Rental Experience
I rented a car from Eldan for my trip around Israel, and I'm really happy with the experience. Everything was easy from the moment I picked up the car until I returned it.
The best part was the customer service. Everyone I spoke with was kind, helpful, and genuinely cared about making sure everything went smoothly. Whenever I had a question, they responded quickly and were always polite and professional.
The car was clean, comfortable, and perfect for the trip. It's always nice to deal with a company that makes things simple and stress-free. I would definitely rent from Eldan again and highly recommend them to anyone visiting Israel or needing a rental car.
Could Be Better
I recently rented a car from Eldan, and my experience was mixed.
On the positive side, the booking process was relatively straightforward, and the vehicle I received was clean and generally in good condition. The staff I interacted with were polite and professional, and the pickup process was reasonably efficient.
However, there were also several aspects that prevented this from being a higher-rated experience. Communication could have been clearer regarding certain terms and charges, and I found parts of the rental process more complicated than expected. Some information that would have been helpful to know in advance was not explained clearly, which led to unnecessary confusion.
In addition, customer service was somewhat inconsistent. While some representatives were helpful, others seemed less interested in resolving concerns promptly. Response times could also be improved, especially when customers need quick clarification during an active rental.
Overall, Eldan provided an acceptable service, and I was able to complete my trip without major issues. However, there is definitely room for improvement in transparency, communication, and customer support. I would consider using the company again, but I would also compare alternatives before making a future reservation.
Pros: Clean vehicle, easy booking process, courteous staff.
Cons: Communication gaps, unclear information, inconsistent customer service.
Not trustworthy
1. In autumn 2025 they told me that the have no more data from me from 2018. Afterwards they sent me all details from 2018 by email. So the lied to me about this case.
2. The rented car smelled after cigarettes.
3. The charged me after seven years (!!!) USD 22 for a open fee handling, but did not answer my mail about the cause and details regarding the violation in 2018.
4. They refuse to refund VAT for tourists (B2) on handling fees.
The whole experience was extremely…
The whole experience was extremely disappointing. I have rented with them several times before, but the last two rentals were unacceptable.
During the most recent rental (January–February 2026), we continuously faced unexpected charges. First, I specifically chose to be charged in U.S. dollars, yet they charged my card in shekels, increasing the total cost of the rental. At the counter, we were required to pay VAT even though I hold a B2 visa. The additional driver had an A1 visa, and they refused to process the exemption, despite the fact that we were allowed to do so on a previous rental.
We were handed the key at the counter, but the instructions to locate the vehicle were unclear, and we had to wander through the parking lot to find it. When we finally found the car, we noticed several scratches and marks. Due to the rainy weather and poor lighting, it was impossible to inspect it properly at that time.
Upon returning the vehicle, they attempted to charge us an additional cleaning fee (there had been a sandstorm). Furthermore, they claimed we had caused damage to the car and charged us an amount exceeding the deductible. This is particularly concerning for two reasons: we were not responsible for the alleged damage, and the amount charged was higher than the deductible stated in the reservation.
During the previous rental, we received a vehicle in very poor condition, with cigarette burns on the seat and extremely high fuel consumption.
In conclusion, based on these experiences, I cannot recommend renting from this company. The lack of transparency and professionalism has been deeply disappointing.
Eldan Car Hire
Eldan Car Hire – Service Experience Review
During a recent visit to Israel, I hired a vehicle from Eldan Car Hire and experienced several issues that significantly disrupted my trip.
Late one evening (around 11:00 pm), I was unable to lock the vehicle. The car did not have a physical key; locking relied entirely on a remote control, and the engine was started using a keypad code. When I contacted Eldan for assistance, I was told roadside support could attend, but the estimated wait time was 4–5 hours. I was also advised that if anything were stolen from the unlocked vehicle, I would be held responsible.
The telephone support provided was limited. No structured troubleshooting was carried out (such as checking dashboard alerts or system indicators), and the only suggestion offered was that the remote-control battery might be flat.
I asked whether assistance could be scheduled for 8:00 am the following morning so I could rest overnight, but was informed this was not possible and that I would need to call again in the morning and wait for assistance to be dispatched.
I was also advised to contact Yedidim, a volunteer organisation not affiliated with Eldan. The phone number provided could only be dialled from an Israeli phone, which I did not have access to.
After approximately one hour of repeated attempts, the car eventually locked, although the reason for this remained unclear.
The following day, after driving a very short distance (approximately 500 metres), the car failed to start. The keypad was unresponsive and appeared non-functional. I contacted Eldan again and was offered a replacement vehicle, with an estimated arrival time of 3–4 hours. As a result, previously arranged plans had to be cancelled, and several hours were spent waiting for assistance.
When I asked whether any compensation would be offered for the disruption and lost time, I was advised that Eldan does not provide compensation in such circumstances, in accordance with their terms and conditions.
I am sharing this review to provide factual information for other customers considering Eldan car hire in Israel, particularly regarding vehicle access systems, response times, and support arrangements.
Eldan has left us siting on the side of a road with a disabled car telling us it can take up to 3 hours to get hep.
Eldan has left us siting on the side on the side of the road with a disabled vehicle for over 3 and a half hours still no help. Im diabetic with no food no help from eldan. It ended up taking 4 and1/2hours.
Horribly dishonest
Horribly dishonest, would not wish them on my worst enemy. They lied about the insurance they were selling us, telling us it was for one thing when it was for another (which we didn't need, because our credit card already covered it). When we called them out on it a couple days later, they refused to fix. We had to return the car early and rent from an agency that doesn't steal from its customers.
Terrible website and hard to place order
I have heard from Eldan many times before. The Cars and service are okay but the website is a disaster.
The is no app, so reservations have to be made on the web. The web does not retain any information so if for any reason the information is lost as it was twice when I placed the order you have to re-enter all the information from scratch.
I wanted to contact Eldan, but the contact page does not work.
Finally, the website itself is very amateurish. You do not get a proper confirmation of the order. You just get an email which tells you that your order is subject to manual review and that you will then be subsequently getting a further email to tell you if the order has been successful.
On plus side, prices are good!
Very bad experience
The car was old and smelled with cigarettes. Almost immediately as I started driving there appeared a warning of low tire pressure. In the evening, the battery discharged and I was not able to start the car. I tried to call the customer service without any success. Later I realized that the customer service answers only Israeli numbers, and my US phone was immediately disconnected. I was able to reach them by borrowing an Israeli phone, but the customer service told me that the tires are my responsibility and not theirs and they advise me to go to gas station and blow the tires. They promised to send a technician to look at the battery, and I had to wait for him most of the day which broke my plans, but finally he came and replaced the battery. I also went to the gas station to blow the tire, spent there a lot of time in the line, but the warning of low tire pressure didn't go away. I called the customer service again informing them of that but they said they could not help me. I thought maybe it was a sensor problem and was driving for several days, but then my car stopped because of the flat tire in the middle of the highway. The road service came and installed a spare tire, but I had to cancel my trip and drove back to Eldan car rental in Jerusalem. The girl at the front desk refused to replace a car and told me I had to bring that car to repair station and wait there while they repair it. I had to yell at her, as I already spent a lot of my time because of the car problems, and another employee came and said he would replace the car. The new car I received also was quite old, with cigarettes' smell and it was hard to turn the wheel, but at least it was driving. It's the worst experience I ever had with renting a car.
Eldan - renter beware
I booked a car from Eldan to be collected at Ben Gurion airport after arriving from overseas. It was an evening arrival and by the time I got to the Eldan desk there were 5 customers ahead of me in the queue, with one Eldan official behind the desk. Processing each customer took ages - 10/15 minutes per customer. Endless explanations and contract signatures required. After waiting in line for approx 45 minutes, with another probable 30-45 minutes ahead, I gave up. On the spot, I tried three times to use the Eldan-provided link to cancel my reservation (knowing that I would forfeit the $50 deposit) but it failed each time. I then walked over to desk of one of the other companies (all without waiting lines), and quickly arranged a car for an almost identical price from a competitor (Europcar). We managed to leave the airport at 9:00pm. I have over 50 years experience of driving in Israel and speak fluent Hebrew - hardly a novice in renting or driving in Israel. When I called Eldan the next morning to confirm the cancellation of my reservation, I was charged an additional $40 "cancellation fee." Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware. Like they say in Israel, "Never Again."

My car broke down 3 days into the rental period.
Telephone service was horrible, nobody picked up the phone for a few days. When they did pick up it took them a whole day to provide me with a substitute car, which was too small for my needs anyway.
An excellent experience with Eldan...
I am really confused by all the negative reviews. I booked a car with Enterprise, which is handled by Eldan. The Enterprise price was better than Eldan's quote, so I stayed with the Enterprise reservation despite a lot of really terrible reviews for Eldan. My experience was absolutely perfect. In Ben Gurion Airport, the staff was smart and friendly. They gave me an upgraded SUV for free. It was an excellent car. All staff were professional and careful when I took it out and when I returned it. No extra charges and a quick shuttle serve made it a perfect experience. I wonder if these negative reviews are fake, intended to hurt a competitor's business, but I rent a lot of cars and this was a perfect experience. I would use Eldan without hesitation.
Never rent from this car rental…
Never rent from this car rental company. When renting a car and not taking their full insurance, they ask for a
credit card authorization of several thousand dollars in case of damage. If you have any damage, they charge your credit card with a large amount (in my case US$ 1723) without ever providing a justification (independent estimate or repair bill). This information is routinely provided as your private insurance (in my case through VISA) requires it to reimburse you. Except for some useless comments, they simply never reply to direct requests from your insurance company or yourself. At some point, your insurance company closes the case for missing information, and you are personally stuck with paying the bill. In my view, this amounts to fraudulent behavior. Their customer service is equally useless as they just cover up by referring you back to the rental office that charged you.
The rental station in the city was closed ...
People at the rental station didn't speak English.
They told us, we can bring the car back in Tel Aviv, but it was a ferry day and the station was closed. We had to go to the airport, where they wanted to charge us an extra airport fee - even if we didn't want to go there. And: we had no possibility to go back to the city because it was a ferry day and neither bus nor train were working. No interest in finding a solution. And: They didn't contact us as they told us they would.

Charged 20% MORE than their booking quote
You get an e-mail from Eldan advising you of their price.
Then your credit card bill comes through and they have charged you 20|% more.
Naturally, you want to ask them why.
They don't reply.
So you send them another e-mail.
They don't reply.
So you take it up with the credit card Company who then advise you that in their Terms and Conditions state the cost "may be subject to any change, amendment and addition to the rental details, including, without limitation, shortening or extending the rental period, changing the place and date of pickup/return of the vehicle, the purchase of any extras etc".
It is perfectly understandable to charge a different amount in those circumstances, but not to charge whatever they decide at their total discretion, without explanation and without recourse.
What if they had wanted to charge
£5,000.
You'd be screwed basically.
Credit for 2 lost rental days not received
I rented an Eldan car in Israel -12/5/22 to 22/5/22. Due to electrical problem with car, I could not use the car for 1.5 days. My daughter called and arranged with Eldan for a partial credit -- 2 days' worth, I believe -- shortly after my rental period. I have not received a credit on my Credit Card, and it is now early July. I should receive it immediately. I think it would be in everyone's interest for Eldan to resolve this ASAP.

Stay away from Eldan Car Rental
Stay away from Eldan Car Rental. My experience has been bad at every turn. Starting with receiving a filthy vehicle (mud throughout the car as if it were offroading--its a Kia Picanto, to filthy inside, including used cigarettes, used tissues, dirt throughout). To receiving the car with unsafe tire pressure. When I pointed out the low tires to the rental rep he said they were fine but proceeded to fill them to appropriate pressure. 10 minutes into my drive I received a low tired pressure alert. I proceeded to call customer service and was transferred an innumerable amount of times. Still haven't received appropriate service to this point.
