This review is for Escalon Services Norway. I do NOT recommend Escalon Services. It’s unbelievable how much they charge for a job we could have handled ourselves through our accounting system Tripletex. You end up paying a premium just to have an accountant based at Aker Brygge. Even though the company had few transactions, fixed fees for the annual accounts (which were not agreed upon), etc., made the total cost far higher than expected. Stay away…

Please dont believe any of the reviews here as the L&D team makes us write these positive reviews to hide the real work culture in Escalon. That is why I have to write this review from another account. I was laid off from the company for the most unprofessional reason possible - I used to point out where there were mistakes in the files (just to correct them and make them better) and it hurt the fragile ego of my manager and the director. Speaking of my manager, Mrs. Ravneet Kaur, she is clearly the most incompetent and undeserving employee I have ever seen in my career so far. In fact, she is not even worthy to work at an Associate level (freshers designation in Escalon) over there. Here are just a few examples:
1. Finance knowledge: She doesn't know the accounting treatment of accruals, deferrals and advances; she doesn't know the difference between Sales and Marketing costs; she doesn't know that Settlement and Severance cost or any cost line item can have different vendors in different months. She doesn't even know the difference between Direct Tax and Indirect Tax. YES, you read that correctly! Infact when I explained the difference in financial terminology, she couldn't understand it and I had to tell her that Direct Tax is the TDS deducted on her salary and Indirect Tax is the GST she pays when eating out at a restaurant.
2. Excel skills: She doesn't know how to use XLOOKUP for matching 2 or more criteria; she links cells in the main sheet to cells inside pivot tables on other sheets; she did not even understand a formula I had put having SUMIF with INDEX-MATCH and used a long multiple-SUMIF formula instead! She doesn't even know INDEX-MATCH and asks juniors of other teams instead of asking me because of ego problems (and of course inferiority complex)! In her own created file for Budget vs Actual she didn't know whether it would be appropriate to use VLOOKUP or whether it is appropriate to use SUMIF.
3. Other Tools: She has never worked on any BI to date. In fact, it took me only 5 minutes to customize FP&A reports on Netsuite after my first training, whereas even after 2 training sessions, she wasn't able to find an important column for our reports even thought she has been working in Escalon for last 3 years!
You will be even more shocked to know that she has been working in the Finance field for over 18 years and is currently earning in the 30% tax bracket! Imagine being judged for performance by this person who doesn't even have the knowledge and skills of a Big 4 intern. She used to lie so much about her being in the hospital and not able to do anything, yet she was in perfectly good physical and mental health the next day. She's so sly that she never used to give me full information before any task and I had to work late for it because of her changing instructions. Whenever she came to the office, she used to sit with other teams because she felt an inferiority complex even while discussing any task with me!
The sly Mukesh Kedia orchestrated my layoff with the help of his loyal pet panda Anmol Kak. He even put false allegations on me like behaving badly with female colleagues! Typical Kolkata Marwari behaviour.

Work is done so carelessly. People do not speak English. Cheap performance

I would concur w/the September '20 review below about nice people up front but not a high performing service organization. I've worked with some pleasant controllers there but the team creates too much rework on our part and requires too much day-to-day intervention relative to other bookkeeping services. Because switching services requires a good deal of effort, we've tried to make it work but after three years of trying, we're taking our business to a reputable local firm for more professional results and streamlined communications.

PS, the good reviews below are suspect. Aditi Sharma is an employee (per LinkedIn) and the other one could be an employee, as well.

TLDR, they get you to meet with a very nice sales lady, a very nice CPA, a very nice Bookkeeper, promise timely accurate financials and a quick onboarding, and then once you sign, they hand over the account to India where they do nothing, you never meet the nice sales lady or CPA again, the bookkeeper is a middleman to India and does not actually manage the books, so financials are SUPER inaccurate, and if you try to break the contract they ask you for $30k because wait for it, it is a 1-year contract that they never disclosed in writing or verbal ANYWHERE except in the terms and conditions that are not actually in the contract but in a small print hyperlink to the terms.

We are so delighted and glad with the current performance that when we were facing issues in Human resources processes and our order-to-cash area, we contact with Escalon to solve our problems and implement a cost effective solution. Now Escalon is performing awesome and helping us in everything. Thank you escalon team

I got to say that Escalon services did a great job. They helped me in managing the finance of my business. They have a team with highly effective and smart individuals who work 24 hours. Thank you Team Escalon.
