Gas leak following repair service. The company had to come out the next day to fix.

The technician repaired a valve that he discovered was faulty on a previous visit to clean my fireplace. That evening I noticed an odor in the area of the fireplace. I wasn't sure if it was the result of it not having been used in some time. The next morning, I still smelled the odor and became concerned, so I open the windows and patio door. I called the company, and they were able to send a technician later that morning. He tested for a gas leak and discovered a connection made during the previous day's repair was askew and there was a leak. He was able to fix the issue quickly and I have had no problems since. The only reason this is not a one-star review is that the company responded quickly to repair the faulty installation. Both technicians were polite and kept the area clean, but this error could have led to tragic consequences.

I would recommend going elsewhere

I would recommend going elsewhere. After giving an estimate, we hired to replace a gas log valve and install a new remote control to en existing gas log set. After attempting to remedy a malfunctioning setup a couple of times they will not return to rectify nor discuss refundig a portion of monies paid. Disappointing.

FPCA takes our customer service extremely seriously. To that end, your review prompted a significant look at the situation as it played out.

To recap:
1/17: We arrived for a service call with the complaint that the "starter is difficult to use". Our technician serviced the unit which included cleaning off an extremely soot covered log set, rearranging the logs back to spec for better results, new sand, and new embers. Based on your request, the technician also recommended a different valve.
1/25: A technician arrived to replace the existing valve.
2/4: Technician arrived to adjust the pilot based on your complain that it was "too loud". Pilot was adjusted at no charge.
2/21: Technician arrived after receiving complaint that the unit made a popping sound after a couple of minutes and goes out. To accommodate the customer, technician replaced the brand new valve system.
3/11: Technician arrived to adjust logs since they "did not look as good as before the new valve". Sand and embers were added and customers custom grate was replaced as courtesy. Technician also adjusted the log set in the bedroom at the customers request "to look more like the downstairs fireplace". All were done at no charge.

Throughout this time period, you called and e-mailed several times with similar complaints about the pilot going out and or it being too loud. Eventually, it was explained that it could not be both ways and that that is why we don't adjust the pilot, i.e. the pilot is more likely to go out.
6/3: The last communication was that the remote was not working properly, and you wanted a refund for half the cost to change out the valve and that he would go somewhere else. After attempting to ascertain if you had changed the batteries, we received back an e-mail that you had. You ended the e-mail with "no worries, I moved on with another installer".

Throughout this process, we feel that we have done above and beyond the normal service up to and including multiple visits at no charge for issues caused by your requests. If you have found another service team, we wish you well. If you would prefer, you are welcome to give us a call at 630-279-8500 and ask to speak to our General Manager regarding this situation. He will get back to you promptly.

Great Company

Thru the years, I have used The Fireplace and Chimney Authority to convert my gas fireplace to remote controlled, wonderful service, everything works great, no worries about guessing about gas valves etc. also, to clean and inspect. Great customer service, the techs are kind and patient. Highly recommend.

Don’t hesitate!

The customer service was outstanding! The product was even better! I am in love with my fireplace and the door. I’ve used it every day since it was installed. I highly recommend working with this company.

John and Mike were professional in the…

John and Mike were professional in the execution and presentation of the installation of a new chimney liner. John removed old ceramic to replace with an insulated liner. John answered all my questions and we are looking forward to using our up to code fireplace!!

The representative was on time…

The representative was on time diagnosed the issue and had the part in his truck. He checked the whole system made sure all was working properly cleaned the unit when he was finished. Very pleased.

Their prices are comparable to others I…

Their prices are comparable to others I received quotes from but the service and communication was much better. I would recommend using them. I had a chimney liner installed and they also did some work on the flashing around my chimney. The service technicians were very respectful and trustworthy and cleaned up thoroughly. Excellent!

Everything was wrong!

Everything that could have went wrong, did go wrong. From start to finish, not one thing went right, and the company took no responsibility. The ordering process took two months, then came in without screen, they blamed that on someone else, then screen didn't fit the custom front that they measured. 4 months later and were still waiting on it to be finished. No offer of discount for all our trouble, never will use again!! It's bad when the installers bash the "Manager" R.J. hopefully you have learned a few things from this.
