunch. Because the tables have been filled with people and their laptops sitting there for who knows how long having one coffee. It’s still too chilly to sit outside to eat and we’ve waited upwards of 20-30+ minutes to get a table. I’ve seen 2 young women with laptops sitting side by side taking up a table of 4. No coffees at all. I really think Gail’s should have a time limit (like Harrods has in their coffee bar - 45 minutes) when sitting at the tables, so more people can enjoy sitting in. Laptop users should go to Woolwich Works where they can pay to stay all day. We don’t like takeaway as eating out is a treat with my husband’s illness, as we don’t get out often. We’ve had to walk away a number of times as there’s no inside seats. We like the coffee, sandwiches and pastries, so don’t want to stop going completely. I hope the Woolwich Gail’s sorts out the lingerers real soon.

Gails Richmond poor service

While the pastries and coffee are nice at Gails Richmond, the service could be poor.
I was trying to order coffee but totally ignored by 2 members of staff who elected to serve other customers and ignored me standing in front of them, eventually asked me if l had been served and never apologised, l had to leave as they didn’t bother. I got what i wanted from the next door Milano cafe, were very pleasant. Will never go back to Gails Richmond.

Gails Harpenden, avoid.

Gails Harpenden.
Went today and their system took my payment. A few seconds later the ‘manager’ stated the payment hadn't gone through. I checked my bank account and it clearly stated pending. I showed her but she refused to accept and had to pay again. I now have two pending payments. Totally useless, no customer service. That’s the last time i will ever go to Gails and suggest you do the same. Clearly a corrupt system. I shall wait and see if I get my money back.
UPDATE: I returned to Gail’s and found the real manager, and explained the issues with the ‘afternoon’ pretend manager, and was duly refunded without issue. How can some young girl be left in charge without a clue! Faith slightly restored. Now up to three stars.

Opened Gail's Bakery app

Opened Gail's Bakery app. I got 4 loyalty stamps on my reward card. I visited Gail's this morning. How am I to know when I received these 4 stamps? The app is very basic and not terribly useful. I would expect this app to track when and where I spent at Gail's. I have noticed that sometimes the barcode in the app does not get scanned.

I bought only a sourdough loaf to try as an alternative to the bread that I buy at the bakery in Brecknock Road.
Superb bread that I cut into three pieces, freezing two for future use

Ignored by 3 staff for about 30 seconds while I’m the only one in shop. I was just about to walk out . Someone outside said this is normal behaviour. I used to be a regular last year but the experience is still the same so I won’t be returning!!!

Gail's Marlborough

Tried Gail's Marlborough today for the first time...and last. Tables left with used crockery, tables not wiped down, staff (2)more interested in what was on their phone and chatting, tray on which our coffee was served had coffee stains, coffee lacking much taste. There were only 10 customers sitting , so there was no excuse for slapdash service. Only 1 of the counter staff (who took our order) looked to be worthy of his position.
To be fair, all the food looked delicious...but at a very premium price.

No Tea Just Terrible Coffee!

I came in today at Liverpool Street Station and visited Gail’s, sadly they had no tea. So I opted for a latte as I’m particular about my coffee, sadly it was like drinking a cup of milk. My husband had a black coffee and it was unpleasant. The cake on the other hand Rose & Pistachio was lovely, not dry, this was at 3:40pm 👏🏾 I ended up buying another cake for the road!

Disappointment at Gail's, Brunswick Centre, London.

Bought a mocha yesterday at Gail's, Brunswick Centre, Bloomsbury. It was luke warm at best. The place was scruffy, tables were piled high with used cups, plates and cutlery. There were at least four staff members available but the place looked shabby and the service could be improved.

Grubby

We went into Gails in Wanstead and had two lukewarm coffees and an equally luke warm quiche. The quiche was very tasty to be fair.
I was compelled to write a review as the place was grubby. There were three tables that remained uncleared for the half hour we were there, there were tea/coffee stains up the walls, chairs and tables were crammed in together and the floor needed a good mopping. It was like a bad motorway service station cafe. For the prices of the coffees etc, employing a cleaner/table clearer wouldnt break the bank!

unhygenic

Went there Yesterday it was my second time going there and I was hoping that it had improved from my first visit but, unfortunately it hadn’t . I asked for a coffee with skimmed milk the server said semi skimmed I replied skimmed got my order and checked it was with skimmed milk and I was told they don’t do skimmed.
The food isn’t covered and there were dogs in the premises and the dogs hair was flying every where including on the food . The people handling the food didn’t have their hair tied back and there wasn’t a sign being displayed saying card only when cash is still legal tender they refused to take it asked them where does it say card only the server just walked away ..paid on my card as I had no choice .. Things need to improve there hygiene wise , customer relation wise and notifications for people to see about being card only before they walk in to the shop I for one will not be visiting Gails in Greenwich again
