I ordered a large hardcover book from …

I ordered a large hardcover book from Ergodebooks through abebooks. The book cost $121. I contacted them three times and asked them to mail it in a box. I was willing to pay extra just to have it mailed in a box. They, however, sent to me in a think bubble envelope. The book arrived very damaged. But Ergodebooks could not care less -- and abebooks does not allow customers to review these scam artists.

Later on, I found out that Ergodebooks is not a legitimate bookseller, but a bookjacker, i.e., they do not own any of their own stock, but simply hijack other legitimate booksellers' listings from other websites and then post the listings with inflated prices. Even the Better Business Bureau has an entry devoted to them (this Texas company has a dozen names: Fast Media, AmiVentures, Extremely Reliable...) as notorious scam artists.

Drop Shoppers & Book-Jackers....a rip off and a scam!!!

On 4th September, 2017, I ordered a book online from Ergode Books (only 1 copy was available from Ergode Books) though Abe Books. The book was listed as "used: very good" and priced at £28.90 with the estimated delivery given as on or before 09 October, 2017.

A couple of weeks after I placed my order, I made a polite inquiry regarding the shipment to the vendor through Abebooks and was informed that according to them (Ergode Books) the item was lost in the mail and apologized for the "postal mess". Ergode Books then provided me with 2 options; to wait 3 to 5 weeks while they procure another book or to issue a refund. I kindly refused both and requested that shipping information be provided to me in the form of either a shipping invoice or a tracking number. Ergode Books did not comply.

In the meantime, I raised the issue with Abe Books while keeping Ergode Books informed in parallel. I made it clear that I did not wish to be issued a refund and made it clear that I had no problem waiting for Ergode Books to provide me with proof of shipping or a replacement book.

Ergode Books then arbitrarily imposed a refund upon me because they decided that it would take too long to find a replacement book as there was nothing in their "warehouse" or non-availability from any of their "suppliers" while Abe Books supported the decision and processed the refund on Ergode Books behalf.

During this entire process, Ergode Books continued to list the book on Abe Books though in a degraded condition from "used: very good" to "used: good" with an increase of price from £28.90 to £117.05!!! When insisting that I would accept the present listed book in a degraded condition while the refund was enforced upon me, I became fully aware of the scam the Ergode Books is running.

Further investigation convinced me to file an official complaint through the Texas BBB as Ergode Books is listed in that state but ultimately it was transferred to the BBB in Victoria, B.C. Canada. Sadly, because the refund had been issued, there was no other recourse though it was obvious that this was also favourable to Abe Books.

In noting the long list of subsidiaires under Fast Media and AmiVentures, including Ergode Books all of which are located at;

while pairing my experience with many other complainants towards what is obviously drop-shopping, book-jacking, etc it is a social responsibility to inform others by exposing Ergode Books and it's subsidiaires for what they are;

None of these are legitimate, including Ergode Books; nor are they in any way acting in the better interest of their customers. They cannot even be placed within a reasonable level of trust regarding making the simple provision towards providing ordered items to clients in a timely and professional manner. They cannot even be considered a provider in any reasonable definition because they do not have an inventory!!!!

In making any queries related to Ergode Books and others connected to Ami Ventures, the internet is a treasure trove in presenting negative reviews and complaints towards them and I highly suggest that you heed the warnings.

Ergode is a scam - Don't buy from them or Sears Marketplace. I ordered an item, it was charged to my credit card, but I never received the item. It should have been shipped to me, instead the fony ups tracking info showed it was delivered to a city in Maryland. No street address just a city! Called Ergode 4 times, emailed 2 times, still no response. Sears Marketplace should be ashamed to have this vendor on it's site. I am not ever going to buy from Ergode or Sears Marketplace.

SCAM!

60 COMPLAINTS ISSUED AGAINST THIS COMPANY ON THE BBB! AVOID! I never received my book, and when contacting the company, they refused to provide tracking information after explicitly requesting it. The vague response received from "Joy K" was that my item was "lost in transit.... sorry for the postal mess". The same response was given verbatim to other customers posting negative reviews. If you request Ergodebooks to expound and specify, they will prevaricate.

I filed a complaint with Abebooks, and although they agreed to issue a refund, they provided a firm defense against the notion that this company is a scam. If you purchase books from Ergodebooks, you will essentially be fighting on your own.

All the 1-star online reviews are true – just research it for yourself. The couple of positive reviews are left by fraudulent profiles. THEY ARE BOOKJACKERS, meaning that their selling posts are not legitimate. Ergodebooks is a subset of FastMedia, a scamming company, as listed on the BBB. The owner is Rupesh Sanghavi and goes under various pseudonyms like "Joy K".

Almost, if not all, customers will not receive their purchases, or will be involved in a ploy to receive their order incomplete or defective months later.

DO NOT TRUST - scam company!

I ordered a rare book which they claimed was in stock, also paying shipping cost from US to U.K. After paying I got no emails, no receipt and no tracking information. Within 2 days the money was gone from my credit card. After 14 days I had still not had any communication with the company nor received my book.

I contacted the seller who claimed that they had been unable to verify my identity and the order was not processed. They asked me to send a credit card statement or drivers licence in order for them to verify me (whatever that means?!). After googling them I saw many negative reviews suggesting it is a scam. I asked for immediate refund but didn't get one. Reported to my bank who can hopefully help out.

This is NOT a legitimate business and will trick you out of your money.

Bookjacker

ErgodeBooks aka FastMedia "Ships From USA" is a bookjacker that lists items it doesn't have, overpriced and with misleading information (i.e. listing books as NEW). Once the order is made, they buy some cheap used copy and resell it to you. Just google "Ships From USA" complaints board" Stay away and spread the word.

Scam Buyer Beware

The seller ErgodE is a scam artist. They provide you with a fake usps tracking number, and never ship the item. I canceled my order after waiting for 2 weeks with no updates. Sears said it was supposed to arrive 4 days ago. Oh and do t bother calling their Texas based numbers. They are google phones that go to voicemail. Sears said they would give me a full refund, but I'm going to have some very sad kids now since this was a Christmas present.

"Ergodebooks" / amitcj / and "extremelyreliable" are scam companies run out of a house at 25547 Canyon Crossing Dr., Richmond, TX 77406, phone 281-738-1101. House is owned by Amee Shah-SA and Rupeshkumar Sanghavi.

I bought a book from them, which was never delivered (it was never shipped..!!). For two months, ergodebooks made me run around in circles, made me call the post office, provided me with fake tracking numbers, lied to my face that the book had been shipped when this hadnt been the case etc.. until i started searching the internet, realized this was all a scam and i managed to get a refund.

Ergodebooks has NO inventory, they are a drop shipping company, book brokers. The scam buyers by selling them books at inflated prices, or by failing to deliver orders, and they scam sellers by occasionally pretending they do not receive their orders. These people are essentially scammers.

This is a scam that needs to be stopped - they are literally infecting websites such as amazon / abebooks with MILLIONS of book postings.

Wrong order, refusal to help, don't trust.

My order was a 2-part secondhand book set described as hardback and in good condition. The books that arrived were paperbacks in very poor condition - battered and full of scribbling.

When I complained the company first asked me to send photographs of the books, which I did, then offered me a partial refund, which I refused. After that every attempt to contact them generated an automatic response asking me to wait 48 hours for them to deal with my enquiry. I also discovered that the company had not actually had the books in stock when I ordered them but had themselves ordered them on the same day from a different company for a significantly lower price than I paid. Somebody had mistakenly sent me the original invoice with the books. In short, this company is not to be trusted.

P.S. (Added August 2020 - bizarrely they've now also sent a reply to this complaint saying that they're sorry and will deal with it. Scanning the internet and randomly replying to complaints that have already been dealt with is apparently their idea of customer service. Another reason not to trust them).

STAY AWAY DONT GIVE THIS COMPANY BUSINESS Zero Stars!

Just over 2 1/2 weeks ago i ordered a book based on the good reviews on Ergode website. A few days again i was getting concerned where the book was only to find this review page which got me worrying. Hubby sent an email asking for tracking number which came through quickly but unfortunately we couldn't get to work. He emailed again and they then sent a link to us which gave us the courier and date of delivery. Obviously haven't received it but got me and hubby thinking about a Small envelope we received last week containing a very cheap cd you would get on the front of a newspaper. Thankfully I retreaved the envelope from the bin to find the same tracking number on the envelope.
They obviously sent this to give them proof of postage and delivery but at the same time ripping us off. Am now escalating through Paypal.

Beware - Shady Seller - MineCraft Enderdragon Via Sears Marketplace

My wife ordered this item back at the beginning of August. We received a tracking number a couple days later from the company. The tracking number was from Royal Mail. At that time Royal Mail had no record that the item had been picked up. So we gave it a few days and checked back and still no update.

My wife called the company late august and they gave her the run around, she figured that ordering through Sears.com would be reliable seller.

I finally got involved 29 days later and called sears and got phone numbers to contact the business. Doing a background search on the company and phone numbers shows it is a business that 2 or more people run out of a house in texas. Everything that I have found tells me that its probably a scam operation.

So I end up calling the company and was a cluster****. The guy that answered said it was not the business that I needed to call the other number but after I would not get off the phone, he handed the phone to his partner. The guy told us that the item was held in customs and that it would be delivered within 48 hours. Royal mail has no record of anything being picked up or any tracking updates from where the item may or may not have been picked up from the factory.

Fast forward 48 hours, the item still has not arrived and royal mail still has no record of a tracking number.

Bottom line, I feel like this seller is a scam artist, Sears has informed us that there are other pending cases of items never being shipped. Sears should vet the people selling in their market place better.

Rupesh Sanghavi and His Company Are Scammers

I ordered this book on January 12th. They did not supply a tracking number, which I thought was strange until my package did not arrive on the given date. When I contacted the seller I was told that the package was returned to sender due to an incorrect address, which cannot be my fault as nothing else on my account has this issue.

I contacted the seller and they informed me that I would be required to pay the $3.99 in shipping for reshipping the order when I was not at fault. After this I called the seller directly. They then told me that they would not charge me for the shipping, and they would send the order when they received it. This was February 6th. I then called again on Feb 10th, when they then informed me that my shipment still had not been received yet, and they were going to charge me $3.99 again. After finally re-iterating that I would not pay for someone else's mistake, they told me that they would contact me in 48 hours and update me on whether or not my book had arrived at their warehouse. As of February the 16th I had not heard a word, so i called again.

After being fed excuse after excuse about their non-existant warehouse, I finally began to exhaust every option by digging through their convoluted support structure. I called every day and left bad reviews everywhere until one day i received my book in the mail. The receipt was NOT from Ergode and was for 20$ more than I paid. They presumably shipped it to me to shut me up.

Persistence pays off when you're scraping scum off of your shoe.

bad website fake product

i spend nearly 200 dollars to buy a hair dryer which break after two use. checked online found no warranty. it is a fake product. also they give a fake tracking number. the shipment did not arrive as they promised. very bad experience. will treat this money as a lesson. never buy from no name trash website

Would NOT recommend! Stick with reputable online retailers.

I was shopping for a gold floor lamp and found one on the sears.com website. While in a local Sears store, I made the quick decision to order it from Ergode, one of the marketplace sellers. I was attracted by the low price and free shipping. I had no knowledge of Ergode, but felt confident in my decision since they were aligned with Sears. When I received the shipment, I opened the box to discover they had sent me a table lamp - not the floor lamp that I ordered. As I needed it for a Christmas gift, I quickly went online to the Ergode site, and entered a customer service inquiry asking that they send me a prepaid UPS label so I could ship back the table lamp. I also called the "customer service" number they had listed on their site. The line rang several times before someone finally answered in a barely audible, barely understandable voice, saying: "How can I help?" They did not identify a company name at all. I almost hung up as I thought I had reached someone's residence. I then went on to state the problem and was told I had to "send images" of the product I received and that I would hear back from someone within "72 hours." I received the wrong item, but have to wait 72 hours before I can even get to the next step? I then emailed an online image of the lamp I ordered and the lamp I mistakenly received, and asked that they send me a prepaid UPS label ASAP. I heard nothing the next day, so sent another email. Still no reply, so I researched the company and found the name of the CEO. I copied him in on further correspondence, to see if that would light a fire with the "service people." I also indicated that if I did not receive some type of reply from them, I would contact the Better Business Bureau in both Richmond, TX, where Ergode is supposedly located, and La Puente, CA, where my lamp was shipped from (company called Click2Go?). 2 days later, I received a reply from 3 different customer service people saying "how rare" this type of mistake was, and asking for "more time" to address the problem. Finally, four days after my initial contact to them, I got an email saying they had "authorized me to return the lamp," but did not say anything about sending me a prepaid label. They gave me an address in Lakeland, FL, for shipping back the table lamp. No company name, just the address. I looked up the address and discovered it belongs to an automotive tools wholesaling company!! I even tried Googling "Ergode" and that address, to see if perhaps they had a location there (fat chance of that) - and found no connection whatsoever. They are asking me to send a decorative table lamp - for one's living room or bedroom - to an automotive supply wholesaler?! Are you kidding me? Save yourself a big headache and order from a reputable online retailer. SHAME ON SEARS for aligning itself with this operation.
