Amazing eco-friendly switch! I just love my ecoegg with Fresh Linen scent, smells great and can't wait to try the other scents! A friend recommended this to me about a year ago and I've never looked... See more

Really wanted this to work but sadly did not for us!
I followed the instructions, detoxed the machine and ran a small load on 60° wash. The clothes came out smelling kind of neutral in the first couple of washes but shortly afterwards came out just smelling like they'd been swished around in some water and nothing else. Smell aside, it's just useless at getting out basic stains - fresh mud on my little ones school trousers - didn't touch it. Grease and a fresh red wine stain - no chance (I get these are notoriously difficult stains but my regular washing powder never really struggled). I tried washing a couple of times but stains just weren't budging.
Really disappointing as clothes do not come out smelling or looking clean despite following the instructions. Perhaps it's the hard water in my area?
Wrote a polite email to Eco Egg services asking for advice but no response after over a week.
Feel compelled to advise others not to try as I've had to go back to my old laundry powder and softener after trying for around 20 washes (egg was supposed to last 70). If you are a family with average family laundry and in a hard water area - it's unlikely to work for you!
Such a pity, I so wanted this to work. Doesn’t pass the sniff test, sadly.
Sadly it doesn't work... I thought it was too good to be true... I've been using it for weeks now. It was ok-ish for the first few washes, for lightly worn clothes (not gym gear or anything more heavily worn). Now it just does nothing - the clothes come out as dirty as they went in. It's supposed to last for up to 70 washes. I don't think it even did 10 properly.
No complaints! I bought it recently from Asda in a quest to cut down on plastic and save money. I’ve used it maybe 6 or 7 times since and my clothes look clean when they come out the wash, and there’s no strong scent. I have sensitive skin and don’t use strongly scented detergents or fabric softener. Highly recommend the eco egg.
I would suggest that you read into the products before buying them.
I have purchased the detox tablets, ecoeggs and dryer eggs. I have a 10kg washing machine so have two eggs for a wash.
Used the detox tablet to start off with and have now used the eggs for a couple of weeks. The detox tablet has removed the damp smell from my machine and clothes. I have sensitive skin so normal washing powder residue made my skin itch even when using a minimal amount.
With the eggs, as you don't need to use a rinse cycle, I put the washes on for half the time I would normally use. So I'm saying money on electric and water as the shorter wash has less rinses. The clothes come out clean and with a very slight scent. My skin has also stopped being as itchy.
When using the tumble dryer eggs, the clothes have a lovely scent and feel soft.
Really impressed with my purchases and will definitely not be going back.
I really wanted this to work as my partners skin has developed a hyper sensitivity to products and wanted to do my bit for him and environment.
Tried this for a week on various wash temperature and cycle length. NOTHING WORKS. I wasnt expecting a strong scent and was happy to get used to clothes being clean rather than smelling clean. But the egg itself smells better than anything that comes out of it. Clothes just feel like I put them in a bowl of water and any sports clothes still smell sweaty.
Makes a hell of noise going round in the drum, no matter where I place it. And then last night in a bedding wash the machine almost broke by how much destruction it was causing in the drum.
Our machine has been used for less than 3 months and after this week our door has multiple severe scratches all over the inside.
Never. Ever. Use. This. Product.
When you accumulate your points and go to cash them in you are forced to pay postage even though your order is over the required £15.00 for free postage. The consequences of cashing in your points was not made clear on the website and neither did they remedy this when I contacted them or waive the postage when this was pointed out to them. Such forced queries / communications end up increasing the carbon footprint and therefore is contrary to their claimed ethos of being green. Its not about being green, its about their making money. The points seem more like a nasty scam as you find that you can lose out when you go to cash them in.
Been using Ecoegg for over a year. Service has always been great and product works a dream on 'normal' laundry with gentle scent. If it is heavily stained, it needs help eg pre soaking with stain remover.
Followed the instructions and did not show any signs of working. Put my clothes in a 40° wash and it’s had barely any smell of freshness to them. It seemed like my clothes were washed in a plain cycle, no detergent or conditioner, no cleaning whatsoever. Glad I bought it at half price. Was hoping I could be more economical, but I’ll stick to my Ecover detergent.
Was delighted to have this eco friendly alternative. I used the ecoegg with three different scent mineral pellets and the tourmaline pellets to load up the eco egg. I did immediately after agitate the device in my portable Black & Decker 0.9 cu ft washer it did suds up (but not as sudsy as Tide Deep Stain or Persil Pro Clean)🧐 using Rapid 15 min wash and a small load of laundry. After removing the load clothes noticed after a deep whiff did not have an overpowering scent, clothes appeared cleaner but will need to pre treat set in biological spots, worked well with a light amount of fabric softener. Note: May need multiple eggs in a larger load for more suds or a few Tbps of laundry detergent. There’s a white egg to clean & brighten white loads haven’t tried it hard to find. Anyways, Great concept!
Tried the ecoegg for the first time and it left my clothes smelling delicious! Was even more shocked to find out it comes with 70 washes. Very good a eco friendly product.
I purchased an Ecoegg 70 wash starter pack in late April 2023 and have been really impressed with the results. I wanted to wait until I’d used if for some time before offering feedback. I needed to switch from eco-friendly gel capsules as they kept getting stuck in the door trim of my machine no matter how carefully I placed them at the start of the wash. I was aware of Ecoegg for several years and had recently seen a couple of YouTube adverts so I decided to watch several video reviews for people's actual experiences. The majority of customers found it ideal, with a couple of small caveats, so I decided to give it a go.
The Spring Blossom fragrance I chose is mild but pleasant and after 44 washes, the egg still has the scent. Clothes smell fresh and clean, rather than scented which is preferable to me. I had no issues putting the egg together and it has never opened mid-wash. The egg holder is great as it has saved me cupboard storage space.
I did a white wash first as some customers said they had noticed small white particles from the pellets during a first wash of dark items. As far as I can tell, I’ve had no issues with white particles on any washes. Yes, there is some noise from the egg, but I wouldn't call it excessive. Obviously in a smaller wash with fewer items to cushion the sound, you hear it more.
For reference, I’m a single person household, and my machine takes a maximum 6kg load. I generally do a 59 minute 40° degree wash, occasionally the same cycle at 30° degree for delicate items. Periodically I run a 60° degree wash. The only stains I generally have to deal with are food stains, so my needs are probably lower than the average family in this respect. I’ve added bicarbonate of soda, bio-D laundry bleach, and pre-treated food stains with Dr Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap, all with no issues. The cleaning results have been as good as my previous detergent with 95% of stains coming out fully, the others considerably reduced.
After 44 washes, the pellets are just about level with the middle of the egg. So far, I have already saved around £10, and that included the egg, holder, detox tablet and first set of pellets. Obviously now I have the egg, the savings will increase. A 50 wash refill will cost me about 70p less than I used to pay for just 26 washes.
The detox tablet was great. I always cleaned my machine drum monthly with a store bought cleaner so assumed it was pretty clean. While using the detox tablet, however, I could see there was a general murkiness to the water during the drum clean cycle. The machine smelled lovely afterwards so I have purchased a box of detox tablets as they clearly work better to lift any grime than the liquid I was using.
An unexpected plus is that the daily cotton flannels I use to wash my face do not hold detergent residue. My previous detergent would always leave a suds/cloudiness to the water when first wetting and wringing out the flannel. There is no residue since switching to Ecoegg which is really pleasing as who wants to rub laundry detergent into their face!
So, all things considered, I definitely intend to stick with the Ecoegg. It is hassle-free, cost-effective and cleans well so I am genuinely glad I switched.
I can’t understand some of the really negative reviews – have these people actually used it? We use it, and it works, though be careful not to over-fill the drum. And it’s helping the environment, which can’t be bad. The newest eggs have fragrances, and for anyone with sensitive skin the EcoEgg seems to me to be a good choice, it lasts a long time, and costs less than powder detergents.
It's actually embarrassing how poorly they wash (or don't) the clothes. I bought the egg due to it's environmental claims and about 6 months in, our clothes aren't smelling clean at all! I've swapped the balls wondering if I've gone through them quicker than expected and it made no difference. Having washed our clothes in "normal" washing powder the musty / sweat smell has gone. I'm just glad we noticed when we did!
I have been using this company for ages with no complaints washing comes out clean and soft. And the washing machine has no nasty smells. I prefer the scent as it is not over powering like washing powder.
And I stopped using softener years ago as hubby is alergic to that and many other washing powders which is why I started using ecoeggs and he has never had a reaction since.
I use both the washing eggs and the tumble dryer eggs. And if I have a grubby bit on my washing like on a shirt colloar I use eco unsented soap. Wet the mark, put on soap with a small nailbrush and give it a slight scrub. I have used this method for years and it does come out of the washing machine using the egg spotless. No re washing needed as the soap breakes down the grease.
I emailed them today for getting back into my account as I couldnt remember password they repiled today and provided a password for me to access my account and then change my password. Fantastic customer surivice.
Honestly try them you will be suprised.
Rubbish rubbish rubbish my bedsheets not even cleaned even on a boil wash didn’t work
Thought this was the way forward it’s like going back to Stone Age my gran got clothes cleaner with a bar of soap on a washboard
Eco egg is a rip off and scam when are people going to wake up use what works best for you don’t listen to the hype
I’m going back to fairy non bio at least it’s trusted
Loved the concept but the product is rubbish!!!! I did the boil wash with the tablet as instructed. A day after that my machine smelt absolutely disgusting!!!! I did a wash with the egg and added no other products as advised and when finished my washing smelt as disgusting as my machine!!!! Put all the ecoegg stuff straight in the bin!!! After that one wash the beads smelt of nothing at all, and they say lasts for 50 or 70 washes???? Don't waste your money.
Started off cleaning well but after a few weeks of using it doesn't feel like the same standard as before...clothes don't feel clean sadly. Great concept but not for me.
I really wanted this product to do what it said but sadly it didn't. It got most things clean but never removed toothpaste dribbles so I had to wash certain items again, so not very economical. It also didn't put any aroma into the washing. Really disappointed and now I have a plastic egg to get rid of 😕
At first I thought it would be a great idea, saving money and being eco friendly. I think for me I love the smell of clean washing which has a nice scent. I found my clothes weren't coming out as soft as when using fabric conditioner. I ended up going back to normal detergent and conditioner and using less of it and adding the egg in so it doesn't go to waste. This seemed to give a good result and I'm saving money by using less detergent and fabric conditioner for the time being until the egg runs out.
