I have installed solar with battery with them, nearly 10 months now my export approval not set up yet , I call them several time ,but poor response

We had a good survey/sale visit but were told the panels could not be connected to a sub meter which we have been told is incorrect. We have split phase electric supply and were told we needed two inverters. We heard nothing about for 3 months until we were invited to apply for a date by phone on a first come first served basis. The phone wasnt answered for 4 occasions and an hour of attempts but we did get through and booked.
Super fitters arrived with one inverter, told us this ok, and fitted in a few hours v efficient BUT fitted to phase supplying garage and alarm only so totally useless set of panels powering about 50 watts in the home. Feedback guys questioned about the fitting snd they asked tech support told all ok . Yet to be resolved despite inappropriate full payment.
The service is great in some ways - sales, texts, waste, dates once booked, but the tech planning and delivery is poor. So far..
So I had Effective Home install solar panels, battery and inverter on 19 jan 26. It is still not working as on 20 march 2026.
I have made repeated calls to them and they have done nothing to rectify the problems. I have formally written to complain on 29 Jan 26 and still had no response.
I have asked them to remove their system and refund and no response . I have raised a complaint with HIES who work as a mediator and I await their response.
I have never known a company provide such poor service and lack of care to their customers.
Please do not consider this company Effective Home for you solar systems as they are only interested in getting your money as fast as possible and then running.

We took up the British Gas sponsored link for the supply and installation of solar panels, inverter and a battery.
The pre-sales engagement from Effective Home was excellent; thorough, informative and good value.
The post sales follow up was very poor. Virtually no contact - emails went unanswered until we escalated it.
The installation was OK in February but with a rushed and poor handover with no documentation provided. We have not been able to fine tune or complete the set up.
Multiple requests for technical support since and ongoing have been acknowledged and then ignored with no help offered or given.
A real disappointment with a currently sub-optimal system.
In August 2025 I had a 16 panel solar system with battery fitted by Effective Homes. Everything went well and I'm more than satisfied with the instalation. So when I decided to increase the battery size I had no hesitation in going back to Effective. They installed an additional battery in March this year. After the installer left I noticed several problems, the new battery had not been earthed, the new battery had not been mounted at the manufacturer's recommended distance from the existing battery, probably because the battery management cable that runs between the two battery units wasn't long enough. That cable has a bend at one end which will no doubt in the future lead to premature failure.
I have raised the issue on 3 separate occasions and to date have been completely ignored. Not the type of response you would expect and something that you should consider if your looking to select effective homes as your solar installer of choise

I had solar panels installed by efficient home in December 2025. Within 3 months on 26 March 2026 my solar stopped generating energy. I called several times to customer serving center to get the right person to speak to. When I called for the first time the lady didn’t want to listen, neither asked my postcode and just said someone will get in touch with you. I felt she just wanted to end the call. Later called again and someone else spoke to me saying I will get call back from engineers in 48 hrs. No call for the next 3 days. I called again and this time someone with knowledge of understanding problems asked me to do some check, which I did and he said he will send me an engineer to check. I did have an engineer come to me and sorry we have back log don’t got delayed to call. The engineer checked the fault and said it’s the inverter problem which he will speak to EH and get a new inverter. It’s been 20 days from the time the problem started since I didn’t get any reply neither from the company or the engineer I call EH again and the person on the phone said to me he will send another engineer to my place to check since it was strange to him that my inverter is faulty. I don’t understand why can’t someone sort the problem quickly. I know they have a back log but that’s not the reason customers should suffer. If the solars were given free I would say nothing but we paid for it. I was asked by many of my friends to give the contact of the company I got my solar panels installed from. I only say don’t as installation may be great but service is ‘ THE WORST’

I have to admit when the old NHS van pulled up with our Solar panels and power wall and he needed my husband to help unload it. I did wonder if it was some cowboy outfit!!!
But we are pleased to say everything has gone smoothly, a few communications problems, especially where the scaffolding was concerned, but apart from that everything happened as and when it was supposed to. The roof fitters were excellent and had the panels fitted in no time. The electrician and his young apprentice were here on time working on a realy horrible rainy day, but never stop until we are all up and running. As we only got everything finished yesterday 10th March 26 we are still learning how it all works.
Excellent company would highly recommend

I had an Effective Homes Solar Panel system fitted in November 2025. The process was fine but by March 2026 my electricity bill had doubled!!! Not what I expected. After four attempts to get help from Effective Homes I got through to Blake Humphries who investigated my concerns in a very polite and courteous way. He helped me check my system (which for a 75 year old clattering about in the attic was a bit of a challenge) and all appeared well. His advice to contact my energy provider has been followed and I look forward to the Solar Panels reducing my electricity bills.

Would like to thank Rebecca for sorting out my paperwork it was all done pretty fast and sent to me by the end of the day like promised she’s a real credit to the company

From start to finish things have gone very smoothly. Good communication throughout the project and a good bunch of cheery guys on the installation team. It's still only a few days since installation but happy with everything so far.

I would have rated them 5, but there was a mix up on the planned installation date. No one turned up. I didn’t find their communication great on this matter. However when the system was installed I was very happy with their team. I am confident from other reviews I was just unlucky.

I am really happy with the entire process from start to finish. Effective kept me updated regularly through emails and phone calls. The installation was quick, and the team was tidy and efficient. I would 100% recommend them. The negative is that the scaffolders were not very good at communicating, and by mistake blocked us from opening the rear doors, so we had to walk around, not the end of the world, just a nuisance.

Since my solar panels were installed in November the FoxEss inverter has not worked as it should have worked on 3 occasions with loss of data sometimes for weeks at a time.
I have had NO support from Effective Home at all. They don't respond to complaints or concerns, told me on one occasion that they had not received my emails requesting technical support despite my using the email address on the post-installation paperwork. Then they ignored those emails when sent again to the correct address and still have not bothered to contact me after 3 weeks.
For the 3rd time the FoxEss inverter is not working as it should. Last time in desperation I had to contact FoxEss myself and today I have waited for hours on the phone for someone at Effective Home to answer.
If there is a problem with the inverter and it is under warranty Effective Home have a duty to look into it and replace it.
By persistently ignoring their customers who have spent a considerable expense on a system, they do not seem worthy of any business.
You would not expect this kind of response if you had purchased white goods or a car that turned out to be faulty. It is appalling.

Be very wary of dealing with this company via referral partners such as Halifax. If you shop around you may find the £750 incentive discount doesn't really exist at all as they start out more expensive anyway. My advice would be go direct to them first , get their cheapest quote THEN go via Halifax to get them to honour £750 off and see how you get on.
For reference I was quoted £6900 then £6300 for 3.6kw solar and 5kwh battery.
Their accusation of my making threats will ironically be passed for consideration as defamation it has been near full day dealing with their meltdown that someone dared to complain. If they are like this at quote stage can only imagine issues if you had a real problem post install
Worth pointing out that effective home then tried to get this review flagged for illegal or harmful or defamatory content. When Trustpilot didn't remove it they created reply below.
I won't be intimidated out of an honest review.
I said I had no choice to post a review. I didn't threaten to do so. I just did it

Had a remote survey over Teams last week with Sahil and everything was made so clear and easy. Would recommend highly.

Reply from Effective Home
Sahil was available and on time for a planning call which he completed very efficiently and quickly.

I chose Effective Home because they were recommended by Halifax, but the experience has been a catalogue of errors and mismanagement.
After my deposit was take, the communication was poor. I was ignored for weeks by sales and compliance teams, and I eventually had to contact the DNO myself to move the application forward after Effective Home failed to do so for months.
The installation day was very poor. Despite warnings during the design phase about roof dimensions by their own staff, the subcontracted team arrived with panels that were too large. I was pressured into accepting a smaller 5.7kW system just to get the job done.
The technical execution is deeply concerning. The EV charger was wired incorrectly, meaning my battery will drain into my car during a power cut— despite Tesla’s installation manuals advising of the correct method of wiring. To make matters worse, the installers damaged my roof felt and left me with a lifting roof tile.
It is clear that because the work is subcontracted out, there is a massive disconnect between what is promised and what is actually delivered. The "Customer Care" team offers apologies but no actual solutions. I feel like I have had to micromanage most of this project.
I've alraedy started telling people who have directly asked me to avoid Effective Home, so I will tell you the same: Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere. I have already reported my experience to Halifax so that they review their recommendation and am awaiting a formal resolution from Effective Home regarding the damage, reduced system size and incorrect wiring.
