Scam

Scam. Rented through Expedia. Showed up on time in Nice airport with a valid French driver’s License. They refused us the car because the valid license had clear scotch tape on the fold. Avis and Enterprise accepted the license without question. The agent said l wasn’t telling the truth about that, perhaps l was talking to management. I asked to speak to his manager and her refused. He was unpleasant and very unprofessional. He said l would not get my money back. Expedia said they don’t get involved with local document disputes. We rented from Avis with the same driver’s license at great expense because we had nothing prearranged.
Robbers!

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

We hired through motorbility as its the company they set us up with whilst our car was fixed. We contacted europacar and luckily for us they had a car in, freshly valeted and a 7 seater - exactly what we needed so we picked it up within the hour. Perfect! We videoed around the car aswell as inside (the dash too, petrol tank levels etc - remember this fact) to show how it was when we picked it up. We had the car for nearly 2 months, looked after it, got it valeted and fueled up before it went back so we didn't get any aditional charges as they stated we would otherwise and thought we'd done everything right. WRONG. A few weeks after we received a charge for £69.99 on our bank. We chased this up and they said it was for fuel. We knew this wasnt correct because we fueled up. My partner spoke to many different agents over the phone who either 1. Had shitty attitudes 2. Couldn't answer questions we asked 3. Put the phone down on him (professional) or 4. Advised sending an email - which we did countless times and got no further on. We asked for evidence of how much fuel was in it, they couldnt provide it but stated it was full when we picked it up - it wasn't, it was 3/4 full (remember, we videoed the levels) which they didnt realise. Continuously argued their corner that wed sent it back below half and this was all going on leading upto christmas - causing stress and us being £70 down. Fast forward over a month of a dispute, my partner was given an email address for customer service that actually helped. Lo and behold, it was "a mistake" and we're now getting a refund. So my advice to you, video the fuel levels and car before and after pick up/drop off and if you're in dispute, keep going if you're right. Only once this had all started did I read reviews and see that they just love to add those extra charges....they don't have evidence so make sure you have yours!

Booked a car online from Europacar…

Booked a car online from Europcar Hamilton, ( myself and my family used to go to enterprise car hire but they ripped my daughter off recently for 250 pounds, stay well back from enterprise rip off merchant) the experience at Europcar is much better, car hire price much better, overall experience brilliant, Sam that delt with the booking out and in was very professional and helpful (I honestly wish I had went to Europcar a long time ago) but rest assured my family and friends will use Europcar from now on, many, many thanks to Sam and the rest of the Europcar team, (Enterprise car and van hire have lost a good loyal family and friends all for ripping a young mother off for 250 pounds) once again to all especially Sam at Europcar for your expert help and advice, my family, friends and myself will hope to see you soon.

worthless service, extreme prices

Tried many times to book a car since ours broke down. The website is an absolute nightmare and so is their customer support. Eventually managed to find a phone number of a local dealer (by using Google) that was opened in the weekend. Got an estimated cost of more than €1000,- euro for renting it in Sweden and returning it in the netherlands the next day. I could have bought a car that amount of money and save me the hasle of having to deal with this worthless company.

Europacar Sharjah Airport UAE

I am extremely disappointed with Europcar in Sharjah, this car rental company in the UAE. Multiple charges were made to my Visa card without my permission and without any invoices! This even happened after my family and I had already left the country. The purpose of the charges was listed as “Shopping in UAE” – absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional!
I contacted the company several times to get an explanation, but I never received a satisfactory response. I have never experienced anything like this before. These unauthorized charges are a breach of trust, and I will definitely consider taking legal action.
I strongly advise against renting a car from this company. Such customer service is intolerable and dangerous if you can't even be sure that your credit card information is secure. Stay away!

They did not communicate with me

They did not communicate with me . Then they took money from my credit card without permission or explanation on 3 occasions! . After filing a complaint through my car insurance who has a contract with them they eventually refunded me 89% of my money . ( Like why would I leave the petrol tank only 7/8th full !) Their car was grand . Don’t use this company.

Worst service. Unfriendly people sitting on the staff. You cannot contact customer service or contact them via email. Car was in bad shape too.

I am a disabled lady driver and my car had to have work done so mobility use that company I got the car wasn’t showed anything about the car anyway I worked it out and used it to go shopping and I received a parking charge the said company tried to take £32.90 but my bank declined then the mobility people called them an then said they will try to take again in the meantime I appealed the charge which I told the said company and sure enough without a text email anything at all they took that amount which left me with no money I called them to say the charge had been dropped and to refund my money I sent proof it took weeks before I received it today I get a letter saying I had to pay within 7 days I called them and lost the plot and told the bloke to take me off the list they are a bunch of inadequate persons as the review I read before mine they are no good stay well clear

Europacar Rental at Frankfurt Hahn Airport

My flight on 15 Dec 23 arrived at Frankfurt Hahn late after duty hours as my flight from London Stansted was delayed for more than 30 minutes. Before my departure from London Stansted, Alexia from Frankfurt Hahn messaged me as I tried to call her and the front desk there to make them aware I would be late. Alexia was out sick and stated that another co-worker was working in her place, and they were not permitted to work over 10 hours. However, if anyone needed to pick up a car after midnight, they would have to pay 60 Euros more. Alexia stated that I could make hotel or Air B&B reservations about 10 minutes from Frankfurt Hahn Airport, but when I inquired, they were all booked out, and I did not factor this additional hotel cost into my budget. When I arrived at Frankfurt Hahn, I texted Alexia to let her know that my flight had arrived so I could pay the extra 60 Euros, although I did not factor that in my budget either. Alexia did not text me back nor was anyone at the Europacar counter. Therefore, I had to stay the night at Frankfurt Hahn Airport and pick up my reserved rental car at 08:00 the following morning, 16 Dec 23. I also had to pay over 400 Euros for car insurance which was already paid/factored in the price when I booked it with Ryanair. I found out later this was nothing more than an expensive commission cost for them.
What Europacar could have done to make my experience better is to have systems in place (e.g., have a person on standby to issue rental cars after duty hours) in situations like mine and, I'm sure, many others, as this was out of my control and no fault of my own that my plane arrived late due to unforeseen delays.
Europacar at Frankfurt Hahn Airport need to also ensure all cars are serviced and topped off with the necessary fluids as I also had to spend extra money and stop at a gas station to pay for windshield washer fluid as it was drained.

AVOID at all costs.

These guys are incompetent, pointless and just rude. They couldn't run a vehicle hire service if their lives depended on it and instead of apologising when the mess up, they blame the customer and act like refunding you for no service provided is doing you a favour. What an absolute shower. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

upselling intimidation

Three times i have used Europacar - all three times they have argued with me trying to upsell insurance at the collection point. They have been aggresive and intimidating.
They also failed to provide a car similar to what i payed for and i still had to pay the higher price.
Terrible customer service - they are on commission to sell you more things and intimidate you

Had a hirer car via Europacar Italy

Had a hirer car via Europacar Italy! Be very careful when hiring a car in Italy via economy bookings and Europacar !
They want you purchase their fully comp Insurance when we didn’t require it as we had our insurance !so they will not process your booking or take payment ( kept saying not authorised even when funds available ) however the over ride it when it’s a higher amount to be paid!!

Do not trust them you could be entering into a scam and coerced to buy their full comp and very very expensive insurance, something not required.

The rep didn’t walk us to hire car or check it before handing keys to us, once we checked without rep we noticed a dent on the roof!!!

Service is appalling and no one is answering on the customer service number given, we have tried for 3-4 days!!!

We had our disabled relative with us and we felt we had to go with their insurance to get car, it’s terrible how we all were treated.

We did appreciate the rep waiting for us due to Ryan air being delayed for 2 hours as we didn’t know car hirer wasn’t open 24 hours!

Be carful!

We have emailed and no responses, nothing, we want a full refund for the extra Insurance, which wasn’t required.

Be aware when hiring as they will give you alternative car and that car was so cheaper than the booked once, Be aware as their cars are also rubbished brakes not working properly not cleaned.The customer service is really bad. I would not choose them ever again

Honestly the most shambolic company…

Honestly the most shambolic company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with!
I phoned to complain about a faulty window wiper on the rear of the car.
Deartment after department were completely uninterested. Telling me to phone different numbers, transferring my calls and being very un helpful! A girl laughed in the background when she heard I was on the phone again. So professional!
To make matters worse they then have no record of my calls and no record of there car being uplifted and taken to the garage. I eventually had to phone Vehicle replacement group to sort out a new courtesy car, as I was getting no where fast.
Europa car your call center staff need re trained in customer service!

Avoid! No refund

Went to collect car card terminal would not work more than likely due to the storm as payment could not be taken was refused car.
Possibly lost all money paid as was a last minute booking.

Be aware when hiring as they will try…

Be aware when hiring as they will try to charge you even if you paid full coverage, Be aware as their cars are not allowed to commute in central london so choose another company otherwise you will end up paying fines as they dont inform you. The customer service is really bad both on line, email and in the actual offices.when you book online again there are extra charges that they dont inform. I would not choose them unless i dont have another option

To give a balanced view

To give a balanced view, there are two parts to this story. Firstly, the ground staff were good and the quality of the car was excellent. No problem there. However the story goes ... I booked a car many weeks in advance and got one for €188 for 28 days on Tenerife. Still weeks in advance I e-mailed the company several times to say I would be arriving several hours later than the original 12.00 time notified. No reply to any of the e-mails (although the company have no problem sending me marketing e-mails!). On arrival at 20.00 (eight hours later than planned) I was informed the contract was cancelled and if I wanted the same type of car, another €100 please! So this company behaves like carpet sellers and cannot be trusted.
