The car was ok and that was the only thing good about this experience. So many hidden costs and because it is run through a third party Gurin, there are so many more costs than you were led to believe... See more

Unusually Bad Experience
Usually, Enterprise have been really good, but this time has completely missed the mark.
I have rented from them so much, I had enough points to pay for one of my rental days.
I wanted to pay by debit, checked the rental policy and it said I can as long as I provide 2 utility bills, some other items, etc.
I went in prepped. I got to the counter. I said I'd like to pay by debit. The guy, who until this point was friendly turned serious and said NO YOU CAN'T. Immediately dismissive. I said what do you mean I can't, I read the rental policy. He backtracked. He made a joke about how prepared I was.
He then proceeded to ask me if I'd ever rented from them before.... with my account on his screen, alongside 3 references and phone numbers, my job title, my company, my direct supervisor, whether I own a car. A little overkill but sure, debit must be scary.
I paid the fee then got shown to our car. It was a "you pay we choose" scenario. Firstly they tried to upsell another car for an extra $30 a day. I said no. They said "how much WOULD you pay for this upgrade". I declined, but what is that? Either the car costs an amount or you're overcharging people.
Then I got absolutely hounded about the different ranges of protection and the many awful, tragic things that could go wrong should I not take at least one of these add-ons. I'm aware of the risk of renting a car. Telling me I can't pay for debit when I can, trying to barter an upgrade, and then being in my face talking about serious financial loss. Just an overall unpleasant experience.
Before I left they said "we'll probably give you a call tomorrow to see how you are getting on". Of course, check in on your car. They never called.
It's so disappointing because I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with Enterprise in the past. I will not use them again.
Disappointment
Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Enterprise Rental Service and Misrepresentation
I am filing a formal complaint regarding the extremely poor and misleading service I experienced with Enterprise Rent-A-Car while attempting to obtain a rental vehicle covered by my insurance claim with Allstate.
On March 5, I filed a claim with Allstate Insurance after my 2018 Honda CR-V was damaged. On March 6, an Allstate representative informed me that a rental reservation had been made with Enterprise and that someone from Enterprise would contact me. I was also provided with a reservation number.
However, no one from Enterprise contacted me. On Friday, after waiting the entire day, I called the Enterprise number provided by Allstate. The representative could not explain why I had not been contacted. I was instructed to visit a location approximately 20 miles from my home.
I drove to that location only to be told that they had no vehicles available. I then contacted Enterprise again and was directed to another location approximately 15 miles away. When I arrived, there was no Enterprise office at that location.
On Monday, I located an Enterprise office near Katy Freeway and Mason Road. When I arrived, the staff initially stated that there was no reservation and told me to contact Allstate. After speaking with Allstate again, the Enterprise staff suddenly stated that they had found the reservation but had no vehicles available.
Allstate then directed me to another Enterprise location at 23311 FM 1493. At that location, the Assistant Manager, Kade Fung, informed me that the reservation had just been received and that there were no vehicles available, but he expected a mid-size SUV the following afternoon. He also stated that I would need to upgrade the rental. I contacted Allstate again and the upgrade was approved.
The next morning, I called the location as instructed and was told that vehicles would be available at noon. At noon I received a call from the same location stating that there would be no vehicles available until Thursday.
Because this situation had become extremely frustrating, my wife called the same location shortly afterward without mentioning Allstate. She asked if vehicles were available and was told that they had plenty of vehicles available and that she could come in immediately to rent one.
When I went to the location myself, the representative confirmed that they had a vehicle available. However, when I confronted the representative about the conflicting information and the earlier statement that no vehicles were available, he became upset and refused to rent the vehicle to me. He returned my driver’s license and stated that he would not rent to me.
This experience involved multiple unnecessary trips, misinformation, and what appears to be deliberate misrepresentation regarding vehicle availability. I spent several days trying to obtain a rental vehicle that had already been authorized by my insurance company.
I am requesting that Enterprise corporate management review this situation, investigate the conduct of the employees involved, and provide an explanation for why I was repeatedly misinformed and ultimately refused service after being told vehicles were unavailable while others were told vehicles were available.
I would also appreciate a formal response regarding how Enterprise intends to address this matter and prevent similar situations from happening to other customers.
Sincerely,
Nauman Khan
Nightmare
My experience with Enterprise has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish.
The hire car was provided while my Hyundai was in for work, with Hyundai covering the cost. Despite this, Enterprise took money from my bank account without any prior warning or communication.
I emailed a complaint and eventually received a phone call. During that call I explained that I had never received any paperwork or agreement, and nothing had been sent to my email. The employee checked the email address and said he would resend the documents – which I never received. It also took four days just to receive a reply to my complaint email.
When returning the car, I even brought another person with me because I believed the hire car had to be dropped back to the branch. No one had told me otherwise. When I arrived, I was then told I could have simply left the car at the dealership where I collected my own vehicle, meaning the extra journey was completely unnecessary due to poor communication.
To make matters worse, the very next day £500 was taken from my bank account with no warning, no email, and no explanation.
When I rang the Chorley branch, they told me the Wigan branch was dealing with it. I was then given a number for claims and spoke to a very rude representative who simply stated it was all in the terms and conditions. I explained again that I never received the contract, only to discover that Enterprise had recorded my email address incorrectly, despite it being checked twice while I was present.
The entire process has been extremely frustrating and poorly handled. Communication has been terrible, money has been taken without warning, and staff have been unhelpful and dismissive.
Charging £500 for a single tyre is completely unreasonable and I will be formally contesting this charge.
Overall, this has been an incredibly disappointing experience and I would strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with Enterprise.
Rental Car Deposit (JOKE) and TOLL FEES after using OUR own EZ PASS and account!
Rented a car, first of all we had to put down a $350 deposit! Which blew my mind because if you have your OWN car insurance WHY are you charging people that. Secondly, my daughter was traveling, so we put the car and plate number on our EZPASS account and after we returned the car, we were charged about $150 worth of TOLL charges but also were charged regular toll charges on our EZ PASS account. When I tried to fight it and sent them an invoice of the EZ pass account, they said the dates didn't match! MY daughter only had the car for three days. They took the money directly from her bank account and said that we OWED that! So, watch out because this is a damn SHAM! We used our OWN ez-pass information on the rental and they basically told us we were LYING! And refused and denied to give her the money back! NEVER again will I rent a car from this place! UNACCEPTABLE!
Downtown location Edmonton alberta this…
Downtown location Edmonton alberta this place is the most unprofessional business i have ever seen and its not the company its the people working there. They actually told me and quoted ( I gess your shit out of luck) instead of taking me seriously and try to explain what i needed to do they seem be selective on who they deal with by the sound of your voice on the phone. They were very rude and unprofessional and should be ashamed that you take your problems out on your customers. I will not recommend this company at all.
I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car - 112-01 Queens Blvd.
From the moment I picked up the car and left the location, the vehicle was nothing but a problem. As soon as I drove away, the tire pressure warning light came on showing low air pressure. I immediately called and informed them, and they told me to come back. When I returned, they simply put air in the tire and said there was nothing wrong with it.
However, as soon as I left again, the tire warning light came back on. I had to return once more to get a different car. By the time I finally received another vehicle, I was very late picking my son up from school. Unfortunately, the second car also showed that a tire was losing air pressure.
I then called customer service and was told I could go to Enterprise Rent-A-Car - 2900 Merrick Rd for a replacement. When I arrived, the representative told me they had no available cars. After going back and forth, they eventually provided me with a vehicle.
On top of all this, the car was dirty when I received it, and the radio did not work at all. This is completely unacceptable for a rental vehicle.
Overall, the service was unprofessional, the vehicles were poorly maintained, and the way the situation was handled was extremely frustrating. To make matters worse, on Monday I received an email from Enterprise customer service regarding a damage claim related to the tires — something they are now trying to blame me for.
I would not recommend renting from this company. If you are looking for a reliable and safe car rental experience, I strongly suggest finding another option.
Use a different company
Be extremely careful booking with Enterprise.
I prepaid £895.75 for an 11-day rental from Nice Airport and arrived later the same afternoon on the pickup day. Because I arrived outside a 2-hour pickup window that is buried in the terms and conditions and not clearly shown during booking or in confirmation emails, they treated it as a “no-show”, gave the car to someone else, and charged me a €150 fee.
I never received a car and had to rent another one from a different company at the airport (who were far more helpful).
It then took almost a month and four phone calls to receive the refund for the rest of my payment, with repeated promises that the refund was “on the way” and no email confirmation despite asking for a paper trail.
In the end I got my money back minus £150 for a car I never received. Very poor transparency and customer service. for a car I never received.
Changed the Terms 3 days before Rental
I booked a 7 seater Peugeot 5008 on the 31st January for the 7th March to take my daughter and friends to her birthday party as one group.
On the 4th March I received a phone call to say that upon collection of the vehicle I had to have a physical credit card and pay a refundable deposit of £500 as it’s a ‘high end’ vehicle. There is nothing on the booking confirmation that states this in their terms.
I don’t have a credit card and ultimately my booking had to be cancelled.
The added insult to injury is that because the cancellation was within 72 hours of collection, I’ve had to pay a £40 cancellation fee.
This isn’t just a company that acts in bad faith, it’s a company committing daylight robbery.
Avoid like the plague. Shocking car quality
Cancelled on me at the last minute multiple times then gave me a car that smelt like a dogs backside. The irony of being told you cant have pets in then the windows look like they have been dog licked over and over, not cleaned and left to fester. Honestly can't describe how sick I have been driving round sneezing my head off whilst smelling like I've got my head up a dogs backside. Vile.
Dodgy practises
Enterprice Brentford UK location:
I booked & reserved my car a month ahead. It would be my first time driving on the left side of the road so I decided to get a small, automatic economy car for my trip.
Upon arrival the booked car wasn't available - and all other automatics had broken down as well. So They said I would get an upgrade instead - lovely - now I'm driving a manual SUV, leading me to feel less confident and thus accepting their damage waiver for an additional ₤15 a day. Already feeling pretty bad about the whole ordeal.
I suppose all would have been fine there, where it not that I was handed the SUV with an almost empty fuel tank, returning it with more fuel that it had initially at pickup, and still being charged ₤60 for 'Fuel Recharge' and 'Fuel Admin Fees'
It's ridiculous, they charge for the reservation, including a ₤200 deposit upfront - then give a refund after they have subtracted any extra and hidden fees from said deposit. Without any communication mind you; they told me everything was okay when I returned the car, I got no invoice or receipt that would have indicated extra fees/costs being applied.
customer service has no mail, only phone - so best prepare to be busy the next week after your trip. Terrible company, DO NOT RENT>
Dishonest car hire company
I feel your staff scammed me and failed to inform me of damage on the car. Then forced me to pay for the damage when returning it . They could provide no proof that the damage wasn't there when I took the car out and taking the word of your staff is unsatisfactory and I would never hire a car from yourselves again.
The person conducting my van rental was…
The person conducting my van rental was very helpful. The rental cost is very high all things considered. Enterprise are like a low cost airline, everything is extra, and they even charge road user tax in addition to VAT. The van is filthy on the inside, less so on the outside. With 40,000 miles on the clock, it is well used and the cargo compartment floor is soiled, but the cab was also very grubby with mud on the front lower dash area. This was the only van available in the size and rate, so I phoned customer service about the state of the van. The person I spoke to was not in the least sympathetic. He said they clean the vans only if there is time, and they do not fill the fuel tank they mark down what is left in their favour, so just over 1/4 was marked 3/8. The windscreen on the inside was covered in some kind of haze, so clearly not cleaned for months. The van may do the job, but the attitude of Enterprise leaves a lot to be desired. They are a low to middle-of-the-road company, it seems. Other options may be a good step up and may also be cheaper and their people may be more customer oriented.
Very bad customer service
Very bad customer service. Car had mechanical fault and took them 2 days to swap
Tyre cut scam attempted by a young
Tyre cut scam attempted by a young , diffident sales lady who didn’t even have the confidence/ ability to drive the car into the garage from the road outside .
E mail sent to get a manager to contact me . I heard nothing .
In the trade they call this ‘ sharp practice’ . To honest people it is , simple crooked behaviour .
Avoid this company . Everything that is wrong with the current car rental market .
The branch involved ? Enterprise , Kirkcaldy , Fife .
Watch out for hidden fees
Watch out for hidden fees. Unless you prepay for toll road usage in advance expect to be charged a service fee.
A real life example of this, if you travel on Saturday and pay the fee Sunday you will be charged first thing Monday. In addition to this, you will be charged a service fee per toll, despite the fact multiple tolls only require a single transaction.
Cancelled my van hire
Hired a van 6 weeks before moving weekend to then get a call at 6pm the day before we’re moving out cancelling our booking. Apparently the van is no longer available. Now I’m stuck, sat here looking for vans to hire for tomorrow morning whilst everything is closed.
No apology, no real explanation, and still no refund.
Avoid this terrible rental company at all costs.
Avoid unless you have money to spare... dont trust them
they are all nice and friendly until something goes wrong and then they ignore you, they say there do a full safety check and within a few miles the tyre has trouble... its your fault and if you dont take out roadside assistance it will cost you, i was always under the impression thats breakdown assistance but no its to cover tyres and windscreen, once they have made up thier mind they dont email answer your calls or email, they even lied in the report, absolute cowboys
…Beware of Enterprise car rental.
We rented a car from Enterprise because we were in a wreck and needed a car till we had ours repaired. While driving the car the rear wheel assembly broke on the car we called in and reported it and they said we damaged the wheel assembly.
The wheel assembly broke while making a normal turn which is a mechanical malfunction. They charged us over $4000 to repair the car .
Beware of Enterprise car rental there is a reason they are rated so bad.You could set yourself up for a terrible expense you can’t afford.
Unbelievable that they would do something like this.
We contacted this agency at Muscat…
We contacted this agency at Muscat airport and they got us a car with Shair Car Rental. We had contacted them, however, and they turned out to be
scammers. Don't use this agency. They are not at all trustworthy and will extort money from you using the unreturned security deposit as an excuse. Scammers rented a car in early January. We were charged a security deposit that was NEVER refunded. A complete rip-off. Don't trust this agency; it's a terrible, unreliable agency.
Useless Beyond Belief
I run my own business and have been trying to set up a corporate account for car rentals for over two weeks. I've completed the website form three times without a response, called various numbers and every time, you are passed on to someone else or they don't answer the phone. Is there anybody there actually running this useless company?!
