EnvKit is a free desktop app that runs your whole local web-development stack from one place, on Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon). It replaces the usual pile of installers, config files and terminal fixes with a single control room. With one installer you get nginx or Apache, several PHP versions side by side, MySQL / MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, Mailpit for catching test emails, Node.js and Python. Every project gets its own .test address with trusted HTTPS, so secure cookies, OAuth callbacks and hot reload behave locally the way they do in production. There are no certificates to create by hand and no hosts file to edit. EnvKit is built for developers who work with Laravel, WordPress, plain PHP, and JavaScript frameworks such as Next.js, React, Vite, Angular and Express. You can create a new Laravel or WordPress site in one click, switch the PHP version per site, start queue workers and scheduled tasks, and share a local site with a client through a public link. When something breaks, EnvKit tries to fix it for you. It finds port conflicts, stale processes and bad configuration, explains them in plain language, and restarts only the service that needs attention. EnvKit also includes a built-in MCP server, so AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and JetBrains IDEs can manage your local sites, databases and services directly. EnvKit is free to use, with no account and no paywall. It updates itself in small downloads and is available in English, Arabic, German, Spanish and Persian. It is a modern alternative to Laragon, XAMPP and Laravel Herd. Download it at https://envkit.net. Questions and feedback are welcome on our Discord or at info@envkit.net.

I recently migrated from XAMPP to…

I recently migrated from XAMPP to EnvKit, and overall, it has been a great experience. EnvKit offers a cleaner, more modern, and convenient environment for local development, especially when working with PHP and Laravel projects.

The setup and management process feels much simpler compared to XAMPP, making everyday development more efficient. Although I encountered a few minor configuration issues during the transition, the overall experience has been positive.

I really appreciate the effort behind EnvKit and look forward to seeing more improvements and features in future updates. Keep up the great work!

From XAMPP to WAMP to EnvKit

I’ve used XAMPP and WAMP for years, and now I’ve switched to EnvKit. Honestly, it’s exactly what I was looking for. It makes setting up and managing my local development projects much easier and saves me a lot of hassle.

Great job, EnvKit Team! Keep it up!

Hands down the best local web dev stack

This feels like a huge upgrade from other tools I have been using in the past. For Laravel development it has all what I need and more. I was also pleasantly surprised how fast maintainers respond to submitted issues/requests. Asked for a feature that I was used to in herd and it was released few days later, just amazing!

Game changer

EnvKit has genuinely transformed how I do local PHP development — it's the most intuitive and powerful local dev stack I've used, and it lets you ditch clunky Node.js tooling or heavyweight IDEs entirely.

Each project gets its own fully isolated environment: you can register any CLI command as a tool or set up cron jobs in a single interface, and they all run alongside your project. Deployment from ZIP archives takes just a few clicks, and you can install multiple versions of PHP, Go, MariaDB, and other services that run in parallel — so every project spins up on exactly the stack it needs, natively, without Docker or something! From there, it's one click to open your configured domain or project folder in your favorite editor, manage environment variables, or fire up a terminal that behaves like a real server. Git branch switching, commits, and full log viewing are all built in.

It's a paradise for PHP developers, though it handles Node projects just as well. What really sets it apart is the community: the maintainers respond to bug reports and feature requests almost instantly. File an issue on GitHub, and you might have that feature in a new release within two hours — it genuinely makes you feel like part of the project.
