When I picked up the rental car
When I picked up the rental car, I was asked to present an International Driving Permit, which I did not have.
Moreover, none of the communications I received from Autovia mentioned the requirement for an International Driving Permit. All the information provided referred only to a regular driving licence.
Since I did not have an International Driving Permit, I was required to purchase additional insurance from Autovia, even though I had already purchased car rental insurance from another company. This resulted in an additional cost of approximately €350.
Apart from this issue, I was completely satisfied with the rest of the rental experience. I was given a free upgrade to a better vehicle, which was new and in excellent mechanical condition. The staff were very helpful and courteous, and the return of the vehicle was also handled smoothly and without any problems.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the service, with the exception of the unexpected requirement for an International Driving Permit and the resulting additional insurance cost.
