A potato croquette is NOT a veggie burger

I bought a so called veggie burger at an event today and got a deep fried round potato croquette (mashed potato covered in breadcrumbs and with a couple of pieces of sweetcorn and green bean in it) . Cheap and cheerful and not bad as a chip equivalent, but in a bun as a burger - just wrong. There are any number of excellent meat equivalents nowadays. When I said to the staff that this was not a Veggie Burger as advertised I was mocked by the manager who got the whole crew to join in! It was round and had vegetables in it (90% of which was potato) apparently that was the definition of a veggie burger. No, a veggie burger is a burger with no meat in it - for vegetarians. Yes they come in all styles but generally not a potato croquette! They asked me what I thought a veggie burger was and I said textured vegetable protein for example (I know it is more sophisticated than that, but what was I supposed to say?) They told me that was Quorn and for Vegans. It was so ignorant and old school it reminded me of being a vegetarian in the 70s or 80s. As a catering company they really need to get up to speed. Their website states the customer comes first. Clearly not their vegetarian customers and all their staff are happy to be rude! That was £5 straight from their caravan and into the bin. A very expensive potato croquette.
