A great service - our son has massively improved in both ability and confidence - thanks so much

Laurence helped my son prepare for his GCSE English resit. My son found the sessions prepared very well organised and designed to help him structure his revision and plan his approach to his examination. The result achieved was excellent - a 3 achieved in the first examination in the summer of 2025, became a 6 in the resit taken in the winter of 2025.

My husband and I would like to thank Laurence; you're the best. My son found the lessons great, and Laurence always made him feel at ease and helped him understand everything. He enjoyed every lesson (he didn't enjoy it at school) and always came out happy afterward. He managed to achieve a much better grade than before. We are really pleased. We asked Laurence to support our son Harry with his 4th attempt at English language GCSE. Harry has always struggled with English, and on his previous attempts he could not get higher than level 3 in the exam. Laurence supported Harry with online tutoring and Harry found his approach much more helpful than other face-to-face tuition he has had in the past. With just a couple of months of tuition at 4 hours per week, Harry passed his GCSE English language with a solid level 4.
We feel Laurence’s guidance and encouragement really helped Harry to get those extra marks he needed and are confident to recommend him to anyone looking for tuition for their child.

Laurence is a fantastic English teacher. He was very organised, detailed, amenable and tailors his teaching to the needs of the student. Our son secured a grade of 8 from the previous 5; which was a massive improvement within a year of start of classes. Laurence supported where the school failed to achieve those grades. Laurence is a fantastic tutor! I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a tutor for GCSE English Language or Literature. His lessons are very carefully planned and he gave my daughter excellent feedback on how to improve her work. We were recommended Laurence,and my daughter started in January 2025, taking her GCSEs in May/June 25. Laurence’s teaching methods allowed my daughter to gain confidence, improve her technique in addressing the exam questions, and gain a better understanding of the GCSE English process. Laurence helped my son go from grade 5s to a 7 and an 8. He was really helpful and used the lessons really effectively. The 1:1 guidance and specific ways to improve his essays was super useful as well.

We found Laurence after my daughter got a 2 in English Language mock exam at the end of year 10. This summer she got a 7 in her final GCSE. I credit Laurence for making this difference.

My daughter's working relationship with her school teacher had completely broken down, they just didn't understand each other and my daughter's confidence was at rock bottom. From the first lesson Laurence complimented her work and rebuilt that confidence.

Laurence plans out his lessons entirely separately from what each child may be covering at school that week. He will cover the whole syllabus, gives tips for revision, using quotes, and how to structure the answers to meet all the criteria the examiners are looking for.
Closer to the exams Laurence works on confidence with dealing with a new question, this helped my daughter who tends to panic and struggles to start her answer.
Laurence's communication was clear, prompt and comprehensive throughout.

Perfect for my dyslexic son. Worked really well being online. Laurence puts a lot of work into the sessions. From predicted 3s and getting a 4 and a 5 was beyond what we hoped for and in a very short space of time. Only regret was not getting Laurence on board earlier!

We found Laurence via a random Google search, somewhat panicked after our very bright and articulate daughter was told she would expect a 2 in Eng Lit and a 4 in Eng Lang. Having only had supply teachers for a year for English.
Our daughter is scientific by nature and needed help with structure, plus confidence having had no real input in English for over a year.
Lawrence gave her both and a whole lot more. 12 lessons later she sat her mocks, gaining 5's and yesterday got a 7 and 6 in her GCSE's, which was a great result.

We came to Laurence through my sister, who had used him to successfully help my nephew. Laurence’s tutoring has made all the difference for Josh’s results in his GCSE.
Josh has been always struggling with reading and writing and last year he was diagnosed with high functioning autism, while he had already been diagnosed with dyslexia in primary school.
With specific learning difficulties, no matter the effort he was putting in his English, he couldn’t have succeeded by himself or just with our help.
His last English mock in year 10 was a level 2.
