Don’t go near them-they’re crooks

Very poor quality work: didn’t actually manage to repair what turned out to be an easy fix.
Vastly overcharged: charged $1500 for work that another company who actually repaired our aircon charged $165.
Very poor customer service: when requested to come and review their work which hadn’t fixed the problem, they offered to provide another quote for further work. We declined.
Pressured us to buy a new system from them at a vastly overpriced quote.
Don’t go near them, they’re crooks

What a scam

What a scam. My fault for not doing my due diligence.
Booked a service call with Mr Emergency who are the same mob as Metropolitan air.
Paid $141.80 to have a “technician” come out to have a look and see what the issue is.
The tech was nice enough and said I will need a rejuvenation of the unit (fancy way of saying a clean and service)
I said fair enough what’s it going to cost me? Quoted me $2050 for a clean. I mean WTF?
Told him will think about it and got another person to come and for quoted $150 for the same thing.
Metropolitans call out fee was the same as the others quote to actually service the unit.
All I can say is do not use their services.

Scammers and a complete waste of time…

Scammers and a complete waste of time and money. Stay away!

Will charge you $140 to show up and then without even lifting a screw driver, tell you that it will be at least $1,500 to do a 'rejuvenation' service which may not actually fix anything!!!

FFS - I can clean filters myself - I called these guys because the AC unit had an error code that relates to 'low refrigerant levels' but all they wanted to do was charge a huge amount of money to clean it before even looking for a problem!!!

Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

My partner booked with this company on Thursday and paid the $141 call out fee. He was advised on the phone that the fee would go towards the service. The technician was at our place for 2 minutes and said the price to service an aircon that is less than 5 years old was $1,500 plus $1,000 to re-gas the unit. We emailed the customer service team for a refund of the call out fee as instructed by the technician. The team replied to our email and advised that their exorbitant prices are due to their premium service!! They were misleading on the initial call, we asked how much it would cost for the service and they just told us about the call-out charge and never mentioned how ridiculous their pricing actually was. Families are doing it tough and companies like this are taking advantage of customers by charging a call-out fees to "secure" bookings by then pocketing the fee once customers actually find out how ridiculous the pricing is.

We have since had the aircon fully serviced and re-gassed for $286 and no attendance fee.

Please stay away from this company.

Waste of money

Paid $141 for 15 minutes of absolutely nothing, thought it was going to be fixed. What a joke. Then wants to charge $1800 for rejuvenation, plus parts. Absolutely ridiculous, stay away from these guys.

I urgently needed to repair my central…

I urgently needed to repair my central air conditioning and, under extreme pressure, I chose this company from Google. I was initially okay with the $144 call-out fee. However, the issues began when the technician asked for a parking spot, fully aware that their 2.2-meter-high vehicle wouldn’t fit in standard parking. Despite this, I agreed to pay the parking fee.

Upon arriving at my apartment, the technician inspected the air conditioning unit and the surrounding area, then provided me with a shocking second quote of $1900. They insisted this covered a complete service from start to finish, including cleaning and various other tasks. I found this price to be unreasonable, especially since it seemed like taking advantage of a customer in a desperate situation.

Ultimately, I paid $160 and received nothing in return, except for shock and disappointment. This company’s business model appears to rely heavily on employing numerous call center agents to take orders, then using these tactics to overcharge customers. When I compared this quote with a familiar technician, even they were astounded by the price. I strongly advise against using this company’s services, as they are likely to leave you feeling cheated and disappointed.

Hello Ken,
I see you are located in Australia. However, we are a small business located in California, United States and only provide services in the Orange County area. I understand there is a business a similar name located in Australia, however we are not affiliated with that business in any way, shape or form.

Scam

Scam - quoted us over $16k to install one air-conditioning unit when we had received multiple other quotes for under $2500.

Honest, Kind, competent.

Adam, from Metropolitan Heating and Air came and took care of our AC today. I know in this era of reviews there are tons of complaints, but rare compliments. I will tell you that not only did Adam take excellent care of our AC, but he is a man any father would want his daughter to marry. Adam was respectful, kind, caring courteous, cheerful, clean, and just a great person.
My compliments to his parents for raising a great man, and to Metropolitan Heating and Air for employing him.
If I ever need a HVAC person again there is no one I would call but Metropolitan. The owner has been here before, and he is every bit the same as Adam. I am a raving fan.

This is a bogus business

This is a bogus business. It does not exist in Australia. Yet we were scammed out of $1249. They “rejuvenated” our split-system air conditioner which included a “jet clean” of the unit. Of course it did not work and they then offered to replace the unit with a $10,000 system if we accepted within the week! Beware of these scam artists riding on the coat tails of a bonafides business website located in the U.S.

A TRUE Review

Seeing all the negative reviews was interesting as you could tell that all the reviews were from out of the country. I have been using Metropolitan Heating and Air for over 10 years to service all my homes and a few rental properties that I own in Orange County and Los Angeles county. They are always upfront about their pricing and always on time. They are thorough, don’t up charge me, don’t try to sell me new equipment and only complete what is needed and at a very fair price. I am a customer for life.

Consumer Affairs here we come

Consumer Affairs here we come! Read the reviews before booking them. (Melbourne)I just wanted to post this to warn others away from this using this company. I cannot believe they are getting away with what they are doing. I was nearly conned into paying $1200 to fix a problem which turned out to be a $50 part and fixable in 10 mins.
Long story short I called this company wanting to get an aircon tech to come and look at my faulty aircon and give me a quote for repairs. I found them on google and they seemed to have positive reviews and were the top rated in the results. They made me pay a $140 fee just for the call out which I agreed to. When speaking to them I asked about whether it was a qualified tech who would be able to do the repairs when they arrived (if possible) and was assured that yes that was the case.

4 hours after he was supposed to arrive, their so-called Tech comes out and it's clear he isn't a qualified and says, "Still trying to get my head around ducted heating" and would need someone else to do the work (so basically just selling me the service). He told me that my aircon needed to be "rejuvenated" and once done they could check to see what repairs would be done and they would quote me then for the parts or even for a new system if needed. The cost for the "rejuvenation" was $1200 and from what I could tell it was just cleaning with a high-pressure water pump. He put on the pressure for me to sign then and there but it definitely felt off, so I said I'll have to get some other opinions.

After this I checked into it further and found many more reviews all saying that this company was a scam and that the people they send out aren't qualified techs and will charge you for a "rejuvenation" which won't solve the issue and then try and sell you a new system. I asked in my local FB group and got a recommendation for a local tech. I called him and he was super helpful and fixed the issue and replaced the part for $300 which includes the service call fee of $250). He also said he had heard Metropolitan was notorious for ripping off people and charging $1200 for an unnecessary process.

I feel annoyed that I paid for the call out fee and it just seems very unethical to practice in this way. I am posting this hoping that people who are looking into these guys in the future are fully aware of how dodgy they are!

Gas Fire Place Issues

Came to check out gas fire place. Guy had no idea and could not advise what was wrong. Chared $160 then give a quote of $2500 to service the fire with no basis for what is wrong. Got someone in who knew about gas fire places, they identifed the problem in 5 minutes, fixed and serviced the fire for $180. This business is dodgy, we will be reporting them to the authoritys.
