Love my bike!
Love my bike!
Have had my Borealis Crestone for a few weeks and I love it. I waited a while to join the Fat Bike club, but really happy with my choice.
Everyone at Borealis was great, from deciding on a build to answering a few questions during assembly, great service!
I even convinced my brother-in-law to get one.
Thanks!!
Scott
Never returned emails!
Never returned emails, I really love the bike, but so disappointed on replacement of warranty parts ! I did not have a multi colored bike , now I do ! I was told Not to ride the bike till part was replaced ! Fork and wheel was shipped back for for Verification , at my expense ! And i was told they only have a blue fork ! Did I buy a black bike with a blue fork? No ! Is it my fault that existing Fork Failed? I asked if they could contact corporate , Never did! Would I ever buy a Borealis bike ? Not Sure , but I’ve been temped with the newest models! Hope someway this review gets back to Borealis Corporate! Wish I could get reimbursed on the bike ! So sad ! Not a happy customer!
great all around bike.
great all around bike., actually! although the Crestone w. FAT tires, really excels in the mud, sand and snow i’ve ran w. a pr. of 3” 27.5 tires during the Summer mos. and it does just fine. the longer wheel base is great for decent and overall comfort although it is not what i would call a technical bike. i also own a static Borealis fork which i run pretty much year around except during desert rock style riding where i switch it up for the Bluto Rock Shox..
Excellent bike quality and performance…
Borealis is an awesome company!I have had a Crestone carbon for a few months now and it is amazing quality and performance exceeded my expectations. It is is such a fun bike to ride.
Borealis has been great to me with…
Borealis has been great to me with their knowledge and support of first my original Yampa and then with my Echo. Fair and very helpful.
Purchased Demo Crestone with XO
Purchased Demo Crestone with XO. Adam was extremely helpful, shipping was very fast to a remote part of CO, and bike arrived in the condition I expected; actually better as you can't even tell it was ridden!
Can't believe how much fun snow riding was with this bike! And the carbon rims are awesome; i was cruising up climbs and very impressed with the instant response you get from these rims!
Snow's mostly gone now and we're into mud season but looking forward to trying it on the dirt when the trails dry out.
I do wish you made this with lower standover and shorter reach for us short women though! I essentially have 0 standover and had to purchase a 35mm stem to shorten reach as much as I could and will probably need to purchase a bar with some sweep to shorten some more. Be nice if you made an XS size.
Best pike what i have ever.
Great service
Great service. Helped me get the right parts for a new wheel set. Knew exactly what I needed to fit my borealia echo. Shipped out fast so I could finish my winter riding season.
I came real close to five stars but…
I came real close to five stars but that would mean that my bike was perfect. It is near perfect, hence the 4.9 stars. I love my Crestone as much or more as my older Echo which is now my loaner bike that my friends get to enjoy. The only thing about the Crestone that kept it from five stars was the seat tube water bottle mounts do not allow my seat post to be dropped. I had to cut my seat post just to make it fit me.
Great bike exceeds my expectations!
Great company to deal with great bikes…
Great company to deal with great bikes to ride and for a small IBD very nice people to work with. Thanks so much borealis.
Fat bike fun!
I purchased the Borealis Crestone GTX with the lauf fork this past December. This is an aggressive and light trail ripping machine. I mostly use it when the trails are snow covered or wet and muddy. I’m getting used to the proper tire pressure with the stock aluminum rims. If I use less than 8.5psi I risk bending the rim on the rocky terrain (this is inconvenient but easily correctable). In the future I may spring for the carbon rims as an upgrade. It was a great experience dealing directly with Steve Kaczmarek. He was responsive and went out of his way to make sure I was getting the right bike, and resolved minor issues immediately. I absolutely love the bike, and recommend it as a super fun ride that will keep you off the boring indoor trainer even during inclement weather. Thanks Steve!
Weak Customer Service
Initially I had a good experience when I bought the bike. Shipping was quick and the bike was mostly assembled so it was super easy to build up.
However, less than a year into it I started having trouble with a leaking rear brake caliper (Sram Level T). I realize that Borealis doesn't have any control over components. I sent multiple emails requesting some direction on how to handle the situation.....crickets. I never got an answer. So I just replaced the brakes with shimano XT's all together.
Then I had an issue with the rear derailleur cage. It got bent...no big deal these things happen. It was not repairable. So, I decided to replace the derailleur and shifter. When I tried to route the shift cable through the internal routing path I COULD NOT get the cable to exit where it was supposed to on the rear chain stay. I tried the magnet trick to pull the cable along. I also tried the thread / vacuum technique...NO Luck. I called Borealis and the said I would have to strip the bike and send it in but it was not likely to be covered by warranty.
Eventually, I found the problem by using a fiber optic endoscope. The internal routing tube inside the frame was completely broken 8" down from the head tube. Eventually I got the cable routed, Borealis was not interested in how or why this happened.
I ride this bike a lot and it's a pretty nice frame. However, their "after sale" customer service is weak.
Borealis Fat Bikes, #1 in my opionion!
Borealis Fat Bikes are the best bikes I have ever had the pleasure to ride. I have over 40 years experience owning, riding and trying many different bikes. I currently own 9 bikes. N+1. I find myself always choosing the Borealis. It handles any terrain. I live in the mountains of Northeastern PA. We have rocky, rooty, sandy, muddy trails. This bike handles all terrain with ease. It is truly a pleasure to ride. Comfortable, nimble, and faster than my 29er. Climbs and descends with ease. I am a huge fan of these bikes and would suggest anyone looking for a top quality fat bike give them a try. You won't be disappointed!
Good customer service, poor product.
Good customer service, poor product design. Yampa should be using a rear thru-axle. Any uphill torque and the rear axle would come out of drop-outs. This is a known issue and cause for a product recall. Customer support was great trying to find a solution but I still cannot safely use this bike. Have tried everything asked and bike still is not safe for use. $1500 lesson >> buy local and support your LBS!
excellent service and a great bike.
Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service.
If you are buying a Fat Bike this is the place to buy it from.
Easy to assemble and no damage in shipping due to their protective packaging.
I got a great deal on a great bike,
Amazing products and customer service
Excellent products, but more importantly, expert customer service. The people at Borealis really go the extra mile.
I have ordered a frameset, extra hubs, and warranty replacement of a fork on separate occasions. The warranty replacement happened while living abroad. In each instance the people I spoke to were fantastic at identifying the right products and ensuring I received what I needed efficiently.
The Borealis bike I am currently riding is a 1st generation Yampa, and has been one of my most favorite bikes that I’ve owned (and I have quite a collection).
Borealis has the trifecta - great quality, high performance, and trusted support.
