easy enough to use, takes some time to gather the info, but it always does. will use again as they are less than half the price of others!

She took the time to answer all my questions and made everything much easier. Highly recommended!

Easy to worth through each section. I felt the descriptions and explainers for what terms mean were helpful. And half the price of my last tool!

Very easy and affordable. Decent customer service when you email and/or app. A bit tricky as a freelancer because wasn't always sure of the answers. But good to get this done without having to do it ourselves.

Years after years, the service is stable and I have access to all my history of documents.
One suggestion: please use AI to remind us what was last year answer + couple of sanity check question to drive us. This year I had to use an AI tool next to expat file in order to be even more efficient. (<15min this year for the full exercise!)

Very easy to follow the step by step instruction.

Not completely confident it was all filled out properly. There was conflicting information I had to sign off on at the end without the ability to verify. Also, would be nice if there were instructions in how to PAY after the forms have been submitted! It’s buried back in the app and you’re not allowed to “go back in”. I can google it, but…. Also, there was a delay between the time my return was done and when I filed but interest was not recalculated so I’ll get a letter in the mail at my IS mailing address telling me I owe more, and by the time 8”I finally get that I’ll owe MORE, etc etc. Better to just overpay and eventually get a refund in the mail, but that seems kinda’ dumb. Finally, my adjusted gross was about the same as last year when I used OLT, but the taxes this year were more than double. I don’t have the time or energy to sort out why.

After reading loads of reviews and doing my own research, I decided to take the plunge. It is a really great platform and makes what is often stressful a lot more bearable and gasp, straightforward. The UI is intuitive and almost feels as if someone is guiding you. I also liked how Expatfile created and delivered my tax pack just as the IRS requires. It just took all the (potential) drama out of everything. I like drama free.

Truely a great piece of software, it was very quick, not really 10 minutes but 20 minutes is still good enough for me, maybe next year could be 10 minutes, the first time you need to add more details I would think.

Simple instructions and well designed website. Reasonable cost.

Easy, quick, clear!

The help was not what I expected, mine taxes where rejected twice, I had to send it by mail from Ecuador and cost me extra money and lot of stress.

I had been doing my return by paper for previous decades. This software does not need me to find or use the IRS Forms or Instructions. It asks you questions, in Plain English, does the calculations for you and turns your answers into completed IRS forms before it moves them on to the IRS. You pay for the use of the software every year but, so far, the lower stress level is worth the cost.

Update: After posting this review, the founder of ExpatFile, Hank, contacted me personally. He investigated my concerns, explained what happened, and has been extremely responsive and helpful in resolving them. While my original frustrations with the software/support process were real, I very much appreciate the way the company responded once the issue was brought to Hank’s attention.

I contacted technical support multiple times with user questions and never received a response. The system doesn’t allow you to input the previous years 1040. Not sure the system transmitted my fbar. Very confusing interface.

It's wonderful how they've thought of every case scenario. The interface is so smooth and the instructions are so clear. I haven't encountered any issue using the platform, everything was great.
Even the pricing is fair compared to the product quality, I just love it.
