A retailer I simply will never use again. Shame, as their physical stores seem fine.

It seems their policy is to offer a product at an attractive discount, with next-week delivery advertised. Then 1.5months later, cancel the order after multiple attempts to find out what's happening. They blame "the warehouse", and being out-of-stock.

But the product is now back up on the website at full price.

When I ask about why this has happened, they close the chat.

Don't buy from El Corte Ingles

Their policy is to sell products at discounts and them cancel them without justification. They even send emails stating that the cancelation was solicited by the client.
The excuse is the lack of stock but the product was cancelled a week after it was bought online. However it is still available to buy on the site.

Cancel orders without giving reason

They sell items for cheaper and then cancel the order without giving a reason. They refund the money but it’s awful to think the item is gonna arrive and a week later just get the money randomly. Happened 2 times already.

this is extortion

Worst experience, ever, went to the shop, the products were not available. So I decided to buy online, it's not possible to make it pick it up at the store .. I made it shipped to another collect point. They didn't send me an email, they had it delivered by DPD, that never told me where was the package. And then... they told me a random guy named Andre Ribeiro came to receive my package. I answered that who's this guy and why would it be allowed to steal my package. El corte Ingles never replied to all my emails in portuguese and english, even when I call them, they said they were going to have an intern affair, no reply after 1month. This is a JOKE. I've lost 50€ and nobody to tell me where is my package and no refund. This is EXTORTION.

Don't expect delivery on time

Don't expect delivery on time. Really. They don't treat customers seriously and offer no compensation for the delay. This is the last time I order anything from their website.
On 11.12 I ordered a Christmas gift for my family. It should have arrived on 15.12. However, until Christmas there were absolutely no changes in the order status.
I repeatedly called, they merely asked me to wait. You know when I finally got it? 2 weeks AFTER Christmas. Great gift.

Worst customer support I've ever experienced

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Reached out as my 2000€ sofa was delivered in the wrong color and with pillows missing. The sofa was delivered late. Chat support wait time is easily 30+ minutes. The support agents close the chat if you don't respond within a few seconds / one minute after waiting for 30 minutes. When you finally get hold of someone, they can't even help you and say that they made a request for the right team - then you wait another 2 days, get a useless response. When you respond back, you don't receive a response, and even after 3 follow-ups, the support team just closed my ticket without resolving my request! What is going on? Who runs this place and service? It's outrageous how poorly their customer service / support is.

I will never buy from you again.

Stay away from shopping there

I ordered a Christmas tree on 28/11 and when I book the return pick up through their return portal, they said the tree would be picked up by 3/12. So far, the tree is still sitting by the door, nothing happened. Customer service is useless and extremely unprepared.
Will never shop there again.

Online is unbelievable

Online delivery is ALWAYS late and they never say anything to tell me they are late. Even worse they what comes out of my bank is higher then what they asked for, unbelievable.
I would upload evidence but this platform doesn't have that option

I would like to advice you to skip this…

I would like to advice you to skip this merchant since they are ridiculous and make fun at their customers. After I bought a refrigerator with the info to be delivered in maximum 10 days, passed that time and after many messages sent by me, they asked me to wait more 60 days. It’s insane. I’ve lost food and medication because of that.
Do not engage with that merchat.

This company is really really bad

This company is really really bad! I ordered a washing machine and it said delivery on September 29 before I ordered. After I ordered it was October 6. Then October 6 comes and no communications. I call them and they just tell me without apology that they are out of stock. They don't know when they'll get it back. So I cancel the order and online it doesn't update to say it's cancelled so god knows when I'll get my refund.

I've also ordered from their supermarket and twice they have been late in a row, with me having to leave before the order arrives one day.

Late delivery and refusal of legal return rights

I ordered a table and handboard from El Corte Inglés (Portugal). The website indicated delivery would take about a week, but my order only arrived after more than five weeks – over 30 days late. By that time, I no longer needed the products.

I contacted customer service to exercise my EU right to return the order. Not only was I within the 14-day withdrawal period, but I should also have been entitled to return the products because they were delivered far later than promised. Despite this, my return request was denied.

This shows a lack of respect for EU consumer rights and very poor customer service. I cannot recommend ordering from them – be cautious if you value accurate delivery times and your right to return.

Website does not recognise my postcode…

Website does not recognise my postcode or even a business in the nearest town. It’s like there is an error with the database? It’s impossible to order anything as no amount of playing around with the address format works. The most ridiculous, frustrating experience. Whoever designed & maintains the website should be fired as I see i’m not the only person with this issue. I’ve emailed the customer service department but I get the feeling they don’t care…

El Corte Ingles lies over and over again

We ordered a De'Longhi coffee machine from Corte Inglês as part of their Black Friday promotions in November 2024.

We are still waiting almost three months later.

In that time, we've received over 10 emails promising that the coffee machine would be delivered in the next few days, but each time the delivery was rescheduled at the last moment.

Once our complaints reached a high enough level, it turned out that these emails are generated automatically by the Corte Ingles system and bear no relation to reality at all.

At this point we were given the advice to ignore the emails from Corte Ingles about delivery dates, because they were known to be unreliable. Instead we were told to wait until we actually received a message from the courier to confirm that the item was on its way.

Of course that never happened.

If the key to customer service is to under-promise and over-deliver, Corte Ingles has a system designed to do exactly the opposite.

Every time we've tried to contact Corte Ingles on the phone, it's been a painful process that takes a long time, and involves a lot of waiting. And quite often the phone has just cut off, and of course no one calls you back, you have to start the whole process again.

If you need to speak to them in English, then that's a whole another level of pain and waiting.

In the end we've been advised that the Delonghi model (Magnifica Start) is out of stock, has stopped being manufactured and will never again be in stock.

El Corte Ingles also said the same thing about the next model - the Magnifica Evo when we asked about getting a similar model as a replacement - it is out of stock, is no longer being produced and will never again be in stock.

So, what is most surprising of all is to see that both these coffee machines are still being offered on the Corte Ingles website as if they're in stock!

I'm wondering if the idea is to get as much money from customers and hold onto it for as long as possible, and potentially use it as working capital, or to make money from interest. I can see now reading reviews online that we're not the only people who have experienced this.

I would like to make special mention of Nair Xavier, a supposed supervisor at El Corte Ingles, who is the undoubtedly the rudest, most arrogant, and worst trained customer service person that I've encountered across any brand! Nair's technique is to not listen to her customers, and to loudly talk over them, while saying lies and things she knows simply aren't true. Nair seems to be on a one-woman mission to destroy the El Corte Ingles brand.

Basically, you can't trust what's on the Corte Ingles website, you can't trust what they send in their emails, and you have to be very patient to get through to people who aren't going to tell you the truth anyway!

What has happened to this brand?!

Never again for us.

Appalling delivery service…

Appalling customer service…my delivery still hasn’t arrived after 10 hours waiting and repeatedly being assured it will arrive.

Horrible red haired woman in the kitchen department who was rude and unpleasant and wouldn’t help at all. Nice manager but it’s made no difference at all and they won’t give me a refund. Do not let your goods be delivered…

There is no way to get delivered my…

There is no way to get delivered my order, very simply because Corte Ingles uses a courrier company called MRW ( Spanish one I believe) which is beyond bad. They do not give any time slot, they send you emails with a contact number but when you try to call them no one responds. I ended up having my order sent back to Corte warehouse but they will not refund me until they receive back their order.
I hope people read reviews before they order and Corte pls upgrade your delivery service and change your courier as your service in store is good but online is a zero star one.. shame as now I decided to boycott Corte Ingles all together.

I had a confused but resolved experience

I realise people mainly leave bad reviews to complain. My TV died and I bought a new one on Saturday night. I went with El Corte Ingles as it is a reputable company. Some of their competitors had same price for same TV. Turns out I accidentally paid twice hence was confused that they cancelled my order. I did chase them to double check but it took a while for them to come back to me which is the only complaint I have as it was delivered on time yesterday, they cancelled the extra order and I watched my TV lastnight. So initially mea culpa but a slow response explanation as to what happened. All is well that ends well
