I was initially in contract with Knowledge First. After over a decade of agreements paid up, and no grandchildren needing the accounts I decided to transfer my accounts to my RRSPs. This is where the difficulty begins. Contacting Embark, finally receiving the necessary forms and sorting things out. I have been unable to access my account and I find the 3 forms to transfer funds to my RRSPs acct. difficult to understand. I am awaiting information to access my account. It has been a long and frustrating process.

No Internal Coordination ; September 2026 There is appears to be little to no internal coordination in processing requests. I sent an EAP request to what I was later told was the incorrect email address. Yet someone from that “incorrect email address” had responded and stated the form was not readable. The next working day I got another email stating a void cheque was received but there was no other documentation to go with it. I’d sent the void cheque to the same “incorrect” email. When I called about this I was told to submit the forms all over again to the “correct email address”. Embark already had all the forms. Why did I have to re-submit ? 2) the automated response when I call the 1-800 “help” line is totally useless. It asks to select a # for the area you are calling about. No matter what I press the response is always “I’m sorry I did not get your response so will connect you to an agent”. I have since learned to not say or press anything and very quickly the automated person says it will put me through to an agent. 3) My husband passed 18 years ago and even though the account was changed to reflect the “Estate” of I still get an automated “reminder” online that I need to get the co-contributor’s signature. That is insensitive. All this leads me to believe there is little to no coordination or communication within Embark, and that online information is not maintained.

Our child's RESP was transferred to Embark from another institution several years ago, and we've enjoyed exceptional customer service and proactive fund management ever since. The web interface is intuitive, and all information can be viewed easily. We recommend Embark without hesitation.

Stay away.. these people will lie to your face.. They will charge an Enrolment fee ($100 per unit!) that will eat half of benefits, and if you complaint about it, they will also lie to you by telling you that they will reimburse them to you at maturity (which used to be the norm) but with all name changes and new prospects they dropped the reimbursement part (former names: Knowledge First Financial / Heritage Education Funds / USC). In Quebec a class action proceeding was won (Wang v. Heritage Education Funds Inc., Knowledge First Financial Inc., et al., Quebec Superior Court File No. 500-06-000932-182) and they had to refund the enrolment fees.. why not in Ontario or the rest of Canada?
