To be honest, they dont deserve any star. They will suck out your bank acc. Never ever make any contract with them. Extremely bad customer service.

Misconduct by a PT

There is an in-crowd led by a PT, they will make every other member feel excluded, you will feel awkward just by showing up to the gym. This PT, Sogand Oskooei has taken the movie Mean Girls to the next level. Sogand exhibits a demeanour that is both negative and flirtatious, creating an unsettling atmosphere within the gym. Her proprietary attitude at the gym is quite noticeable. She often flaunts her perceived ownership of the gym's space and equipment.

Far from platinum

I recently joined the market St., Sydney platinum Fitness First. It is far from platinum. To start with the change rooms are so dirty, there has been an item on the floor for the past four days. I don’t think they clean the showers and I’ve seen cockroaches in the sauna. As far as the gyms concerned, the staff think it’s OK to take up three or four machines and benches with their clients at the one time. No one un racks, and the weights are all over the place. There are no spin classes, which I’ve been told that’s been the case since Covid.

I joined this gym as I moved back to Sydney and I live across the road so it’s convenient. However, I’ll be canceling very shortly.

Very poor customer service when it…

Very poor customer service when it comes to cancelling membership.

I was a member for a few years and requested to cancel my membership.
It took some time for them to cancel, they attempted to incentivise me to stay which I declined.
I have never had a more painful experience in ceasing a membership.
Fitness First requested a payment that I am not contractually obligated to pay which I have explained to them on countless occasions without success.
I am at the point that I will be escalating this to an external body for review.

If there is not sufficient balance in…

If there is not sufficient balance in you bank account, they charge extra $10 in addition to your membership fee which is definitely not fair. I would suggest the account teams to look into this as they should give the customer second chance.

the service is pathetic DO NOT JOIN!

the service is pathetic, they slapped me with an unauthorised membership fee increase with out any notification and have avoided my emails for over a month, it appears you can not find a gym manager, state manager, complaints department or a head office contact number or anyone else in the entire business other then the young staff at the front desk and they do not care. Be aware of this gym they are modern day scammers working under feel good marketing. do yourself a favour and do not sign up!

All they care about is getting money

All they care about is getting money. Even after you are out of a contract they force you to pay an extra month despite not using the gym. On top of which after you have provided 30 days notice they still charge you a week on top of that! They are a horrible company! And I WONT BE BACK!

I didn't want to get the vaccine

I didn't want to get the vaccine, so they banned me from entering their gyms, and they kept charging me fortnightly. When I asked to cancel the membership they said I have to pay a cancellation fee. So they charged me in spite of not letting me in their gyms and on top of that they want me to pay $300 cancellation fee. ARMA is chasing me up. Don't sign a contract. They'll force you to sign it, but don't.

I used to go to the Fitness First…

I used to go to the Fitness First location in the Central Canberra Mall downstairs. The gym is in the parking garage area underneath the mall, meaning cell phone reception is absolutely horrid. So the alternative is to connect to the Fitness First wifi included in the $20+ a week you pay to access the club. Well, needless to say, the wifi is also horrid and never works. For months they said they were "fixing" it and working with the ISP, and for months it has never really worked well minus 1-2 days where it was dead in the club at 2AM. They refuse to fix the lack of connectivity in the gym considering the basement location, and I had to plan out a playlist and download it like the 1990's again just to enjoy music during my workout. I've since switched to Lime Fitness just down the road and it has great reception for my cell phone and wifi. Please fix your "free" wifi Fitness First. It's unbelievably bad.

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with Fitness First. I purchased a membership on Saturday but found a better option and requested cancellation through the online form and in person at the gym. So far, there has been no contact or cancellation, and the debit is scheduled for Thursday. I need urgent assistance to resolve this.

Problems solved

I am a member of the Fitness First for many years. I have always been happy about the service I received. A few days ago I had a problem with my membership and direct debit. I was contacted by Emma at the head office, which solved the problem speedily and effectively. I found Emma helpful and polite. Her positive attitude and approach is commendable and in these present difficult times of uncertainty, is the only way forward.

Poor customer service

Disappointed! Was a bit surprised that I couldn’t leave my membership after one year. They asked me to pay for one month's notice period. Customer service replied to my email after one week. Bad experience. Do not recommend it!

Meh...

Meh, Average.

The local gym is fine - they should although double check on its cleaning standards in the pool area (since we are paying so much!)

The Head Office is useless. I did not attend a gym for a month due to health issues but yet they will not remove the monthly charge for that month for me. Silly if you ask me.

FF Vic Gardens VIC - Beware of the Hidden Conditions

I feel compelled to share my recent experience with Fitness First and want to alert others about some misleading practices that I believe need to be addressed. When I signed up for my membership, I was given the impression that I would receive "4 weeks free" as part of my 12-month contract. However, instead of providing these free weeks within the 12-month term, Fitness First actually extended my contract by 4 weeks. To clarify, the 'free' weeks were given at the beginning of the term, meaning that the actual contract (for which I paid) began after the first 4 weeks. This was definitely not clear when I signed up and I suspect it could easily be overlooked by others.

Another critical issue I discovered was the way Fitness First handles membership suspensions. If you choose to suspend your membership by paying $5 for that week, the fine print in their contract states that this also extends your membership at the end of the 12-month contract by the number of weeks you suspended your membership. Again, this was not clearly communicated to me when I agreed to the suspension. Had I known, I would not have suspended my membership while I went on holidays for those weeks - what was the point?

When I tried to cancel my membership after what I believed to be 12 months, I was informed that my contract end date had been extended due to these two policies. The communication from Fitness First regarding this matter was rather slow and in the end, left unresolved.

I hope this review serves as a reminder to prospective members to read the fine print and clarify any details with the gym before signing up. It's disheartening to see such practices in place, as all we want is a fair and transparent service for maintaining our fitness and health.

Please be cautious before signing a contract with Fitness First and ensure you are fully informed about all the terms and conditions.

Poor Membership Services

I usually only have good things to say about FF But lately the staff in the clubs are really having to work hard for the NOT SO GOOD MEMBERSHIP SERVICES Team to just let them down!
Recently over 5 London gyms have closed but and no allowance given to members that have paid upfront memberships. I was told I could not use Cottons London Bridge although I used the other London Bridge gym now closed as I did not use it often (my membership is for multi gym access which included London Bridge) the rules clearly state that you can use the other gyms but not too frequently or your membership can change. I abided by the rules!
Fetter Lane- closed
Gracechurch street -closed
London Bridge- closed
Monument- closed
Devonshire Sq -closed
To name a few
others to follow?
No reimbursement on membership and not allowed to use alternative nearby gym occasionally whilst in membership.
When I signed up it was for multi access and these gyms were open so an agreement has been broken somewhere.
Very disappointing. Membership Services Team please DO BETTER. The staff in the clubs are working so hard doing a great job just for you to let them down!
Also
The towel service has been very poor lately even though a new company is now on board!!

All my experiences at Fitness First…

All my experiences at Fitness First Poole are excellent. The gym is a friendly welcoming place with a huge choice of equipment and classes. The instructors are knowledgeable and helpful and are always available for advice. I wouldn’t change a thing
