Great trip and excellent RV
1. Pick-up in Denver was effective and pleasant. No problem and very friendly personnel.
2. The ~5 week travel and ~5200 miles were without any problem with the RV! No engine or tires issue and no problems with any of the onboard systems. So I am unable to comment on their 'service' during the trip: there were no problems...:).
3. Return in San Francisco was again very effective and pleasant with nice and friendly personnel.
In summary: great RV and great company.

Delivered with a dead house battery — 8 of 11 nights without a working fridge
We rented a Class C motorhome from the Dublin/Bay Area location for an eleven-night family trip with our two teenage sons. The vehicle was handed over with an auxiliary house battery that would not hold a charge. On day one, after a full day's driving, the fridge died within hours and we lost about US$250 of food we had just bought. For eight of the eleven nights the fridge and 12-volt systems were unusable and the generator wouldn't even start. We paid for eleven nights in a self-contained motorhome and were without that core function for eight of them. Our trip was planned as a (at least for 24 hours) self-sufficient off-grid trip through Yosemite to Las Vegas, so the failure also cost us planned day hikes — we couldn't leave the vehicle too long/far because we had to manage power. El Monte's own On-Road Care acknowledged the fault in writing, but we were sent from shop to shop on the road, and the battery wasn't replaced until day eight at another branch. A worn-out battery is exactly what a pre-rental inspection should catch before handing a vehicle to a family for two weeks. The staff we dealt with were polite, but the inspection and maintenance let us down.

Had a great experience with El Monte RV…
Had a great experience with El Monte RV in Dublin, CA. From check-in to the final walk-around, everything went smoothly and professionally. We drove nearly 3,000 miles over 16 days, and the 24-foot RV was updated, comfortable, and performed flawlessly throughout the trip.
We experienced one minor issue when the kitchen faucet began leaking on our last night, but since it happened at the very end of the trip, it wasn’t a significant inconvenience. Other than that, the entire rental process was seamless.
I would definitely rent from El Monte RV again and highly recommend the Dublin location to anyone looking for a hassle-free RV rental experience.

Awfull experience in San Francisco
The reserved size (small) was not available for pick-up and that was a major issue once my reservation at yosemite had a size restriction (i was at an exit and there was a Huge tree on the back of designated camping spot). The manager simply said that was nothing he could do so i refused the leave with the medium RV. That delayed my whole trip in one day since que outside agency i hired found a small RV até Road Bear, which i picked up the next day.

Poor problem solution
I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the RV we rented from your company and the way this situation was ultimately handled upon return of the vehicle.
Reservation Reference: XQB673876-1
From the very first night of our trip, the RV presented serious battery issues. A battery alarm continuously sounded throughout the entire night, making it extremely difficult for us to sleep and causing a very stressful and uncomfortable start to our vacation.
The following day, we contacted your support team multiple times in order to solve the issue. Unfortunately, the assistance initially provided was extremely poor. On two separate occasions, we were instructed to drive to auto parts stores so the battery could supposedly be checked and repaired. The first time we were sent to AutoZone, and the second time to O’Reilly Auto Parts. In both cases, the staff informed us that they do not service RV batteries and only work with standard engine batteries. As a result, we wasted several hours of our vacation driving between locations and trying to resolve a problem that should never have existed in the first place.
What was especially frustrating was that after the first failed attempt, the exact same mistake was repeated a second time. This caused a great deal of unnecessary frustration and stress. You can verify all of this in the conversations and calls we had with customer service, where it became very clear how upset we were with the handling of the situation and the lack of an effective solution.
Fortunately, during our third attempt to seek assistance, another phone agent handled the situation professionally and in the way we originally expected from your company. This agent personally contacted an RV repair workshop, spoke with them directly, asked them to wait for us because it was already late in the day, and arranged for the batteries to be replaced properly. The repair shop changed the batteries and billed the repair directly to your company. We truly appreciate this agent’s effort and professionalism. However, this effective solution only came after two failed attempts that ultimately caused us to arrive approximately five hours later than planned to Yosemite.
This situation had a significant negative impact on our trip. We traveled all the way from Argentina and spent a considerable amount of money for this vacation. Due to these delays and inconveniences, we lost valuable vacation time during what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Additionally, because the battery system was malfunctioning, we were forced to run the gasoline generator for extended periods of time simply to prevent the battery from dying completely and to avoid losing the food stored in the refrigerator. This caused us to consume considerably more fuel than expected, creating additional expenses and inconvenience that were directly caused by the defective condition of the RV.
When we returned the RV and explained the entire situation, we were informed that the compensation offered would only be approximately $90, justified as the equivalent of one rental day. Respectfully, we do not believe this is a fair or reasonable resolution.
While the base daily rate may have been around that amount, the actual total cost of the rental was approximately $1,600 once insurance, fees, and additional services were included. More importantly, the issue was not simply the loss of a few hours. The reality is that we were given an RV with mechanical issues from the very beginning, suffered a sleepless night, lost valuable vacation time, incurred additional fuel expenses, and received ineffective support throughout the process.
We are not seeking anything unreasonable, but we do believe the compensation offered does not adequately reflect the seriousness of the inconvenience and the negative impact this had on our trip. We respectfully ask that you reconsider the amount refunded and provide a more appropriate compensation for the overall experience.
We look forward to your response.

Very bad customer service
I was in vehicle #35817 when I received it, it was dirty, the floors were dirty, the cutlery was sticky.
In addition to that, the employee who greeted me was unwilling to explain the proper functioning of the vehicle.
But the worst part wasn't that, but rather when, after driving for a couple of hours, I arrived at my first campsite. As soon as I turned off the truck and was relying solely on the battery power, everything failed.
The lights flickered after 15 minutes, and when it started to get cold and I tried to turn on the propane heater, it only came on for 5 seconds before shutting off completely. No more lights, no more refrigerator, and no more heater.
It was a very cold night, and you could really feel it inside the truck.
My wife, my 3-year-old son, and I spent a very cold night. The next morning I called the roadside assistance number and they told me to go to a place 15 minutes away to have the batteries changed, but they didn't have them. So they told me the best option was to drive 30 minutes in the opposite direction from where I was continuing my trip to a workshop where they could change the batteries.
I did this, losing approximately 3 hours between going there, waiting for them to change them, and returning the way I was going. I wasted vacation time and money, not only on fuel but also on the food in the refrigerator that spoiled due to the lack of power.
After all that, the trip went normally and the truck worked correctly.
Now, when I went to return it on May 3rd, another problem started. Apparently, the rear bumper has a very small dent, which I don't remember when it happened since I hadn't noticed it.
To summarize, they charged me $1200 for the rear bumper damage, even though I had VIP insurance
But for delivering a dirty truck, spending a freezing night with my family without electricity, having to throw away food, spending money on gas to drive back and forth to replace the batteries, and losing half a day of my vacation, they're only refunding me $90 in compensation.
It seems very unfair that if I have to cover the excessive costs of the bumper repair, the company, El Monte, won't take responsibility for all the lost time, money, food, cold, and stress that my family and I endured.

Very good RV company
Very good RV company. There's a lot of additional fees usually, which is fine. The RV is a little bit older than their partner Road Bear RV but all in all it is a great experience, with a nice location and a nice dealership
