Cyberlink bloatware and PUP
Cyberlink bloatware and PUP - TAKE CARE PEOPLE!!!!!
It is absolutely intolerable that a company labeling itself as "professional" operates with the ethics of a malware developer. After uninstalling their products, my system has been infested with thousands of residual entries, junk alphanumeric IDs, and ghost context menu commands that degrade the performance and integrity of my Windows Registry.
This is not a programming error; it is a deliberate parasitic strategy. Their uninstaller is a hollow shell—a technical mockery that removes absolutely nothing, forcing the user to perform hours of manual surgery in the Registry Editor to excise a "plague" that sows itself invasively into every corner of the system.
Escalation Notice: Since this software acts like a Trojan horse that refuses to leave the machine, I am currently collecting all technical evidence to formally contact the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) and EU technological regulatory agencies. I demand an audit on how CyberLink hijacks system resources and why they are permitted to operate in European territory using these malware-like practices.
FINAL WARNING: If you value the health of your hardware and your time, DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING from CyberLink. It is a digital cancer that trashes the registry, and its removal is a technical nightmare. It is a total lack of respect for the consumer and a disgrace to the software industry.
FORMELLE BESCHWERDE: CYBERLINK – EINE PARASITÄRE INFEKTION IM EUROPÄISCHEN DIGITALEN ÖKOSYSTEM
Rezension:
Power Director 2026 - Scammers
Power Director 2026 does not support mp4 conversion to gif, does not open hevc videos, recognizes webm videos as sound. I've bought another video editor and does all these flawlessly. Avoid this scam at all costs. I've wasted my money on this. If i find other issues i will let you know.
Cyberlink video director works most of…
Cyberlink video director works most of the time for me but there new features with AI and having to pay out for credits is a money making racket. Not only that but there AI features are crap and out of date, take music creator all it does is make a tune out of what you ask, no inputting your own lyrics, no choosing instruments, no picking models, no picking key changes, no audio to midi, no stem splitting the list goes on and on. They just can't keep up with Suno, moises etc I am thinking of cancelling my subscription soon.

Opened ticket on the cyberlink website with description / E-Mails and screenshot - received the dumbest answer that I should apply for a refund to the support E-Mail. I refused, as I had already lost more than an hour with their f*d-up process.
Told them to do their job -haven't heard back yet.
POWERDVD is excellent, but don't buy it from cyberlink, get it somewhere else!
Cyberlink is CRIMINAL
As everyone else states, this company is maddening and unethical. Customer support ABSOLUTELY SUCKS AND IS USELESS! Products are sub-par given the technology today. Even after I cancelled my annual subscription, they charged me anyway and now, even though they tell me I qualify for a refund, they are doing anything and everything to make the refund process impossible. Every time they give me a hoop to jump through, I jump through it, but that only leads to another hoop. I still have not received acknowledgement of my refund .
Wrinkle remover does not work…
Wrinkle remover does not work effectively. This annual subscription service continues to be a waste of money and time.

In 2025 they only got 1 star reviews on Thrustpilot. No surprise, they just got the minimum possible. Crooks. Expensive, bother you with upgrades a couple of days after your purchase. Do not work at all. Warning: don't buy
a fraudulent company from Taiwan
I subscribed the MyEdit but found it is very difficult to use,so I asked for refund immediately. the CyberLink agreed with my request, but now, i never get my refund, the case happened for a month and a half. I try to contact with the customer service, and just get a robot reply everytime.

Advertises free pc screen recording and after downloading and installing, requires payment/subscription for the advertised as free feature.
Horrible experience with software and company
Horrible experience with PowerDirector365 as well as terrible customer support. They make sure it is almost impossible to get a refund. Not sure how this is not illegal. Software sucks compared to Adobe PremierePro and costs almost as much. Huge waste of my time. Now to see if I get my refund or I have to report them.
If I could give minus stars I would.
If I could give minus stars I would.
After considerable difficulty, a Cyberlink clown in Germany sent me a direct-download link to PowerDirector 17. It installed and worked.
A few minutes or so later I receive a fleeting pop-up and PD stops working. I close and restart the program and....It's PD 365!
Now, I have a friend who is employed in a section of government dealing with 'foreign incursions.' (I won't say any more). He tells me that although Cyberlink is based in Taiwan, it actually is controlled by China, and to be careful downloading any software.
Why are Cyberlink pushing PD365? I've sent the program to my pal for analysis. More later.
Juat an update on my interaction with Cyberlink
Just an update on my interaction with Cyberlink: An 'Alvin' at Cyberlink responded to my emailed query made over a week ago.
He said he will help me to purchase a copy of PowerDirector17. Despite the software still offered on Cyberlink's website, he advises Cyberlink no longer support or offer that version, and that I should visit resellers like Amazon.
None offer PowerDirector 17.
Never have I encountered a Company as bad as this. Their website is so confusing as to be useless. They are forever pushing new versions of PowerDirector and, if you purchase, you will find you have to pay more for add-on program features that should be included in the version you are purchasing.
According to posts on the Cyberlink users' forum, PowerDirector frequently stops working if the user fails to pay more.
This Taiwanese Company are just internet scammers. Please avoid them.
Cyberlink Promeo crashes at startup - no support
I have a yearly subscription of all Cyberlink products, and have just installed Promeo (with an additional license). However, it crashes at startup, and I have tried contacting their support but don't get any response at all. Seems that as soon as you've paid for their products, they don't care about you anymore.
Company does not care about paid customer
I paid for the Cyberlink PowerDirector 15 program which supposed to be unlimited version, but now I am unable to use the program after I got a new PC comes with Window 11 OS. And their support center response (in short) was "it is my own fault for getting Window 11 OS".
While I understand that PowerDirector 15 was released in 2016 and predates Windows 11, it is disappointing that CyberLink has not provided any updates or patches to ensure compatibility with newer operating systems. Many software companies offer extended support for legacy products to maintain customer satisfaction and trust.
The reliance on the Windows operating system and related hardware/software drivers is a given for any software, but it is the responsibility of the software provider to ensure that their products remain functional and compatible with evolving technology. Simply stating that the product is a legacy version and no longer supported is not an acceptable solution for customers who have invested in your software.
It would be more appropriate for CyberLink to offer a clear upgrade path option to a version of PowerDirector that is fully compatible with Windows 11. This would demonstrate a commitment to customer service and ensure that users can continue to utilize the software they have purchased without disruption.
Great Customer Service
I have PowerDVD16 which is now eight years old. I had an issue reinstalling the software on a new laptop. Customer Services were fantastic- treated me like I'd just spend several hundred pounds on brand new software. PowerDVD16 is fine, but the customer service was great.
PROFESSIONAL EDITING FOR VIDEO MAKERS
This site is a marvel, but it takes practise and patience because it has so many brilliant features.
Multiple tracks, video and audio are easily added to make your studio production impressive. Certainly, submersive and gives full scope to your creativity. Many AI tricks are there if you want them, but I stick to basics.
I had a snag so went to 'support' where I had immediate help and was soon, politely, sorted.
It's all great fun, with a full video/audio studio on the side if you want to be really slick.
There are negative reviews inevitably, but I think they are from users who don't want to take the time to get into all the possibilities. I have my own YouTube channel and there I have many 'likes'.
There is nothing to lose as you can give it a try for FREE, then upgrade, as I do for less than GBP 60 p.a.
What are you waiting for?
Horrible start
Cyberlink’s “Error #1” with me was at 4:44 pm on July 13, 2024. My password (above) would not work. I only had the option to sign in with a different account or to press “Forgot password” and have to reset the password. Chose the latter, and got the message they would send me instructions for resetting the password.
Error #2: That message never came. (Hey, I had already received two notices at that email account of my payment being accepted for the PhotoDirector 365 at $39.99). I never got a message of how to reset it. That was Error #2.
So, here I am, locked out of what I paid good money for and was excited about getting to use it. Now it is more of an anchor around my neck as I sink deeper into a corporate maze. Help!!!!
Next, I tried to communicate with their “support” team. That was my ERROR, because there is no human contact.
So, first I was able to send a message on their support system and was told they would send a helpful message to me. ERROR # 3. That note never, ever arrived. So I returned to the Support options and tried a different one. That one told me that I had entered a wrong account. Yikes. ERROR #4.
By the way, I have seen bad instructional videos, but this one absolutely is the worst. Ever. Not one human word, just some jazzy music and some blurry video which was impossible to see exactly what the person was doing or why.
I have learned 3 lessons so far: (1) I should have paid more attention to the fact that Trust Pilot gave them an awful rating of only 2.0 (out of 5). (2) I should have heeded the bad reviews that their customers voiced on the TrustPilot site. And (3) I should have gone with the bad vibes I was getting instead of being dazzled by their long list of supposedly terrific features. Kinda hard to test the features when I cannot even open it to square one.
They are another bait and switch…
They are another bait and switch company. I read reviews of PowerDVD and the software was highly rated. Therefor I downloaded the Essentials version and liked what I saw, so I saw this ad when I was closing the program and decided that I would purchase it. So I clicked on the only button on the ad it read UPGRADE NOW so I did it took me the website and there was another button that said upgrade now, I pressed it and was taken to another page with tabs but was on the upgrade (all the other buttons were labeled UPGRADE NOW) so I purchased it and downloaded the upgrade to what I thought would upgrade me from Essentials to Ultra But this was not so.
I contacted them voice and was told great thanks for purchasing our software, but you will have to give us $50.00 I you want the software. They said that I had purchased the upgrade version (the one they directed me to buy advertising I would be upgrading from the Essentials to the Ultra version) and would have to give them $50.00 to actually purchase the software. I wish I could include the screenshots of the pages. Don't get caught in the Bait & Switch if you want the software don't count on any discounts to lure you in just give them the $100 up front so you don't have to go through the hassle.
Another Rip-Off Internet Company?
I'm very upset and still trying to get back the refund I should have had for Powerdirector. I asked them not to bill me but they did.
The link I got in the Cyberlink email for a refund did not work. Was then referred to Google Play and since then have been given the run around by Google play, including links that don't work. Was asked to authenticate my Google account and when I managed to get through to the correct page - it's all been confusing and timewasting work - the page said there was no such information in my account.
Google now says since I'm unable to authenticate they will not refund me.
They didn't look at their wrong directions, they didn't suggest another way.
I'm fed up with this, but I'm not letting them rip me off.
I asked for their authentication procedure again, let's see if they bother sending it.
This really disgraceful customer service. The money has clearly gone out of my account to Cyberlink and they're very unwilling to refund it.
Cyberlink listen to their custumers.
Have been customer for a long time. And I have given several feedback about their PowerDVD, playlist, miniplayer, and version 23 I got today. Seems to have everything I wanted fixed. Thank you!
