Folkuniversitetet Gothenburg - swedish course
Folkuniversitetet Gothenburg was an incredible disappointment. Was recommended by a friend who did an intensive Swedish course several years ago. Unfortunately the standards seem to have fallen.
I did the A1 part 1 & 2 course and had a positive experience with the teacher. However when I moved to the next level there was no consistency between the teachers or expected learning level, so I and my fellow classmates found ourselves at a total loss. It turned out that different teachers use completely different methods. Where one used conversation and role play, the other used only the textbook. This created an enormous gap when doing the standardised test.
The schools' response was to repeat A1 part 2 (at ones own expense). I immediately cancelled the course with the school's confirmation but was later charged 352SEK for a lesson that was chaotic, that dealt with admin issues and students wondering what was going on.
On top of that, Folkuniversitet sent the bill to a very aggressive collection firm who added another 200SEK.
If you are looking to study Swedish - I strongly recommend shopping around and doing your homework - it will be worthwhile in the end!
