UPDATE: After posting this review, EpicVIN management reached out directly and issued a full refund of the $99. I appreciate them resolving the charge. However, because it took a public review to get a refund that their support team previously denied twice, I am leaving my original experience below.
I initially paid $1 for what was presented as a single vehicle report. The report itself was completely inaccurate and couldn't even identify the correct car name. I was willing to let that slide, only to be hit with an unauthorized $99 subscription charge a few days later. When I immediately contacted support to cancel and request a refund, they refused, offering only useless "store credit" for a service I already know is inaccurate.
EpicVIN has since replied to my initial complaint, claiming "transparency" and pointing to a screenshot of their checkout page as proof that I agreed to a subscription. Ironically, their own screenshot proves my exact point: the auto-renewal terms are intentionally disguised in small, dim, low-contrast text designed to be overlooked. This is a textbook dark pattern, not transparency.
Let’s be entirely clear about their business model: the $1 "fee" is not a legitimate trial. It is a calculated mechanism to capture and store your credit card details so they can silently deduct $99 later. A reputable company offering a genuine trial does not rely on fine print and visual tricks to trap users into expensive monthly subscriptions.
If they were truly transparent, the $99 recurring charge would be as large and clear as the $1 entry fee. By refusing to refund a subscription that was immediately canceled, they are confirming that their revenue relies on catching people off guard, not on providing a service people actively want to pay for.
Do not give this company your payment information. They employ shady, deceptive billing practices. Consider this a warning before you lose $99 to a trap.

Really fast and simple to look up information I need. Gives a detailed overview of the history of the car. Highly recommend.

£1 “trial” that quietly turns into £49 a month for the exact same information. No clear warning, no reminder — just a charge.
They hide it in the T&Cs and make it easy to miss, clearly hoping people won’t notice. You only find the subscription buried in their clunky portal.
£49 for repeated access to static data is ridiculous. Misleading and not worth it. Avoid.

Really useful service. And a very comprehensive car report with the details I needed.

Yup, I got taken. EpicVIN offered the trail offer to use their service for 3-days for $1.00. I did not see the fine print that allowed them to switch my purchase to the $100 per month service charge without notifying me first. My bank luckily flagged the transaction allowing me to cancel my service. Great bait and switch tactic but poor ethics. I asked for a refund and was told they don't know how to do a refund. Really!!!

This is a legal scam, they charge you a dollar for a vin report, and hope you won’t notice it’s for a “trial” that auto renews for $50 in three days and then reoccurs monthly. Do not put your card info in this site.
