Food poisoning. Beware.

I have been going to Manchester's flat iron location for a year now. I have noticed a VERY steep decline in quality. Originally the cut from the shoulder was decent when cooked anyway.

However, the last few times the steak has been sinewy and incredibly chewy, a good 2 mins per piece.

My latest visit had me violently ill just a few hours after eating.

I'm sad to say it's not just the money saving tactics, it's now the overall food quality and hygiene.

If you are thinking of going, you should beware of the above and perhaps find another restaurant.

I was expecting service at Flat Iron to be fast but it took the waiters 15 minutes to bring menus after we were seated. This was very disappointing.

I waited ages for the staff to comes give us menus, then waiting ages for our steaks to arrive. I heard from others that the service was quick, so was expecting our food to come quickly and the staff won’t quick, however, this was not the case.

I recently attended a birthday celebration at The Convent Garden branch. The service and the food was superb, it was very busy so it felt a little bit rushed. Will definitely return when not at peak service.

My husband and I recently visited your London Bridge establishment, where the culinary offerings, most notably the bone marrow mash, were truly exceptional. However, the experience was somewhat marred by a wait exceeding an hour, compounded by a lack of guest seating during the interim.

Food was spot on , what I didn't like was getting duped on the bill as yes the service charge is 12.5% and it states on the menu that it's on the bill.

What annoyed me was the 10p optional charge per steak is automatically put on the bill when it shouldn't be as it's optional when questioned the waiter said it states this on the menu I showed him this and he had no answer, basically every person gets charged 10p and most don't even think about it. It's not the cost it's the principle of them just charging you it's a disgrace imo I wonder if it even goes to charity. I thought it was a 1 off but they have done it again on Saturday.

Visited last Sunday Flat Iron Waterloo for a pre theatre meal. Everything was handled seamlessly, staff was aware of our limited timeline, but we weren't rushed and could enjoy a wonderful meal.

A little treat on the house for our aniversary was a nice touch and very much appreciated.

What a great place to have a steak absolutely amazing food and reasonably priced for London

We arrived 10 minutes early and was seated straight away which we were happy with, we hadn’t removed our coats when we were asked what we would like to order. We were given a few minutes to look at the menu the server came back took the order and within lass then 10 minutes we has steak on the table. Seems like everything might have been pre-cooked to a certain standard and re-warmed when the kitchen received the order. Total experience time was 23 minutes from the time we were seated to the time we received our bill.

We dined at Flatiron, 9 Young Street, London (Kensington). We had Wagyu Rib Eye with chips and salad. The food met our expectation, the steak was great and well prepared, home made chips, nice salad, good but quite small bernaise.
The waitress. Valerie was something special and very nice, she really paid attention to us throughout the meal- thank you ver much.
Will we come back? Definitely.

Visited on a whim last weds at the location in Spitalfields, London. Initially we're told to wait 40-45mins but somehow 2 mins later a table was free. We didn't know about the menu at all and were a bit surprised about how reduced it was. We were lucky to find that our server was a super nice spanish speaker girl that explained the menu and choices without sounding bored or inconvenienced. Menu is indeed small but have to say that what they do, they do it very well. Best meat I had in a very long while. Full of flavor and very tasty. Ambience is great and service super, super nice... and let's not forget the amazing free ice-cream at the end! We all agree that taking a chance on this restaurant was one of the best ideas ever. Totally recommended.

Visited Flat Iron Kensington London on 19.12.2025 - excellent food excellent service. Particular mention to Valerie our server she was knowledgeable and helped make my coeliac experience safe. She was great fun. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited Flat Iron Leeds 07.12.25. Food was very good, and good value for money. However the experience was ruined by the staff. There was no warmth in the service and one particular person was extremely rude in their approach and abrupt. There was no attention making our experience a better one. Sorry Flat Iron this is not what is expected

(South Kensington Restaurant)Food came out after only 8 minutes of ordering so you could tell it wasn’t freshly cooked, all the sides were luke warm and the mac and cheese was undercooked so the pasta itself was still slightly hard, I personally didn’t like the taste of the mash it had a strong bone marrow flavour which was extremely overpowering for me, the cream spinach was nice but a little too watery and the stake itself my partner and I both ordered rare, when it arrived the first piece I had was cold even though it was served on a what looked like a hot stone, it was bland and completely unseasoned, after having a few pieces and reaching the middle we both realised it was much more like it was cooked blue not rare , I ended up sending back 2 sides and leaving most of the rest of the food, I was extremely disappointed with the food but I couldn’t fault the service at all, amazing staff, very kind and understanding and quick Service.

Delicious steak but tiny. Do not visit the Manchester branch if you are hungry. I left disappointed and bought a burger on the way home. For the price I expected a huge nosh but was served a couple of morsels. Everything I ate or drank was very good but the portion size was woeful. When I commented such to the table supervisor I was advised to eat before visiting . . . oh dear 🙁

Great food at Manchester,choices great even though always busy majority of cuts are available. Staff know their stuff, wine is good too but the complementary water at Manchester is extremely chlorinated to the point I couldn’t drink it. Didn’t put me off the steak just drank more wine, might be the point 🧐

Just returned from Flatiron in Cambridge- it was great, we had just had a miserable experience elsewhere and they could not have been kinder. The food was amazing, really reasonable price and fantastic quality. Service was second to none! Definitely worth every penny!

We visited the Kings Cross venue and it was amazing! Warm and friendly staff and the food was amazing and fairly priced (for london) £60ish for 2 including 2 steaks, 2 sides and 2 cocktails. Jimmy was our waiter and he was lovely. Great evening! The Aperol Bellini and the Passionfruit Collins were delicious! New favourite drink found!

I had a disappointing experience at Flat Iron Leeds on Monday, 8 September 2025. After finishing our meal, the server showed me the bill, which looked correct. My husband then paid by card, only when I insisted on getting a copy of the payment receipt did I discover that they charge a different amount. The server seemed reluctant to provide the receipt, which made the situation even more concerning.

In the very beginning, i thought that the staff charged for extra tips. But when I contact the restaurant by email , they told me that their card machines are synced to the tills, and so the server has to click on the table number to then take payment - and the staff has clicked on the wrong table to charge me and not double checked my bill, which is how I have then been charged incorrectly. They also told me that they can arrange for the additional amount to be refunded to me. The email said they are very sorry for the honest mistake made by the staff as well.

Last but not the least, they will put 10% service charge into your bill without your consent. If you are not going to add any tips, please check your bill very carefully.
